Hello everyone,

It seems like everyone is enjoying the new feature "MailBox", but do you think this feature will allow hackers/spammers to have another utile way to scam people by sending them "Official Messages" which they are really not, and this feature will be a new way of abuse, on the other hand, this feature will allow the players to contact each other freely and make the communication a lot easier. What do you think about this new feature?

And do you think there should be an achievement for this new feature, since it's new and it's under developing, it would be nice to award all players with an achievement worths like 500 RT under the name of "MailBox" just like when the mission's feature went out... to make it remarkable.

You've Got Mail!

While you've been occupied cracking botanical skulls (figuratively, of course), we've been building a new in-game mail system. In this iteration, you will be able to receive important system messages and account updates.

This feature has a number of benefits:

Guide new players through game features as they level up.
Receive a notice about receiving in-game prizes and achievements, especially those that do not have a prize screen.
Notify players about exciting game news.
Provide details when a disciplinary action has been taken.
Eventually allow player-to-player communication. This will be limited to friends only.

It's friends Only? Why would a person add a hacker?

Oba -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 9:46:32)

The time they spent on this could have been used on something good instead...

veneeria -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 10:46:34)

I only receive emails. Or i just don't have an idea how to send ones. Not a bad feature nevertheless.

JariTheMighty -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 11:50:23)

Even if a player were to add a hacker to their buddy list they still could see who sent the message. I don't think anyone could get scammed that easily.

doomkiller98 -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 12:00:52)

Someone would have to be 3 years old to not see the persons username.

master x guardian -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 12:04:31)

If you make the mistake of adding a scammer and they message you as such if anything, the messaging system would make it easier to indict them and bring them to the attention of the Moderators.

Lord Loss... -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/11/2013 18:07:21)

If somebody lacks brains to to understand that giving passwords to anybody is against the rules then it does not matter how the hackers contact them now is it?

T.600 -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/12/2013 7:19:18)

Yeah I like it but they honestly don't need to add it at this stage. Fix the basics first. No point in putting icing on a cake if the main part of that cake you've just taken out of the oven is burnt. ED is a burnt cake that needs to be made again--using the same basic ingredients.

Lord Machaar -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/12/2013 11:56:26)

You need to ask yourself in first place, How players get hacked?
there are many ways, and hackers/spammers surely take advantage of anything to spam players... surely players are smart to avoid adding spammers, but how they gonna find out he is a spammer in first place?

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/12/2013 12:02:55)

^^

It hardly didn't come out yet. Why are you talking about it now?

King Helios -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/12/2013 12:21:04)

I was chatting with comicalbiker about this earlier. We came to an agreement that it is pretty much useless now. Why spend time with this when you could make other features? Why release mail before you can send it? That's like releasing instant-messaging before cell phones were invented.

However, I think that it would be way better if it could be amongst faction members as well. That way, you can message someone who's been offline for 2 days something like "Hey, we're going for daily Tuesday. Be active."

Also, they should have options like forum PM. The options to turn it off, to have an optional pop-up alert for new mail when out of battle (or an alert in general), or to link it to your email (You choose the email, incase you can't access the one you made it with)

Thylek Shran -> RE: The New Feature: MailBox (5/12/2013 17:56:13)

I like the mail system. ED is lacking a good communication system from the beginning.
Mail is also better than incoming chat requests that can distract you in duels.
When someone is offline and you dont know his forum name, which could be totally
different, if he/she has a forum account at all, you cannot contact this player at all.
I dont worry about abuse because fraudsters could contact you with chat already.

@veneeria

Atm you only can receive emails (from the devs only) but cannot create and send them.

This was a good, powerful system that is very useful for us in a lot of situations, and was relatively quick to implement. We released it because it was ready in it's current stage, and let us test the groundwork before opening it up to player-sent mail.

This is definitely something we want to do.

Wow, this feature was suggested before...I'm glad the devs took action to make it.
