Khalix -> Updates to be... (5/20/2013 23:33:29)

Title's a tad bit misleading. All I ask is that the devs in the very least -show- us what they're developing more precisely than showing us new weapon art and a stinger for the new storyline/war.

Could be called developer notes. It would show whatever they're working on in a less abstract way than posting stingers in the design notes.

For example, the May 16, 2013 DN told us about updates to the mail system and some new weapons. As for what's to come in the future? They simply posted a recap and showed us some art. No "To-be-developed" or "Intended to develop". I want a DN that actually updates you on the current status. It would help people see what would come up in the near-future and encourage people to play more in the event that the intended future update is appealing.

The kind of DN I'd like to see is this one:

It would show us what would be completed and released before it actually happens. This would allow more feedback time from players and prepare them for changes.

They only give little previews of things so we can get more out of the release. Think of it like opening presents. The fun part comes from not knowing what you're going to get and then finding out. If you knew what was in the box beforehand, it wouldn't be as fun.

I'd rather see a full month of balance updates/experiments than anything else.

"Fun" is a rather broad term. People have different versions of "Fun".

In the business of gaming, appealing to the gamers is a no.1 priority because no gamers mean no funds. I'll give you a simpler example-

Omega. Varium-users started quitting one by one in disappointment because the advantage they -had- is now gone because of the enhancement balance. The idea of "Omega" before the "Surprise" is popular. Threads sprung up saying "We want Omega" etc, etc- When it came, poof.

It's much more beneficial to the company to keep players updated, because it keeps them in anticipation, as well as making them feel valued.

Nightwraith made a post about future updates and what the developers are working towards:

quote:

These next few weeks leading into summer we will be focusing on developing and implementing major features to improve the quality and longevity of EpicDuel. None of these will be as ground-shattering or time consuming as Omega, but they will be oft requested features such as an improved mission interface, a core shop, and improved Faction Wars. This summer should be very exciting as these key features are implemented over the Omega framework to create a dynamic, action-packed game experience!

I know that most of the new mission interface has been created artistically, but requires coding and implementation to finish ;)

As additional information I know they will be working on balance, the alignment/faction war, the core shop and adding some additional features to the mail interface this week in general...

Often it's hard to put a date on the actual time it will take to finish the new features, so please don't expect it all this week, it's what they are working on and it'll be implemented when it's ready'o'clock ;)

There is a stinger for the new war, Nightwrath showed a map teaser image

Hope that helps keep players updated a bit :)

The request I put in is to display it like the "Omega Status Report" except a little bit more informative.

We'd know exactly what would change- Except bug fixes still ongoing won't be displayed to prevent abuse.
