Bloodpact -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/3/2013 15:28:29)

Hulk explain all the powercreep perfectly.

Tho you could include that they tried to balance out the loss of enchantments, with the cheevo
and a crap refund.

Then they balanced everyone's weapons out and the old expensive varium weapon
are worthless, cuz the strong weapons always looked stupid(unless they came from a promo)
So now we have a bunch of weapons we payed like 1k varium for(credits too but that's a sub issue)
each that were never even going to use.(arguably they could say we still get the rarity score on
some)

There is less powercreep now tho overall

But we do see it every time they make a certain class OP
then all the old one's get abandoned by most, they all
pay 900 varium to be the new class and around we go.

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/3/2013 15:33:11)

Not all, there's much, much more I could say but no point saying it since you will get the point!

Thanks Xendran for the link - I subscribed to the Youtube channel - very interesting.

Tiered cores falls squarely into the power creep problem (They need to make them stronger each time so people buy the packs) so its not a good idea. They should just be free cores, not tiered cores.

Bloodpact -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/4/2013 10:15:55)

Well actually the core's have not been getting stronger, they are irrelevant
they introduce more of a "random" set of exclusive cores, some suck
some more awesome.

Sig once per page. !Mecha

comicalbike -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/4/2013 11:12:35)

thats the problem good package we buy it
they nerf it same with the cores

Mother1 -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/4/2013 11:24:55)

@ comicialbike

Especially the infernal intriciditor. Warrant the first nerf it got was understandable (since even the owners of this item complained it was OP) but due to the staff's poor balance changes (AKA overpowering support) This weapon got another nerf then two indirect nerfs since the staff continued to nerf crits.

Only other thing I remember getting more nerfs then this item was the infernal android.

i find it sad that a youtuber has to explain this concept to "professionals"

i was thinking of doing game design in college, but my experiences with ED has made me skeptical of it. (and also that i dont really know anyone who can sort of guide me in this sort of thing.)

quote:

The weapons with these cores can actually be bought in-game, Xendran, you are not forced to buy the Promo Package.

i dont think it matters whether its an ingame core or a promo. the point is its OP, thus causing a power creep towards older cores. making people without them feel obsolete (as explained in the video) and then not want to compete. making them want to quit the game. (like i did)

EpicIsEpic -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/4/2013 15:37:41)

Perfect video....
Couldn't fit in more...

Mysterion. -> RE: Why enhancements failed, and expensive cores are doing the same thing (6/5/2013 2:35:15)

@Goldslayer1
That post was directed to this:
quote:

And when i say expensive cores i mean those 50 dollar ones like Azrael and Exile/Legion strike (which are crazy powerful), and back when it was OP, spreadfire.

I've not said anything about it being power creep or not, i was just reminding him that it is not Promo Only.

And besides that, it is not OP at all.
Like trans has already said:
quote:

No.. They are like Meteor Cores with +2 bonus damage on opposing alignment which barely makes them on par with Jack-o-Fire or Thorn Assault.

So basically, the power creep is non-existant in this case, since the old cores Jack-o-Fire and Thorn Assualt are still better.
