@Starstruck That's an odd suggestion, but if everyone else likes it, it could be the magic system. But my problem with it is that warrior need to burn calories a lot of the time. So warriors would have high magic potential? Personally, my idea for magic was like this. Each planet has a core that is made of this odd kind of gemstone which is the essence of magic. They glow in different colors too. Depending on which planet you were born determines your magic potency. For instance, the right half of the split planet has high potential for magic, and the blown-to-bits planet has zilch for magic potential. Then, your race determines the type of magic you can cast. Let's say elves use classical D&D style magic. Some other group of people has control over the elements. Dwarves are enchanters. Etcetera. Depending on the potency of the planet core, that magic which you wield is more or less powerful. People born on a dead, or non-potent core can't cast magic. And then I was thinking about having wizards staffs, wands and amulets powered by pieces of the core that have chipped off the main part at some day and age, and can be found in caves or hidden on mountains. These things would simply lengthen the amount of magical energy you have to draw from. That's just my idea. We could also go with leylines or calories, but that's for the community to decide. quote:
Although I have a question, do you have a reason as to why/how the 3rd planet got blown to bits and pieces and why/how the second planet got split down the middle? I couldn't quite get if you needed the history parts to explain that also... I was thinking something along the lines of an asteroid, but if you've a better, more interesting idea, please, go ahead. quote:
On the magic vs. science war for the second planet, and this kinda ties in with how you would have to have the magic system, but you could have it where the war was brought about because when the planet got split in two, the ley lines or whatever you did for magic didn't reach into one half of the planet. So they could have both relied upon magic, but when the magic leaves the one half they turn to science since magic no longer works there. But that's how the war could start, the different factions start trying to take over the other or, because one half relies upon science and the other magic, they could be trying to rid the world of the other. Going with my core idea from above, the core from one side of the planet could have stayed intact, just on one side of the planet. And as for the war part, I was thinking it could start politely when both sides crossed the split. But they would be suspicious of each other, and then maybe one of them would attack and assassinate the leader of one side, bringing out war. Again, just a thought though.
