I noticed how Technician has became a nearly useless skill in Omega since in order to power it up, you need dexterity. If you buff up dex so you can get a decent Technician, you'll have weak points in strength and support. There are only two types of mages these days, Casters and Strength with Support (and high hp). Tech Mages need some variety, and we can get it by making Technician improve by support.

Bounty Hunter's have Reflex Boost and Energy Shield increase by Support so they can use a support build and tank at the same time. Tech Mages however can only tank in Defense, not resistance because it takes a lot of dexterity to get a decent Technician. By switching Technician to being improved by Support, Tech Mages can now have successful support builds.

Doing this, in no way can make Tech Mages overpowered. It will just even out the playing fields in terms of support builds.

support this one , its not fair that the buff is not affected by support.

You're giving the Tech Mages a decent way to make their Plasma Bolt stronger. There are (caster) builds out there that use more Support than Strength.Don't forget that Malfunction will also increase with Support, wouldn't there be a rise of Malfunction using caster TMs?

All I see coming out from this is that they will not get more variety but will increase popularity on the current builds.

In Beta and Gamma, there were a large amount of Support TMs around with decent Strength. The combination worked great since Field Medic would alter depending on your Support.

I was thinking on that before I posted this to be honest, but I doubt it be overpowered. Remember, it's just like a strength build. They'll be hitting you hard, but that's when you attack their weak spots. In order for this to be overpowered, they would need insanely high health and insanely high support which is absolutely unreachable.

Technician could receive a slight nerf in it as well. Just maybe like -5 from all levels to be sure Tech Mages won't be overpowered.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Tech Mages and Technician (6/11/2013 19:19:14)

Um....technitian is one of the most useful skills in the game...

This would OP all sorts of builds

Anyway, right now it is fine as it is

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Tech Mages and Technician (6/11/2013 22:04:17)

Technician is actually a very strong skill. It has high base boosts and good scaling with minimal energy costs when compared to other skills like reflex which have 1/3 more base energy cost at level 1 than technician. Already strong skills like technician increasing with a tanking stat rather than an offensive stat such as support is also a humongous benefit.

Defense matrix, Malf, DA, and technician?

Nope

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: Tech Mages and Technician (6/13/2013 2:18:39)

as a TM, i disagree that the class needs variety because in reality it is the class who has more variety into their build. Heres some of decent and fun builds that a TM can create.

1. Str/support build (the most used build nowadays due to azrael will)
2. Caster high tech/average dex TM w/level 5 plasma and level 5 Super charge (this is what im using today and its definitely fun to use)
3. Focus TM (still very effective due to malfunction)
4. High Dex Overload/Plasma Rain build (still playable in 2 vs )
5. High Support TM (works well due to high malfunction and the advantage of going first)

So see, is that what you call TM needs a little variety?? sorry dude but i don't think so.

DeamJean -> RE: Tech Mages and Technician (6/23/2013 12:33:16)

ok i would say that technician should NOT rise with support. Reason is simple. Technician combined with malfunction is a deadly enough combo for 5 focus support. they just bot you and its hard. Two since super charge increases with tech now wont it make it a bit overpowered. Technician was just a skill to increase tech to fill the malfunction debuff
