The Incredible Hulk -> Faction problems (6/11/2013 17:46:33)

I just want to know one thing. Lately faction have been hating other factions.

Why do factions hate other factions?
-Is it because they own WD
-Because they take away peoples champs
-Dominating 2v2/1v1
-Taking away other members from other factions

Also I have spotted another thing.

Why is a friend from another faction lie to you? Well I had one now saying that ''I invited him to join ''THE LOVE'' ' When I didn't. He didn't have no proof what so ever and he couldn't even print screen it to show me on facebook or something. I asked a load of my friends, and they didn't get a message from me saying that. Strange......I wonder why faction lie to eachother.... especially in a game.

Q...Q -> RE: Faction problems (6/11/2013 18:00:35)

Because most of the players of ED are under 16. Speaks behind back of people.

from my experience, some reasons why i disliked/hated another faction or were hated by others are
- Insults, constant rumor spreading, unneeded drama
- stealing our members (this one is more controversial but it depends more on the situation)
- paying our members to leave (ohh yes, this has happened to my faction)
- other faction cheats (Dummying, account sharing, bribing (basically paying their members for wins and tokens), token hacking, etc)
- we dominated too much, thus getting alot of flak for it.
- Taking another faction's flag, especially when you're dropping 250k+ tokens on it.

back when my faction Control Alt Death was in its prime, we received alot of flak and hate from alot players for dominating too much.
any other faction that went for daily back in the good old days, had to do 4k+ wins to have a decent chance at dailies.

it got to the point when even moderators (wont name them, but it was a few of them) were giving us crap about going too hard and not letting others win.

so while i personally found the faction competition fun, be ready to receive hate from others if you're successful.
these are just faction politics that successful faction have to deal with.

i personally took it as a challenge because it made us stronger to survive through it.

anyway, thats just my experience on it, and my $0.02

Makes me half-wonder if clans are there simply to collect a group of friends, or to recruit mercenaries for an unending war.

You're inactive? I'll kick you out and replace you.
You don't like it here? I'll kick you out and replace you.
You're a good player? I'll give you x if you join us.
We found someone better. I'll kick you out and replace you.

And the best part is, mercenaries in real life (And in here) don't have the same rights as a normal standing soldier.
Simply replace a broken/inefficient part if necessary.

Because clearly, winning a faction war/capture rewards you with something bigger than pride, right?

goldslayer1 -> RE: Faction problems (6/13/2013 16:45:03)

@khalix
yeah that seems to be another thing people complain about, when a faction kicks inactive members.

for the most, a competitive faction will tell players about what they do, expect, and what is required, before they join.
so to say that a player was unfairly kicked for not meeting a faction's requirement, is somewhat of an invalid statement if that player knew before hand.

if a player was causing problems with other faction members (like fighting), then i tried fixing it, but if it continued, then a more decisive action needed to be taken. if your in a competitive faction, the last thing you want is a player breaking your faction apart with problems or drama within your own faction. it doesn't suit well with your other members, and if the problem continues, players will start to leave.

as for a player not liking the faction he's in, why is he in it? :o

Virtual friends in a pretend world. Don't worry about it. It's Irreverent unless it translates into reality. I:e were talking about actual friends here who you game with online.

toopygoo -> RE: Faction problems (6/13/2013 21:22:53)

i should imply an anti-hate rule in my faction. and council... XD :D

Mm, have to disagree here. Actions, even those in a game, can affect real people in real ways. Additionally, I've met many friends I would consider close through gaming/online interactions.

On topic: some of the changes we're making in the war system are intended to help with this kind of inter-faction conflict. Though I think some amount of conflict is good (this is a PvP game after all :P), we don't want the game's mechanics to encourage toxicity, especially between members of the same alignment.

King Helios -> RE: Faction problems (6/14/2013 13:09:45)

Faction alliances? Faction pages? Those are both good suggestions by players. :D

I know that conflict is good and fun but I'm talking about the really harsh ones like:
-Backbiting
-Backchatting
-Hating each member because of faction
-Swearing
-Lying alot (When I mean alot, It's alot)
-hating people when they haven't even met them in-game.

The two I'm concern about is back biting and back chatting in the game.

@rabblefrothAE

Why don't you guys moderate chats in-game? I know it's like spying but I think it's beneficial.

King Helios -> RE: Faction problems (6/14/2013 13:42:37)

Yeah, Rabble, monitor chats.

O-o-o-o-bama!

Really though, you guys should do that kinda thing, or at least have more mods on in places like Slayer 6, Oz 6, Naomi 0, etc.

RabbleFroth -> RE: Faction problems (6/14/2013 18:17:27)

Haha, I didn't mean trying to get rid of drama/toxicity as far as moderation or such goes. I think the current flag system's mechanics directly drove most factions to compete against each other as a unit, which makes it easier for people to call out individuals in a problematic way. The new war system puts the focus more on the alignment, which is more abstract, and should encourage factions of the same alignment to work together, rather than compete.

The hope here is that the mechanics drive cooperation, rather than just trying to find and strike down bad behavior.

I love dat song >:D! Always thought it was just a song title :D.....

So no particular faction owns any point? just an alignment as a whole?
Will the points keep record of the main faction contributors?

Q...Q -> RE: Faction problems (6/14/2013 20:50:08)

@Bloodpact

System of a down!!!!!!!!!
