What about passives changing into actives ?

Shelved temporarily due to the war being a higher priority.

1. Are there any reward/s for controlling a specific area??
2. Are there any alignment specific cheevo??
3. What are the use/s of war chest in this war??

1. Not for specifically controlling say, Fortune City. It is a planned feature though.
2. We're looking at adding more achievements surrounding this system soon. Alignment-specific ones are a good idea!
3. We aren't quite done with the part of the war that War Chests will help with, though we want to get it done very soon after the initial launch.

To clarify on the Token change, it will not be going live this week. Our schedule was very ambitious, and we had to make a few cuts to make it this week. This shouldn't affect you aside from the additional time before you get all those Credits.

quote:

How about Flag Capture cheevo? It will be replaced by the new token contribution achievement or remain a rare one?

The Flag Capture achievement won't be replaced by the contribution achievement, no.

quote:

And about balance changes, maybe they will show them at the patch notes.

We've been full-bore developing the war for a few weeks now, skill changes had to be pushed until after things settle down a little on that front. Not the answer you probably want, but it is the truth. :(

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 13:23:39)

YES, NO nerfs..... finally.

King Helios -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 13:26:21)

So, the war isn't staring this week? Or is? idk

Rayman -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 13:28:20)

ReinVI -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 13:45:49)

Hopefully those dumb war chests wont be a simple "pay2winwar" item... if it is I'm gonna be so mad ._. mainly because it would give whichever side has more players with chests a unfair edge. On the topic of the rest of the war. Well I like the fact that it's going live today ( on time! I think? ) even though I wont be able to enjoy it till passed 10 tonight due to friday night magic.

21 objectives... well I suppose some won't even be contested or at least the contest will be small! 900 players fighting over 21 objectives is roughly 21 players on each side fighting over a single objective at the exact same time ( funny how that works out xD ) but that's only if there is indeed an equal amount of legion compared to exile.

Balance wise I for one am actually happy they shelved that silly passive to active update. I guess I'm one of the few that feels taking a way a classes passives literally takes away what makes it the class it signifies. What's a merc without passive armor? a hunter with a hammer... a hunter without blood lust? a clawed merc with smoke, cyber hunter w/o pa ... a clawed techmage blood mage with out blood lust? it's a mage... sadly it's going to blur the line of each class to the point where there really isn't classes more than people who use a specific primary. An all active combat system imo is a horrible idea.

Depressing to know that I won't be scoring a boost in credits this week I really needed them for the new war weapons... kind of a bummer to be honest but I understand the reasoning behind it and won't complain like some people would! I'm just glad the wars out on time.

Credit increase to battles is a nice touch but I'm not really sure how much help 5 credits will be... that's 1000 wins at 32 = 32000 vs 1000 at 37 still only 37000 which isn't that drastic of an increase I would have to say 40 is a good number mostly because I like numbers that end in 0 or 5 due to various reasons! but 40 for a 1v1 win and 80 for a 2v2 seems fair... least to me with how expensive stuff is becoming compared to the time it takes to actually gain that 1000 wins. ( 75% ratio would mean 1250 battles at 2 minutes a battle almost 42 hours or so of game time for one weapon. at least war wise so if that was say someone who can only play 5 hours a day due to bed time or whatever job etc that would be 8 days and 2 into a ninth for that one weapon.
just my opinion on the matter! don't pay attention if you don't want to :P

All in all I like the update so thumbs up!

P.S. if you add in war objective buffs please don't make the buffs strong enough to where as soon as one side gains 60% of the buffs it just becomes a snowballing mess leading up to the side with 40%'s demise >.>

Drianx -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 14:03:41)

Wow such a big DNs and such a small amount of actual information.
Cinderella has actually for-goofed to tell what do you need to do in the war? Click 1v1? NOT click 1v1? Challenge players? Go AFK in the Dread Plains? /dance in the Dread Plains?

beastmo -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 14:14:25)

What about the current battle system? Atm its pretty bad

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= June 21, 2013 - War Begins! (6/21/2013 14:17:32)

It was already explained before, Drianx that controlling Flags will be done via PvP fights instead of dumping Tokens. War Objectives work on the same basis, it even says so in DNs. Both of these things were mentioned in today's DNs and the one last week or the week before. That's why you read it carefully instead of skimming over it.

Mother1 -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 14:18:45)

will the tiered war cheevos be coming back? In the infernal war that was mentioned but in this one they didn't mention it. I hope they are coming back that is what made me work hard last war.

And you understood nothing of it just like me otherwise you would have posted something more useful.
Sample of clear explanation >> Previously you had to click the flag and then one of the Donate buttons for increasing your faction dominance on that flag.
HOW exactly will you control flags now?

Ranloth -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 14:50:47)

By fighting in the area where the Flag is. I'll just put in few quotes from past DNs that explain it. They are there, you can check for youself.

quote:

As we phase out Battle Tokens, War Flags will be transitioned into War Objectives, which will be captured and controlled by Faction and alignment battles, not donations. For the time being, however, the top contributor of each War Flag will own the War Objective for that Faction's alignment. So, if the Legion Faction “The Sparkling Vampires” holds the War Flag in “The Land of Terrible Fiction,” then they would be the first to claim the War Objective for the Legion in that area. But we are making these Objectives more challenging than simply dumping Battle Tokens into a flag. Also, there will be a control cap on each Objective, meaning that an alignment cannot build and insurmountable lead on an Objective.

Source: Daring Design Notes - June 13th, 2013
quote:

How do you capture these objectives? Battle. You will need to visit the physical location of the objective and queue for battle. Battle victories will award influence, but this time the influence will apply toward the objective's capture bar. Unlike the old Flag system that allows Factions to collect, store, and dump a massive amount of Battle Tokens to secure a flag, these points can only be captured by the collective efforts of all Factions of an alignment. Top Factions will still be honored, but the emphasis will be more on the alignment vs. alignment struggle rather than Faction vs. Faction.

Just discussed this, going to revert the change for now until a better solution can be found.

quote:

will the tiered war cheevos be coming back?

We discussed the beginnings of something like them that I'm pretty excited about, but we'll talk about that when we're more sure of it. Since this is a more permanent system unlike the Infernal War, we probably won't bring those types of achievements back in the *exact* same way, but we want something that feels very similar (and hopefully even better!).

quote:

HOW exactly will you control flags now?

Winning a fight on a map with a War Objective will generate "Control" for your alignment. Essentially whoever has more Control takes ownership of the Objective.

To go into a little more detail, Control is a moving number, not a grand total for each side. So let's say Exiles have 20 Control on something. Every time a Legion member wins a fight on the map, Exiles would lose 5 Control. Once Legion brings the Control down to 0, they now control it. Exiles can prevent this by also fighting on the point, and generating more Control for themselves.

Also, not sure if this has been talked about yet, but once it changes hands, the point will go into "Cooldown" meaning no one can generate control for it during that time. This is to give everyone a breather, or give you a reason to move onto another Objective for a while.

EVERYONE GO TO THE DREAD PLAINS AND DANCE, DRIANX IS BUYING

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 15:09:43)

Will the points of the control be different. Say if you win a 1v1 with 5 points of control, would 2v2 have more then that? or no?

It is official the staff has finally chosen to undo one of it's changes.

But thanks for answering my question Rabble.

stormdragonfire -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 16:37:12)

Rabblefroth what time will the update go live?

Soon?

Please answer this.

Ranloth -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 16:40:31)

Ready o' clock on the 32nd of Febtober.

Even Devs don't know. When it's ready, it's ready. There's no specific answer.

stormdragonfire -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 16:43:02)

They said it was coming today why don't they just release it already???

Ranloth -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 16:45:10)

It is coming today, there is no set time for it. When it's ready, it'll be ready. Why won't they release it? Because coding it takes some time as well. inb4 they've had weeks to do it - they did and they still are coding it.

The Incredible Hulk -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 16:54:35)

Best thing to do is wake up for reset.

Control for now will be equivalent to the amount of Influence you gain for that battle mode.

Kd -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 19:00:11)

Yay! Now I'm excited.

vordalthe2nd -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 19:02:55)

I now fully understand what is going on in this war thanks to Rabblefroth.
I know that updates on skills and balance changes are being shelved, but i'm wondering if the level cap of 35 is being increased anytime soon?

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: DN 21/6 (6/21/2013 19:12:54)

Too bad I left my alliance awhile back. No cheevo for me but I do get a nice pay check to help me out of the red when it comes to credits.

All in all these changes I have been reading about in the DN's might be the spark ED needed to make it fresh again because it just feels stale to me at the moment but that may just be the result of 3 years of playing
