Lord Machaar -> Official ED channel on youtube (7/1/2013 20:41:24)

I remember in the infernal war, the channel helped us a lot, the moderators explained pretty much everything, but when the dread war came, which is obviously pretty much more complicated than the 2 latest wars, and that's ofcourse thanks to the new "Genuis" system... I noticed that the channel is just like forgetten, no activity for like a 1/4 year (3 months), while instead of making a long DNs of how to war (which I found it long and didn't read it, and that's why I also didn't get my Token Contributor Achievement, while I contributed over 20k tokens, anyways), you can simply make a 3 or 4 minutes length video you can explain pretty everything instead of solid pictures and long paragraphes, and ofcourse that's why you hire the MODs, to help the community, unless if they were *TOO BUSY* for their duty, I really miss you (Practel, I guess you turned 18 and you are legal now). I mean just hire bunch of passioned players and they will make a video everyday non-stop... Tell me about what do you think guys, and do you think the channel in youtube is the best way to communicate with players?

I would be happy to make Videos explaining it all for the Official Epic Duel channel.

It can't take that long!

Unfortunately there are no more mods which are active that can do videos for the ED YouTube channel currently. Which is why no more videos have been made for the site.

Next time there is a call for mods/testers put on the application you are interested in making videos. In the mean time brush up your own videos for your personal use. Things like making your own tutorials, adding your own commentary, if you add music make sure it is tasteful. These are things we look at in terms of quality when looking at videos and accepting anyone to be a ED video creator.

Some general rules of thumb we take into consideration for ED youtube videos to give you a heads up.

►No cussing - must keep PG obviously

►All videos need to include the 10 to 15 second intro video.

►Remember you are providing a informational service to the EpicDuel player base. The information has to be current, videos clearly have to have a purpose and well planned out.

►Don't blatantly advertise yourself or others. Not only is it a good general rule of thumb but we want the channel to be more informal to the player base.

►No program “water marks” can be seen in the videos. This is typical and common to see in free programs.

►Keep aspect ratios the same, do not not stretch the video or assets to fill widescreen format. This includes no stretching of text or added graphics.

►Any text/typography used in the video must be clear and easy to read.

►All videos have to include clear audio commentary in English.

►Video length should be 1 - 3 minutes. If there is more content to cover, think about breaking up the video into smaller bites.

►If you use any music make sure its royalty free and has no words.

►No cheesy transitions, like water ripples, window blinds or anything you would see on a 6th grade power point presentation.

►If you use sound effects, keep it tasteful. :)

Yeah, thanks for the respone. well, in my opinion, a contest would be good to encourage players to make useful videos, if the mods are busy, there are players who are willing to make videos and tutorials to help other players, and especially in special events, and I mean by that "The dread plains war", I get a lot of questions, and one of them is about how to get the new regional achievements, and it's pretty hard to repeat the same thing over and over, so 3 or 2 minutes long video will do the job easily and cover up a wide number of players, that's my opinion anyways!

Ranloth -> RE: Official ED channel on youtube (7/2/2013 14:48:14)

To add to the above, in case of a delay, videos could still be made to at least show us work is being done (and progressing forward) and make us anticipate the release even more. It's always good to know what's done and what needs to be done + possible features, rather than having everything on paper and left in the dark.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Official ED channel on youtube (7/2/2013 16:16:21)

The EDMU team has been okay at covering the war up to this point(my video excluded it was a fail of a test) but we are no where near official and you could probably find others just by looking up EpicDuel Dread War on youtube.

Still these other users/teams are not official so we all put a spin on the information because we don't know everything official team would know

Nothing wrong with everyone giving his personal try at making a video. [;)]

Together with Charfade's rules, try to be original, interesting yet informative. A community like this should be more then possible to make some interesting video's [:D]
