Exploding Penguin -> Adding more offensive options to support (7/7/2013 1:12:01)

The problem with support builds now is that support does not grant that many offensive options other than the extremely unpredictable critical hit rate and the solid aux damage which has a long 3-turn cooldown. Therefore, I'm suggesting support-relevant changes to skills/new skills to buff and increase the fun factor while adding more build variety to many classes. This may be conflicting with many other ideas though such as the "minimal luck" concept, but this is really for making ED more fun, providing more build variety, and to buff some slightly weaker classes.

Fireball:
-Increased base damage by 2
-Increases with support instead of strength
-Same dex requirements
[This will give BM a viable support build with its already strong support synergy of intimidate, reflex, and energy shield. Before, it was a very weak build to invest mainly in support because of the huge lack of offensive options which was greatly needed to fuel blood lust. With a change to support with fireball, this should promote more support builds and bring a brand new type of build into the class]

Sneak Attack (new BH skill):
-Replaces cheap shot
-Increases with support, no stat requirements
-Deals an unblockable percentage of a normal aux attack, with moderate energy costs (around 15 at lowest level to 30 at max). Each skill point investment will grant +5% more, and eventually +3% more at higher skill point investments.
-Cooldown 2
-Scales about as fast as plasma bolt and has a very, very low base value before calculating the added damage from the improving sta
-The % can increase with more strength, as well as with stat point investment

Pacify (new TLM skill):
-Replaces field commander
-Cooldown 4
-Deals normal strike damage and removes a percentage of the opponent's rage.
-More support will lower the energy cost by 1 EP cost per 9 support
-EP cost does not increase with more skill points, and before calculating the discount from support its base is 22 cost
-Each skill point investment will remove an extra 2.5%, and eventually 2%
-If blocked, you will actually remove an additional 15% rage rather than losing the effects

1 fireball would make an OP build just imagine

45str
45dex
45tech
xxsupp

now you focus stat points on support/ tech

with this massive amount of support you will have it will also be buffing Reflex boost.
now imagine fireball boosted by support dealing unblockable damage, then there's reflex boost which would be +50 probably at the least if leveled right.. now using this
not only will your defense be boosted your stun move AND multi will be be boosted damage wise.. so that's three different unblockables on top of whatever unblockable cores you might have
support build = pure unblockable build pretty much.

2 pacify would make it possible to make a rage stopper build ( SS, pacify, chairmans ) that would stall rage long enough to let there tankiness to give them a bit to much of a defensive edge.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Adding more offensive options to support (7/7/2013 2:11:30)

I like the tactical mercenary replacement, but I'm not sure if the other two sound nice...

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Adding more offensive options to support (7/7/2013 3:00:22)

I don't support any of these. Support is already heavily offensive; increased rage gain, increased critical chance and almost guaranteed first turn strike, coupled with intimidating aux damage and debilitating offensive skills (malf/artillery strike) make support builds deadly.

Specifically:

-BMs already have stellar support synergy. There is no need to unbalance that synergy by making it overpowered.
-I don't quite see the point of a BH skill change. Sounds to me like Deadly Aim with an energy cost. Cheap Shot, while blockable, would probably be more useful due to its low cost and increased critical chance.
-As ReinVI said, TLMs really don't need to get tankier.

@Silver Sky: Have you ever tried a support BM before? I can tell you for a fact that it is one of the worst build types you can make for BM, simply because you don't have enough offensive options to support blood lust, even with deadly aim. The synergy at first may look amazing, but those are all defensive-based skills increasing with support, and they can easily be countered by an opposing support build who has more offensive options such as a class with malf or artillery strike. Azrael's mark would also make short work of what would otherwise be great BM support synergy.

As for TLM, there are pretty much no other options to increase its offensive capacity, but it's without a doubt that the class is at least slightly weaker compared to other classes in a 1v1 setup. Rather than trying to find replacements for offensive options, I decided to try a defensive one instead.

Rage simply needs to get fixed. Strength affects rage too much.
