Dual Thrusters -> New Cheevo (7/23/2013 19:58:04)

There should be a new cheevo for switching alignments, just like class changing and name changing.

Cheevo Name: Betrayed <exile/legion>
Description: You successfully betrayed you're faction! Traitor.
Rating points: 1

Ranloth -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 20:05:04)

I think we don't need anything to encourage switching, really. Even if it's 1 Rating Point, it's still a cheevo that's exclusive. It has Varium price to put people off changing alignments, not be awarded for it.

Lord Machaar -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 20:11:32)

I support this idea, we can spot betrayors easily with this cheevo.

Mother1 -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 20:12:40)

Not supported.

The main reason it was made varium only and quite a hefty price of varium at that is to discourage this. Adding a cheevo will only encourage alliance jumping.

Scyze -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 20:31:32)

Encouraging people to change their alignment so they get an Achievement? Nahh, no point. The Achievement that was given if you changed your name wasn't supposed to be permanent. I changed my name because it said it was for a limited time only. But noooohh.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 21:19:05)

How about -100 rating points?

King Helios -> RE: New Cheevo (7/23/2013 21:21:18)

I support it at 0 Rating Points for the reason Lord Machaar stated.

Mysterion. -> RE: New Cheevo (7/24/2013 9:55:58)

I would support it if it had -1000 Ratings.
Punishment for the unloyalists.

Predator9657 -> RE: New Cheevo (7/24/2013 13:48:42)

^
What he said :D

Exploding Penguin -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 12:36:33)

@Mysterion: =unfair for some players like me who either got forced into a faction of the unwanted alignment or for players who went away from the game and recently came back.

Honestly, this entire idea is silly and alignment locking should only happen during wars. I wanted a faction with all my friends in it and not to actually be a large part of war objectives and stuff, but now if I want that to happen all my friends will have to switch alignments. Factions should be more like guilds and not as focused as they currently are on the story and on wars.

LigerBeard -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 13:10:40)

^I admit, I do agree that it would be slightly unfair to people who got forced into an alignment they didn't want to be in, and that instead of subtracting points, that it could simply be dirt cheap in rating points, like 50 or something(That's just my opinion of cheap, though).

However:

The factions are supposed to be like that in a way, and if they didn't have them as focused on the story, it wouldn't be as coherent and the plot would be slightly shifted.

I arrived at this conclusion because the word "guild" simply means, "a group of people joined for a common cause". In this sense, the 2 alignments are very similar to guilds, because of 2 common yet radically different purposes. Therefore, making them more like guilds might inadvertingly create new alignments with different purposes, making the story much more confusing and complex enough to drive people away from ED as a whole.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 13:37:58)

You know, I think It would be fine at 1 rating point. I don't see how it could encourage alignment jumping, and if it did exiles would might also switch to legion, therefore leading to mixed results.

Charfade -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 15:00:26)

I can tell you right now we will not be implementing an alignment switching achievement.

The reason for this was seen in the flaws of the Frystland war where switching sides to get an extra achievement was a really big issue. Even if it was 0 rating points, we do not want to encourage alignment switching at all.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 19:00:02)

@Ligerbeard: I would not have a problem with alignments being a near equivalent to guild, but you can't even message people or private chat them unless they're in your friends list and/or in your faction. Also, the faction message board is a big highlight of why I want my friends to be in the same fac, so it's easier to give shoutout communication rather than a series of PMs.

King Helios -> RE: New Cheevo (7/25/2013 19:37:07)

@Charfade, who would be proud of an achievement that basically calls you a traitor? Also, is it possible to make achievements with negative Rating Points?
