EpicIsEpic -> Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 10:25:58)

Now it is very easy and cheap to copy other players build.
But what if we made it so you can't fight the class that you are.

E.g. You are a BH so you can't fight another BH

This would slow down the time you find a battle by 1/6th but it would become almost impossible to copy other players build.

I guess the question really is: Would you rather have more build diversity but slower finding time or shorter finding time with less build diversity.

IMO: I rather wait a little bit longer and don't see the same build every where than wait a bit less but see the same build everywhere.

This wouldn't solve the build copying compleatly but it would help.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 11:15:32)

Not Supported

I get easy wins off my own class ;P

lionblades -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 11:25:41)

I dont think this is a good idea.
The majority of the 1vs1 classes are a BM
If BM cant fight BM there will be a much longer wait than just 1/6 slower
at the higher levels

ED Divine Darkness -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 12:08:52)

then you could make an invincible build on bh. high energy shield cos you wont be facing smoke, and good damage. invincible build.

not supported.

Won't solve anything. Ever hear of class change? or using alts? If I used an alt and saw a good build for one of my other accounts I could just copy that build to the matching class. Plus I don't support this because it will make matches harder to find.

This will only add double negatives and no positives. Increased wait times and there would still be no diversity. Why because as I said you can get around this easily by using alts that aren't of the same class and see the builds, and copy them to your main. Or better yet you can still see a build for another class and then if you want to you can class change and copy that build you saw.

As mentioned many times the masses don't care about diversity they care about winning, and they would use the same cookie cutter builds to get wins if the build has a decent win rate rather than experiment and get clobbered trying to find a good unique build.

With an already small player base you want to cut into player pools even more to hopefully show down build copying when this won't be the case? If it stopped build copying completely I would be more incline to support this idea, but the pro's of this idea don't outweight the con's so I don't support this idea.

Segawoman -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 13:39:46)

I would make a really detailed counterpoint like @Mother1 but it's easier and more obvious if I just type in;

TRizZzCENTRINO -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/1/2013 20:26:00)

this would never happen since all these suggestions would ruin the game instead of making it better, sorry, but build copying is inevitable you would just have to deal with it. unless human nature changes, any effort or attempt to make the game a enjoyable, fair place to be in is futile.

Steel Slayer -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/3/2013 10:15:23)

Dude "build copying" is always going to happen. I put that in quotes because it isn't always really "copying", sometimes it's coincidence that 2 people come up with very similar builds. That's because there are only 3, maybe 4 builds per class that are actually any good. There may be some variations within those builds, but honestly each class has only a few moves that someone can actually build around, that's the way it kinda has to be. And who cares if people "copy" builds anyway, isn't that part of the learning process? You see someone else doing something that looks fun, or effective, or interesting or whatever, you try it out, you maybe tweak it a little bit. Eventually you try something else for whatever reason. Heck maybe you try a build out, just to learn it's weaknesses so that you can more effectively combat it. With thousands of peeps playing the game, eventually all the combinations possible will be tried, after that, EVERY build could be considered to be "copied". Despite all the complaints on these forums about it, build copying is not only necessary, but its actually a good thing for the game.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/6/2013 1:06:27)

Not supported because when you first play ED, you get better by playing your class and watching what they do in battle. This would be extremely hard on the lower levels.

Because of that, not supported. Keep thinking of a way to fix this issue though. Maybe you can add onto this. There should be some system out there that makes copying builds a thing of the past.

Why I don't support this idea.
Mother1 has said all that needed to be said but I could add this.
about 70% to 95% of ED players would rather have build copying then waiting. Waiting 5 to 20 minutes or longer to find a match would lower player base a bit from all the waiting and lower player pool and high levels would suffer since the amount of players at level 30 to 35 is short a bit. This wouldn't help the game at all by making players wait to fine a battle.

Lycan. -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/6/2013 8:04:28)

I think Omega lost so many players because of this, no build diversity.
Anyway not supported, last thing i want is to find a battle in 10 minutes

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/7/2013 0:46:27)

@Lycan: The lack of build diversity is caused by the battle environment set up by Omega's new stat and HP system. Randomly experimenting with builds with rarely yield a good result, probably less than 1/3 as often as random build testing back in previous phases did. Therefore, build copying or replica builds which were thought up at the same time but weren't exactly copied are coming up; people are just choosing the simplest ideas as builds.

As for the suggestion, build copying never really got on my nerves so not supported. I just found a counter to the build and wreaked havoc on all the copiers. Low and behold, those people copy my build so they can counter too, and then we get people who rant on the forums about their copied build not working at all. It cycles like this back and forth, even in previous phases, and even if we limit build copying people will, without a doubt, eventually make replica builds using their own minds.

newtena -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/7/2013 11:12:50)

i do not want to wait.

jack toaster -> RE: Making build copying more difficult (8/7/2013 12:27:45)

lol capitalism on stats builds? I think it should be in settings so if you lock people from seeing your stats you can't see theirs either.
