Queen brutella -> Lag (8/3/2013 20:45:08)

Lag is a common error that annoys us all. It seems to appear at the wrong times! Sometimes the lag is so bad it kicks you out of the server or in a pvp match (2v2) Also it counts as a loss on your record ( which actually bugs me!) In addition to it skips your go and then the other team may have a upper hand :/

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 20:54:41)

There is really nothing that can be done about it, it happens in any mmo :/

Queen brutella -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 20:59:09)

True :/ To be honest ED has the worst lag I've ever experienced in my mmo life.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 21:00:41)

People with slow computers also contribute to long pauses.

Queen brutella -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 21:14:44)

I also agree but a range of slow lags occur to even people with fast pc's. As well as they can last for quite a while (making the whole chat room lag as well)

Predator9657 -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 21:18:30)

If possible, maybe make lags which kick you out of a server not count towards your record?

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Lag (8/3/2013 21:24:03)

^They can't tell if it was server lag or disconnect.

Queen brutella -> RE: Lag (8/4/2013 8:24:37)

I wish if there was a lag it shouldn't count towards your record. Also when you DC :/

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Lag (8/4/2013 23:09:39)

Disconnects could be abused this way.

Pull the Internet plug on your computer or turn off the Wi-Fi and you get to run from a game that you were about to lose.

Greed Redemption -> RE: Lag (8/4/2013 23:50:31)

I know how you feel queen, I had a partner who died but I was going to win anyway and all I needed was 1 turn to win then, I lost connection.[:@] I wish there was a way to stop the lag but there is not.

Segawoman -> RE: Lag (8/5/2013 2:41:13)

Why is this in Suggestions when you're only discussing about lag?

You need a fast computer and a fast internet connection. Both. If your computer downloads, processes and uploads information quickly but your ISP is limited to a download speed of 1Mbps it really does not matter how fast your computer is. Maybe your ISP promises a higher download speed like 15Mbps but you still get only 1. A network component like a router may be dysfunctional while your computer and main cable may have high processing speeds.

And if you are talking about what I think you are talking about, lag does not always affect other players. All players are affected only when there is server lag. The server hosts the players, unlike in CoD where 1 of the players hosts the match. So if the server is fine, even if 1 player in EpicDuel lags, everyone else will not lag.

Lycus -> RE: Lag (8/5/2013 16:18:41)

Locking this up since this is not really a suggestion, nor helpful at all!

If you are experiencing lag, then there are quite a few steps you can try to take to minimise it. You cannot purely base it on the game, since it does contribute, but the computer and internet connection are the main issues - internet speed being the main one. It is understood that not everyone can have super fast fibre optic broadband or anything like that, however if people do not have fast internet, they have to accept that even with an amazing PC, you will experience some lag.

I can say this because I, myself, had bad internet that made the game lag a lot. I then upgraded my internet to a much faster provider, and it instantly made the game play much faster, on the same PC. This being a basic laptop, using an AMD equivalent to an i3 processor, a low to mid range graphic card and 3GB RAM. Nothing majorly special, but it did the job and when I played the game, sure I played with low graphics and some of the options turned off, but I experienced very little lag because of it, mainly due to my new internet. I then upgraded laptop and got one with an i7 processor, mid-high range graphic card and 8GB RAM. Now I experience no lag, or very little lag when playing with all the settings on and high graphics. The only lag I do tend to get is due to playing against slower players, or possibly in a really full room and even then it is minimum.

Now I am by no means saying everyone should go out and purchase super fast internet and a top-notch laptop/desktop, since not everyone has the means to do this, it can be expensive and may require you to be in a certain location that can be provided to. However, my point is that if you are struggling lag wise, it cannot be purely blamed on the game. I know my experience certainly proves to me, not sure about you guys, that the computer and internet are the main contributes. If you feel the lag is overwhelming, see if you can possibly get a faster internet provider or option and/or a better PC. If not, clear your cache regularly, try to make sure your computer has a fair amount of free hard drive space and is not overwhelmed with loads and loads of programs running at the same time - try just having ED open on its own. Any of these could certainly help!
