Exploding Penguin -> A new way to counter High HP builds (8/10/2013 23:31:12)

Change double strike singularly to do damage based off of a % of the damage that normally would have done.

For example, level 1 double strike does 15% more damage. On a +35 primary weapon, this does 5.25 or 6 extra damage because the system rounds up. What I'm suggesting is so that if my strike hits 100 damage regularly, if I use double strike I will hit 115. If my strike hits 50, I will hit 57.5 or 58. This is a way to make an otherwise useless skill like double strike more useful and make it a viable counter because merc and TLM can easily be overpowered by high-HP+high-damage builds. Against tanks, TLMs and Mercs excel in their play so this would not harm a Merc/TLM v. Tank matchup.

Why is high hp always the focus? What about high tech/dex builds? They're just as strong as any high str/hp builds, often times they're better. This is especially true with the 3 defense debuffing classes.

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: A new way to counter High HP builds (8/11/2013 8:36:00)

Because they are a lot more common, Valkyrie.

First of all, I did not state that high HP builds were OP in any way.

DanniiBoii is right; I could argue celtic cleaver's lucky strike is OP because it makes strength abuse builds extremely difficult to block on their strikes, and it almost completely negates a max shadow arts, let alone almost double the opposite effect of ninja reflexes. But, since fewer people have celtic cleaver, it is less of a noticed problem. The same kind of logic for this situation applies to build populations.

Double strike should be returned to how it used to be IMO

deal with it just as I have been dealing with losing so much as trans says its your build. figure it out.

I never said I had problems with the build. There are a few things I should point out to you:

-Nobody is right all the time. The user Trans is not the all-knowing source of facts when it comes to ED, nor is anyone here on the forums. There are lots of opinion-based discussions and some people would play a greater role in this community if they posted constructively
-There are lots of rock-paper-scissors matchups in ED; a poison bot is a perfect example of this. It is strong against focus tanks, particularly high-tech BH tanks and other similar builds, but it is nearly useless against high HP builds. The point of this thread is mainly to buff merc and TLM because I believe they are a bit behind compared to other classes, as well as to eliminate some factors of rock-paper-scissors matchups
-I (and many other people on the forums) would greatly appreciate it if you would refrain from bluntly accusing me and my build of being the cause for this thread. What this implies to me is that you believe this entire thread is based off of a bias.

This does not necessarily fix the problem; it just gives more offensive options to merc and TLM when countering tanks (as the set damage % boost is best against tanks), and merc/TLM already have good anti-tank possibilities. However, both classes lack in defenses against offensive-focused builds that rely heavily on high HP or low defenses and raw power.

Midnightsoul -> RE: A new way to counter High HP builds (8/15/2013 3:42:41)

Basically, what Exploding means is that all the previously strength based moves now does this:

Strength Damage + (Weapon * Bonus) = Special Attack Power

Honestly, all strength moves should do this.

Supported btw.
