Well ive been thinking that on what ever character you are using if you are the one to move first what do you usually do

Adapt lol, its usually roboting away high Malf or Smoke, using Reflex Boost against Azreal aux to waste a smoke turn, or burning my energy on heal to combat Energy Smash. Everyone pretty much does the same thing in this game so I adapted my build to combat drone tactics.

I say, "Well Met! I can only use canned chat."

As for skills, Malfunction if there is nothing to worry about, EMP if I can cancel a powerful skill and not worry about it later, and Defense Matrix if my opponent has a lot of physical weapons with high damage or smoked me.

Since the question is specifically if I go first,

1. Take away the opponent's energy
2. Debuff
3. Use my most solid attack like bunker, bot, aux, etc...

well, it really depends on the opponent. These questions have limitless possible answers.

^ it takes a lot of skill to do that.

All I do is bot, then aux, then Thorn Assault, then Heal or Surgical Strike, then if my opponent isn't dead yet, I Generator. Then I bot again.

It's a pretty simple Tactical Mercenary method. I usually win 70-80% of the time (it would be higher but thanks to the uprising Blood Mages with that same annoying build I can't...).

Plasma Cannon or gun. If I don't use Plasma Cannon, EMP will take away the opportunity.

Support merc= aux
Tank merc = bunker
Focus merc= debuff with omega core
STR merc= maul

attack if I get first turn, hide myself behind shields and heal if not.

Intimidate if first , or I debuff their smokes/malfs if I'm 2nd.

I look at all the shiny buttons and then become blind temporarily, look up at timer, 4 seconds left, look at a skill, press the robot cuz its cool, lose majority of my health on second - third turn , heal, survive 1 more turn and die on my next turn.

Well, ED has some situations that vary. But if I did go first, I'd probably EMP or use poison spores depending on if it's a high HP build or not.

A real veteran would know the first thing you do when you get into battle is check your opponents health, energy, and build. But these days you just spam skills, don't ya? Strategy isn't required, just copy pasta, and flavour of the month smoothies. Am I right? Thats why nobody said what I did. Right?

Spam STR + Copy mass BM build or typical copy builds

Blocks or Crit, Crit, Crit, Rage Crit

Of course, that is the best thing to do. But in terms of skills I generally start out with a normal bot attack.
