Dual Thrusters -> Level Range Selecting (8/22/2013 22:49:01)

Are you a level 30 who keeps getting trashed by level 35s? Are you a level 35 who is tired of fighting noobs? Well, why not choose your level range?

So in the settings, there will be an option to increase or decrease the level gap with you and your opponents (minimum 2, maximum 5).

Not supported for the following reasons.

1 This can be abused by higher levels who purposely want to get pick on lower levels for easy wins.

2 the player pool as it is right now is extremely small especially at those higher levels. This will cause longer waits since just about 1/2 if not more of the player pool will be off limits

3 what happens if there is no one within that range or players within your level range made it so you can't fight them? You will never get a match.

With such a small population this option would either destroy the pairing system or make waits so long that people rage quit. If we had a bigger player pool at all levels to choose from I could support this, but since we don't I can't.

^ 1: It can't get any worse than it is now.

2 & 3: Maybe have a timer (say 30 secs?) for how long this range will limit you. If the timer is exceeded, then the range is removed, and the system tries to match you up quickly.

I doubt this is anywhere close to being able to code. You're basically adjusting the database yourself, and giving that option to every single player in game.

As it is now we aren't getting these matches on purpose. They are something the system throws at us. With this change people will be doing it willingly on purpose for better chances of winning. That IMO is far worse then it is now.

^ The current range is a max of 5 levels difference. If this suggestion were to be implemented and some 35's chose to stick to a difference of 5, how would it make a difference?

How about make it so that you can only select level ranges higher or equal to yours?

If the coding is object-oriented and the programming team has optimized the system rather than make it a linear, difficult-to-implement program, then it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.

And what about Cap level players? Once again cap level players would be biting the short end of the stick with this. For them it would be either their level or nothing since unlike with every other level they have something else to shoot for.

My suggestion is to modify the gap between players, so say I'm a level 30 and choose my gap as 4, then I could fight as high as a level 34 to as low as a level 26.

Pretty much yea, for a level 35 it's fighting another one or a lower level.

Have a "Withdraw with Honor" from any fight button for 3 or more levels difference without a loss. For those who don't want to fight extra strong/weak opponents. insert it as a core for all. Caveot - Withdraw can only be used as your 1st move, either opponent.

As to your idea -may be limit it to plus or minus 3 until level 31 when it is +4 or-3 until level 35 has -4 levels
That's only one point of Level 35s pool and they could still Withdraw if they didn't want a level 31 or 32

side note: Probably should use Can Chat for battles ( approved response menu )
