yeah... uh... bud? help, but not give an advantage? the purpose of paying for cores of either higher level, or average level, is to get an advantage of some sort, while your opponent can also have the same advantage or a different one. to gain an advantage does not mean to gain the upper hand, but rather to have a boost of some sort, or to have a certain task made easier.

Deathguard is right (imo), he just didn't say it very eloquently. Cores should provide UTILITY instead of power. One person having a core that someone else does not SHOULD NOT put the player who doesn't at a large disadvantage, but rather give the player who does have the core a wider set of options. The issue with current cores, is that some give huge advantages, others counter certain strategies, and its just a complete mess. Small advantages are fine, but cores that limit the strategy of an opposing player are just outright silly when said player put together a build to use a specific strategy. A clear example of this is the Azrael gun/aux, which limits the opponent to literally 1 option (how dumb). Utility people, utility...Thats what cores and more importantly robots (cores are just an extension of the robot mechanic) were meant to be used for, and how they should be used.

Lets see if ED will live that much longer. [;)]
