How much fun are you having while playing Epic Duel these days?

If you think the game is fun, tell me why. If you're not enjoying it, tell me what you think the game is lacking and that could potentially make the game more fun for you if implemented in the future.

(PS. not sure if this thread belongs in general discussion)

GearzHeadz -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/1/2013 11:51:32)

I have fun. When the luck system is in my favor. I don't have fun when it isn't. The current system has so much of a luck implementation that it is hard to just enjoy common fights between players without getting frustrated.

I agree with that^

The 2v2 system fails so much i dont know what made the devs implement the Exile vs Legion thing because it creates a longer wait time for 2v2 not only that but very unfair battles due to the alignment people are in.

I think these are the things that ruin the fun:-
- The huge role that luck plays
- Unfair matching system which is due to alignment side and takes costs extra time to get a battle

To solve these issues they could:-
- Reintroduce the 2 HP per stat point like before which would mean luck has less effect also they could put agility back for HP abusers.
- Implement some more anti-luck cores just like lucky strike and aim assist
- Disintegrate the Legion vs Exile battle engine

Lord Noonien Soong -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/1/2013 11:59:43)

meh, the fun Factor left me after awhile, just The releases didnt have anymore spark, any my char became n00by, and I dont think it needs much really

Cookielord12 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/1/2013 12:35:26)

I stopped 'having fun' when the releases that needed a lengthy amount of time to complete stopped, so after Arborgeddon. Since then, its just been a bunch of hollow releases, in my opinion, that haven't given me any incentive to keep playing after the weekend.

I appreciate that they are attempting to improve what's in the game at the moment, but new content has pretty much stopped. I'd like to see and end to this 'war' and for the storyline to progress.

And the lack of balance in PvP doesn't do any favours for ED.

lionblades -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/1/2013 13:57:11)

A lot of my Delta buddies left after Omega.

Many of my friends quit because there was no point in playing since the more you play the worse your win ratio gets (98%-70%) and most people in game like to show off etc.

There is also less social interaction in ED now.

Also, most people play games to relieve stress, and it doesn't help that 1 block or stun can literally turn the whole game around and make you lose.

I barely go on ED anymore, and only about 30 min per new release. So no, ED is not that fun atm.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/1/2013 22:24:12)

In my opinion, (thats right, an opinion, i hope it doesn't get anyone's feelings hurt) it has some things and it lacks some things.

What it has: (that is bad)
- Too much luck
- Omega
- Omega
- Omega

What it lacks: (Generally things that would make the game better if it were to be fixed/rectified/implemented)
- Proper match making system (mostly aimed for Jugger and team)
- Team ally link
- Proper Character progression via PvE aspects (i.e NPC wins. the game runs on wins. i shouldn't have to remind people of that)
- Alternatives for balance, such as Custom "Classes" which would bring more creativity, diversity, and make it easier on the devs to balance the game since they would mainly be balancing skills instead of classes with overlapping skills. it would also make it easier to add new skills into the game without needing to make a new classes or remove one from a current skill tree.
- Proper Stat balance. the current stat system is not balanced, ranging from progressions to HP/EP.

i could make a bigger list of things it lacks, but i would be considered too un-constructive despite these things being legit arguments regarding their respective topics.

Lol true.

The game is still a little fun to me, 2 HP Per Health Stat would make it another little bit more fun for me and I also think that removing 5 classes and leaving TM Alone and then making FM improve with supp again would make it better than omega, everyone with a HealLoop Support TM.

I belive that soon or on christmas we are going to get something fun, hope it's worth the wait.

Mother1 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 2:19:03)

@ rayman

Heal looping thanks to Generator and tanks builds has been brought back in omega. I see it a lot in those long battles, and I have been able to heal loop in several battles so there is no need to do that since as I said before heal looping is in omega.

Rayman -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 2:25:32)

^
I know you can still manage to heal loop a little bit, but im only talking about TM, healLoop supp tm, the old one the fun one.

Shajun Ki -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 13:49:36)

Epic Duel is no longer fun for me. What is there to do that's "fun"? Battles are boring and repetitive. This war hasn't progressed since the day it was released. These cores are about as fun as playing with a rock.

The team made a mistake with the release of omega and they need to admit it and do something about it.

martinsen5 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 13:58:12)

@Shajun Ki, I wouldn't say the game was any different before the cores came out. I mean, most of these cores were already added onto armours and weapons, then later turned into passive cores.

As for the reptetive battles, yes I agree. There's really no goal in PvP except from reaching level cap, and once you hit 35 there's no point. Cores have more or less become the main focus of this game now, yet we're not seeing a whole lot of variety. Creating more cores, not just promo cores, in my opinion would be a good place to start to make ED more enjoyable.

Mother1 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 17:22:13)

Until the players lose the

Winning = fun

Mentality there will be no fun.

As long as we have this with the masses there will be little to no diversity, those who are diverse will 9/10 become punching bags to the zombie builds, People will complain about everything that beat them and want those builds nerfed Etc.

I myself have a few select builds for each class, and use those build for X class. I win some I lose some, however most of the time I enjoy the game.

GearzHeadz -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 17:44:37)

A new health system would be good... Would lengthen battles. Maybe every other health point giving you 2 hp points instead of one would be more balanced then every point giving you 2.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 18:22:15)

Ever since I've first started playing epicduel, theres been things that I have had to do myself to have fun with this game. What are these things? I'll try and break it down for all of you.

Step 1
Establish a purpose

What does this mean exactly? In order for you to look forward to your gaming experience you need to have a goal. What this goal is can be anything. My current goal is to upgrade all my weapons to level 35 with skill cores. Here are some other examples.

  • Get credits for that weapon you desire

  • Get a good number of wins in your faction

  • Complete every mission

  • Become a certain rank

Now that we've established purpose, theres still somethings we need to do.

    Step 2
Establish a set time to do so

This is an extremely important step. Set up a time frame for playing EpicDuel. For me, I want credits to get that weapon I desire. I play during powerhour and farm NPC's untill it's over.

Power hour is at 7:00 for me, so in the afternoon I stop what i'm doing and play epicduel for an hour or so.

    Why is this important?

This is important because it will give you something to look forward to. And since you're only going to be playing for an hour you will be able to focus only on these things and get them done. I just speam NPC's for an hour and believe it or not, I actually look forward to logging onto ED and doing this everyday.

    Step 3
Have something going on at the same time

What does this mean? For some people it could mean listening to music while playing epic duel. And to others it could mean talk to friends while playing. Establish times for you and your online buddies to log on everyday and talk to them. This is what will keep you going in the long run.

Throughout ED, this is the method I have used to have fun. During wars, the goal was to achieve a certain rank, and etc. Whenever I find myself bored on ED it is because I logged on without reason and don't have anything to work toward. So establish something you wish to do and do it. Playing epicduel for 6 hours at once to do so is not the way. Then you will achieve your goal to fast and will not have something to look forward to the next day.

Remember, Epic Duel is a passive game that doesnt require to much thinking. Do stuff while playing it.

I may add onto this as I see fit. I hope I've explained some ways that can make Epic Duel an ejoyable and positive experience for you all.

TO answer your question, I do have fun playing epicduel when I establish purpose.

    Happy PvP'ing!

Power hour was awesome farming NPCs until it turned near useless since they do not count as wins and only credits which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view. BUT as a small varium user, I would rather enjoy wins>credits since varium provides the shortcut for credits.

Still I guess, NPCs are useful for non varium players but personally as a lv35, I do not find an incentive to use power hours over regular hours anymore through using NPCs since by the end of the hour, it feels like I've gotten no where with wins or achievements.

AQisFuN -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 19:29:49)

This game needs more cores, equipment and achievements. There are only rare armors that look good, but making more of them is good, but really we need MORE.
We need more options on promo items. Not only on the 10,000 Varium package, but like before, even the $10 Varium package. It could be a cool bike or armor.
This game also requires luck to be on your side. Or most likely, you will lose. I also hate how we barely get an opportunity to earn credits. It takes a hell lot of duels even for 10,000 credits. There are also barely any missions that reward a decent amount of credits.
PvP drops have stopped and I think that's terrible. There's nothing wrong in making a little bit more money from duel sometimes.

I feel like EpicDuel should do something like AQ or AQWorlds. For players to have a chance to win some rares.

Balance is also one thing. They need to work on that. But there will always be an imbalance, so it is very hard to make the game fully balanced.

EpicDuel needs to have more content, for an incentive for people to play the game. They need to get this war moving and finish it off.

Midnightsoul -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 20:29:20)

The more balanced, the more fun.

I don't feel there's a good balance right now so I'm taking a break until i see a Patch Note about balance changes.

Reki -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 21:03:43)

I agree with midnightsoul aside from the taking a break part, I don't play much as it is already.lol
There is a terrible luck factor floating around the game and balance has gone out the window for now which makes it hard to enjoy...not to mention the lack of build diversity.

But that all being said I still do find some enjoyment in the game since I find myself still playing from time to time

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/2/2013 21:12:29)

This game is too restrictive, and taking out the fun. My reasons as followed:

    - I actually liked luck ALOT. These were like salt and pepper that make the game taste good. But now there's so much luck, the game is starting to taste TOO salty. I'm having matches where luck occurs every turn, and that's not even funny anymore.

    - Half the skills in the game have extremely bad synergy, therefore limiting our builds!

    - I know that energy drainers keep balance and that there are ways to get around them, but what fun are matches that you need to rely solely on passives since you and your opponent's energy is gone? Seriously, these need to be toned down a it.

    - Skills that scale with dex/tech seem to scale faster at first than skills that scale with Str/Supp.

AQisFuN -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/3/2013 3:29:17)

I'm also looking for a secure trading system. I hope EpicDuel doesn't die soon because I love this game.

Dreiko Shadrack -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/4/2013 22:23:13)

Here's a followup if you aren't having fun playing ED, why are you here?

Mother1 -> RE: Is Epic Duel fun to you? (9/4/2013 23:14:54)

    @ Dreiko

Most people stay for the following reasons.

1 they hope their prayers get answered and the staff does something to bring back the fun
2 Some invested in the game and aren't going to let go of that so easily
3 Some even though they aren't having a lot of fun can still have some fun.

    @ Reki

I said it before and I will say it again

to the masses it is the following

    Winning > build diversity.

The masses don't care about build diversity because they are mostly focused on winning. If that means using an overused build that will give a decent win ratio they will choose that over trying to be creative and losing. It is why we see the same builds running around in 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2. Until the winning > Build diversity thing leaves then expect to see this no matter what balance changes comes.
