This took a while, but I have to say that I'm really happy with it. Here's the bio for my character, Abigail: Name: Abigail (“Abby”) Lovel Gender: Female Age Range: 15-16 Race (Pure or half-breed only): Human Personality: Abigail had always been good at playing a part; placing a mask over her face whenever it suited her to. For years, she manipulated and connived to get her way, smugly smiling to herself whenever she succeeded. Abby was a clever girl, gifted with a silver tongue and a mind far smarter than what most children her age could wish for. In the end, maybe she was too smart for her own good. After the accident, mood swings became a regular part of Abby’s life as she grew less and less able to separate what was fantasy from what was reality. She could be kind and sweet one moment, biting and sarcastic the next, and then sullen and withdrawn the one following that. The only constants for her in this messed up world is her faith, which she will defend to the death, and her commitment to a “greater good”, whatever that truly means to her. Appearance (Build, hair, skin, clothes...): Whatever may have happened in her past, Abigail for the most part appears to be a slim, pretty girl. She stands at right around 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing a healthy (if a bit light) 116 lbs. Abby’s long blond hair is often tied into a braid that comes to rest against her back; it is part of her routine to make sure that she does so every morning. Her eyes are a shimmering hazel that complements her round face beautifully, her adorable dimples serving to make her smile absolutely dazzling. While in the past she was known to wear only the finest and most fashionable clothing in the city, Abby has since come to adopt a more modest style of dress. She usually tends to wear a simple, baggy cloth shirt and tan pants, both of these articles of clothing hidden beneath her faded blue travelling cloak. A worn pair of moccasins completes her rather basic ensemble, the shoes still holding up surprisingly well even after years of use. Belongings: Beyond her own clothing, Abigail’s possessions can be narrowed down to three other categories: her pack, her staff, and her holy symbol. Her pack, which is slung over her left shoulder, contains supplies such as a bedroll, a water skin, an extra blanket, and some rope. The general supplies that one would expect a traveler to keep on their person. Her staff is reminiscent of a shepard’s rod (in actuality it very well might have been) with a crook at the end of the wooden cylinder. Abby stores the weapon on her back, the girl capable of easily whipping it out should she get into any trouble. Last, but certainly not least, is the holy symbol around her neck – that of the great god "He Who Cleanses". Her symbol hangs from a fine metal necklace, a simple steel disc with two scorch marks curling inward from its top and bottom. History: Abigail was born to a noble household, the young girl growing up in all of the comfort that she could possibly ask for. Her life was sheltered, certainly, but she received what most would consider as a very good upbringing, as well as an exceptional education. Abby learned early on that she loved to read, and spent much of her time in the library, reading anything from fairy tales to books on the mysterious subject known as “science”. However, Abby’s favorite subject to read about was religion; the gods, in particular a being known as "He Who Cleanses", fascinated her, and their creeds quickly became her favorite bedtime reading material. Yet as she grew older, the negative effects of being spoiled began to take hold. Abby started to manipulate first her servants, and eventually her parents into getting her whatever she wanted. She would put on any face, commit to any act that would allow her to get her way; some of her creativity could perhaps be owed to the books that she loved to read so much. While in the beginning, this was a minor expense on the funds of her very wealthy family, as time passed and she wanted more and more things that would doubtless cost more and more money, a problem began to arise. The year Abigail turned fourteen, her father decided that something needed to be done about the problem; it simply could not go any further if their family was to survive. Abby never saw it coming – not until she felt the hand impact with her back and spun around, forced to look on helplessly as she tumbled down the stairs. Following this “accident”, Abigail lost control of the various personas that she’d created to trick people, the personalities instead becoming a part of who she was. This led to the development of her chronic mood swings, which over the years have changed rapid fire changes in demeanor to more long term shifts that happen every so often (though still fairly frequently). Her trust in her family broken, Abigail slipped out of her house as soon as she felt well enough to travel. Then, she ran away. Far, far away. This brings us to the current time: Abigail has been on the road for about a year now, having acquired some basic traveling ability and know-how, and also committed herself to the service of“He Who Cleanses”, seeing the god as the only person who had truly stood by her. Her travels have brought her to South, and in particular to Swordhaven, where she hopes that she’ll be able to find a “place” of some kind for herself. Skills, spells and abilities (if applicable): As she’s only been on the road for a year, and likely possessed her staff for a bit less than that, Abigail’s skill with the weapon could be called passable at best. However, in a pinch, she can certainly wield the thing and do what she needs to. Luckily, she’s not limited to the staff alone. Abby is a fair bit more advanced in her skill as a cleric (though in most circles she’d still be considered an initiate/novice). What she can do ranges from tricks like creating a ring of small (mostly harmless) fireballs, to cauterizing wounds, to setting the crook of her staff on fire (without burning it to a crisp). As the adventure progresses, this is most likely where she’ll end up seeing the most improvement, gaining access to more and more powerful and varied divine magic as her connection with "He Who Cleanses" grows even stronger. Lastly, it should be of note that Abigail has a talent for reading, both in the Common script of the land and several more esoteric languages, so she might be able to have a use should research be required as well.
