Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 19:02:57)

Arcade serves its purpose - to win an item or Credits. It's not a farming spot because too much and there's something called inflation, and no one would want higher prices. Greedy? You can get free Tokens if you put in some effort. Want to use Varium? Your choice and you know what you're getting.

It's only initial release too. More items will be added, rares included. In the future, when they release more cores, they will be there too. Besides, you're not forced to spend Varium on it. Arcade serves its purpose, it's not a farming spot. You may get lucky and get an item (base) for less amount of Varium than you would otherwise, but you may overpay at the same time, or even get it for free with Daily Missions.

You win an item or Credits (jackpot). It's not a new farming spot. If Credits were easy to come by from Arcade, it'd cause inflation - and that, would affect everyone, whether you use Arcade or not. And lastly, you aren't forced to even use Arcade. It's just a final reward from Daily Missions and you can get a weapon for pretty much free, and it may come useful someday - instead of having to buy a new one.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 19:08:44)

Easy solution: Weapons only cost 100 credits to upgrade each level. Weapons sell for 0 credits.

orly -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 19:48:38)

I don't think you have to worry about inflation of credits since with having to upgrade everything every level or 2 everyone stays broke now on new characters. And those items I got sell for like 14000 to 15000 credits or 700 + varium so getting a resale value of 20 credits is yes greedy. I don't mind spending a little money here from time to time but I also expect good value for my cash.

AQisFuN -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 20:49:49)

So if we spend 10,000 Varium, in return we get 2000 credits in return. Hmm...not bad. I'm not spending a single bit of Varium for this Arcade. Just to let you guys know.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 22:15:50)

I miss pvp drops xD

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 22:28:19)

In AQW, I spent 200 ACs to get a fancy item that does completely nothing but look pretty. Players don't mind that because it has rarity attached to it. Sellback, I do not know but I doubt Gold is hard to come by in AQW, nor it has as many crucial uses.

Yes, you should worry about inflation. If you make Credits easy to come by, Varium is not a shortcut and Credits will make Varium useless, unless it comes to Varium luxuries that don't affect PvP, which makes it quite bad for the game overall. Credit prices would go up to compensate for it, and no, your PvP rewards would remain the same and you'd blame Arcade for it - even though not everyone would use it, and that means some players would end up being screwed by the inflation.

I don't see how it's greedy though. You know what you're paying for and we were made aware that sellbacks will be low, prior to the release. Everything was told, you've agreed to it. Those items that sell for thousands, you've bought them for double the price. In case of Arcade, you may've gotten the item completely free (Daily Mission), thus saving you quite an amount. If you use Varium, well, it is a shortcut for a reason. The purpose of Varium is shortcut, and we were also told that before Omega went live.

You've paid for a shortcut and you knew what you will get (not literally). It's not a farming spot because that causes inflation. It wouldn't? Credit prices went up for this very reason with Omega's release. Varium was to be a shortcut and Credits to not be easily available. You pay or play.

Lastly, you also knew you're paying for art (unless the item has a core). You knew you may not get an item in Silver or Gold category. There is nothing greedy about it. You've had all the information handed to you in the DNs, and you've agreed to them.

Wrong. The purpose of Arcade is NOT a farming spot. It's a place where you win rewards, not an additional Credit source. The old Arcade costed 5 Battle Tokens, you've had a PvP fight to win (and could lose it), the reward was not guaranteed (and you could've ended up with nothing), and you've received mostly small amount of Credits. Now, you do Daily Missions (free) or pay your way through, and get a random item from the pool. Old Arcade had higher sellback on items, but back then, we've had enhancements that had very steep Credit price, F2P and P2P items, and P2P weapons required Varium to buy, as well as Credits. Inflation was not an issue back then.

If you want Credits, do NPCs or PvP fights. If you hate farming, buy Varium. You have a choice. Arcade is not a farming spot and you win rewards from it. It's an easy concept to grasp. You aren't forced to rely on Arcade to compete. What isn't beneficial for you, may be beneficial for others.

odsey -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/28/2013 22:58:14)

@Trans Not to mention you could get a item at a cheaper price. Yes, the sellback is low but like Trans said, this is not a farming spot. Credit inflation can come arcade become a farming spot.

Let me tell you my experience with Aqw Doom Wheel System(Sorta like ED arcade and Aq giftboxes but a bit worse)

You pay 250 Ac to get a exp boost and a one use item. You get a chance to get a item. You got a chance to get any rare item for 0.1% or a rare item that has been decided for 1%. Not to mention that the items are mostly cosmetics.

Aq system is almost the same except you get something everytime with a chance to get a item.

ED system may be the better since you get a item everytime that may be useful to ypu even though the item need to be upgraded. They may also add cores and other item.

Just got a generator core:D

Why don t you show the token s price? Devs, this isn t a good behavior, what gets sold for real money needs particular transparency, are you even allowed to do this?

I believe when purchasing tokens it says 1 costs 125 varium, and 10 cost 1000 varium.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 6:32:14)

Yep, it's 125 Varium for 1 Token or 10 Tokens for 1,000 Varium. Just press on the Token button in the Arcade and it'll come up with a pop-up with the price. In fact, it's cheaper than in AQW and AQ (latter having in-game drops which have caused massive inflation on Z-Token item prices). Both of them have 250 ACs/Tokens for one Ticket/GGB or 10 for 2,000 ACs/Tokens. ED has half the price. *although, I'm not aware how many ACs you can get for $50, but in AQ you will get 20K Z-Tokens for $50*

Missed it yesterday. This could be a good solution. Weapon sells for nothing/20 Credits, but if you upgrade it (100 Credits per level), you can sell it for 1,800 Credits. It could be seen as too easy, but if you were to switch to a different weapon and sell the Arcade one (upgraded), you'd get a very small amount of Credits, thus be forced to farm at some point (a lot!).
Or do a partial upgrade. Bronze upgraded until Level 10, Silver until Level 20, and Gold until Level 30. Bronze is most common thus poor upgrade, Gold is the rarest thus highest upgrade. If there will ever be Platinum, it could even be upgraded to Level 40. We're playing with luck here (gambling) and - on average - you'd need to spend a lot of Varium/time to get the Platinum drop.

BadWitch -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 6:48:21)

I really don't think that is fair to spend 125 varium on something that is worth 20 credits...So i strongly suggest that you don't spend your varium on it...You will be strongly disappointed...

Calogero -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 6:57:32)

Looks like they found a way to make Varium usefull...
Still not worth buying and spending on this but meh

I was 5% excited that the arcade came back but then I looked at it and saw it as a casino or whatever...
My 2 cents given

Scyze -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 7:14:11)

Why are you talking about the items that you get being useless? If you want to make Credits, then don't use the Arcade. You're supposed to win something and use them, not sell them and get disappointed!
You don't have to use Varium; just go do the Daily Missions. If you think the Arcade is useless, then don't ever use it.

Thylek Shran -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 12:53:58)

I enjoy Arcade because of the surprise factor. The sellback prices for bronze items
are low with 20 credits. But its nice that players can get new items cheap now and
some of them look pretty nice.

toopygoo -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 15:14:46)

i have an alt, on which made a mistake of switching to a physical weapon, and it lowered my win/loss rate. yesterday, i won a a great looking energy sword, saving me about 5K credits. so i am one to prove that a lot of you are in the wrong mindset about this thing. its not a farming spot. its a treasure filled with heirlooms. no one really cares about your heirlooms but yourself. the weapons are made to allow you to look cool. that is all they are for. that is all any weapon in ED is for now, except azraels, and that semi-new aux.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 15:18:56)

I've made another character and managed to get an Energy Gun out of it, also saves me Credits and ones from the missions, I can re-sell for Credits which means I've gained quite an amount of Credits by doing a Daily Mission. *although, I could do with better looking weapon but there's always another day :P*

toopygoo -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 15:25:35)

perfect, i think this is how the arcade should be approached as a way to gift older players, or help newer ones :)

Wootz -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 17:11:36)

I really do like the update, but the mission requirment is a bit too heavy for a single Arcade Token.

martinsen5 -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 17:25:33)

@Wootz, Lol, yeah. Beating the Exile Leader in exchange for an Arcade Token is a bit too much for me to handle. I managed to beat the bosses and get the achievements like a couple times with pure luck and a lot of searching for the right partner. Doing that daily isn't exactly something I'm gonna consider.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 17:27:16)

I do agree, when it comes to Bosses for the last mission, it is quite... bad. I can do it with a good partner but it's a bit too much. I don't mind the other ones, albeit the Challenge one is dull.

ReinVI -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 19:38:45)

wonder if anybody was dumb enough to buy a 12k varium pack to splurge on arcade and try and get a bunch of stuff? :P

toopygoo -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 20:59:13)

uh... no comment ReinVI [:'(]
JK :P

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/29/2013 22:40:11)

luckily for me i dont have variums to spend on the arcade:-).
Talking about luck, i won a dragon battlegear on my first try to the arcade using my only token which i won on the mission. It was great, it was fun, imagine getting a mutating weapon for free which used to cost varium before?? btw, on my second try, i received soul reaper which i cannot even equip since its a claw and im a bloodmage :-). Overall, its fun. Im thinking of saving every single token i would receive for daily missions. more items will be offered soon.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/30/2013 11:37:44)

I personally think they should remove the boss fight mission for the arcade token. If you are a non varium trying to play the arcade or a varium player who doesn't have varium every time this mission shows up it is like a slap in the face. Especially if you are a low level player since it will be impossible for you to beat the bosses.

Predator9657 -> RE: =ED= September 27, 2013 - Arcade Inbound (9/30/2013 16:04:13)

^ I completely agree. They should replace it with a more feasible mission (for all levels).
