Ranloth -> Energy draining cores (11/3/2013 10:50:42)

To begin with, I am not saying these cores are under nor overpowered, but they could work a bit differently to ensure they are efficient at any level, especially now with Energy cost.

  • Frost Shards / FrostBite
    • 3 turns of Energy DoT
    • 10% of opponent's total Energy per turn
    • Decimals rounded to the nearest whole number
    • Damage remains the same

With scaled Energy, it will always drain minimum of 15 Energy, but gets stronger as the total Energy goes up (scaled with level) and if your opponent has trained it.

  • Energy Shot
    • Targets opponent's Energy only, without dealing any damage
    • 50% of Gun's damage only
    • Decimals rounded to the nearest whole number

It deals no damage, and in the long run, it should be minimally stronger than Frost cores - not only in terms of EP cost - so it uses Gun's damage. This allows everyone to take advantage of the core, not only builds investing in Strength. With +35 Gun, it would drain -18 Energy.

  • Energy Storm
    • Targets opponent's Energy only, without dealing any damage
    • 50% of Primary's damage only
    • Decimals rounded to the nearest whole number
    • Lower the Energy cost by -2 Energy - to match Energy Shot if one enemy (7 EP) - and 10 if used on two.

This is the same as above. It has higher cost if used on two opponents at once, which balances it out neatly.

That's about it. Currently, Energy draining cores may seem inefficient due to the Energy cost but instead of making them cheaper, we can make them more effective and more viable counter to other players.

Energy shot with a str build.

Energy storm with a str build.

Gun's damage. It doesn't scale with total Gun damage (which includes Strength). So if your Gun is +20, it will drain -10 Energy. If it's +30 then it'll drain -15 Energy.

    That's why I didn't say total Gun damage. :p

Ah okay then. Then I support this.

Seems interesting, buffing the energy drained cores, and giving out some few requirements on energy costs. I think what makes this balance is the withdraw of the total damage, not taken into account of the energy drained. Alas, I think this would be a nice improvement to those cores.
