Interesting and intriguing art gallery. I noticed you still lack some important elements in your designs so I will try to be as clear as possible. Process of a drawing: This consists of three vital elements: Insertion Framing Composition Currently, I have noticed some of your designs don't lack the insertion element but in others, the concept tends to be seen incomplete( as in cropped). Try sketching most of the design to make it fit in the page or try buying a 9 in x 12 in(or bigger) sketch book so that your designs are able to be drawn completely in the whole page. About framing, while it isn't necessary, it helps when you have some design that needs to be assymnetric. With this type of element, you can easily play with the assymmetry in your page. Some example of how you can play with assymmetry. Clicky If you notice on the reference image, the tree on the center (C) looks well drawn but it gives a non-amazed feel, while the tree on the left side is the same as the C image, but it is positioned in another location of the page. You can recognize it gives a nicer feeling that when looking to the C image, not because it is facing towards to one of the two sides, but because we humans tend to have a symmetry complex when drawing certain things so we aren't used to assymetric designs. Other element I could point out is the focal point. If you work out the focal point to have enough force to attract the viewers' attention, you can guide the viewer's sight throughout your drawing to make them look at the focal point and then, at the rest of the drawing. Some example: Clicky The artist of this paint used his skills to make the viewer look at what he want them to see. The first detail you notice is the bright and lively lights on the posts. Now, while watching the lights, you are guided to slowly reach the couple, which ends up being the focal point of the drawing. Then you feel intrigued about the surroundings of the focal point and explore with your sight the rest of the drawing. The composition is the art of combining different elements in a drawing. About composition, one of the main problems I have noticed is the incosistency of the parts you normally draw. I can identify the theme of your designs, but they are inconsistencies on the designs. e.g. quote:
A design has a set theme of cannivalism. In the upper part, it has several fur skulls ornaments but on the legs it has wood like parts. The shading is really nice in some of the drawings but the use of pen(It looks like pen, if not, my bad) to shade is something I don't recommend. I had suggest you to buy some bland/rough pencils and some blending pencils to improve the texture and the shading of your designs. If you use shading pencils, he design's shading tends to give a 3D feeling to it when you use the correct tones and apply contrasts on your drawings. Overall, nice work. Keep practicing and try to keep improving every aspect of your drawings, be it the textures, perspective, anatomy, consistency, contour lines, proportion, etc. Some useful links that could help you improve: Figure & Gesture Drawing Figures Colors Matter Adobe Kuler Hello Imgur Patterns Have fun improving!
