Nah, I don't hate the Dracelix piece at all. I mean, I actually really like how it came out... except for two things: that horrible, half-a**ed ocean, and the fact that his design doesn't match his Book 3 appearance. (It's not a bad thing per se, but it does make it outdated...)
Ah, nice tutorial! [:)] It might be better that the "method" I used, which it doesn't even let you see the actual colours. (I know I'm not so good at colouring, and I should practice more, but well....) I might try it with the Celestia & Artix sketch once I have the time. You know, when I don't need to study for exams. *innocently whistles* And after I'm finished with Seppy, Drakath, and a request from someone in dA.
EDIT (lol): Discovered the "luminance to transparency" option in SAI and changed Emrys' skin color, and now she looks kinda acceptable. haha
