Lycus -> RE: Suicide Core (12/24/2013 6:54:26)

I'm locking this up since it is a topic that has been hit many times in multiple forms before and is not something we are willing to venture down. In the past we did have a button that allowed people to 'flee' from battle, however this simply causes very large issues. It's great saying 'sometimes it is a waste of time being in a battle you know you are going to lose.' however if you leave, in a 1v1 it is not as much of a problem, but it destroys the purpose of the game; in 2v2 it leaves your partner with little to no chance. This is only part of the problem it begins to lead to and simply put, there is a reason the 'flee' button was removed, and it certainly just encouraged people to be selfish and act unsportsmanlike. Not only this but a core/ability that hints at or encourages suicide in anyway is certainly not appearing in-game. Though to you it may seem a simple subject or a trivial one in this context, to others it means a lot more, suicide is not something we want to be an active thing we allow or encourage in the game since to many it is a very fragile and sensitive subject. Now there will be the point that 'it can just be named or done differently' to that I will say, the above statement about encouraging people to be unsportsmanlike etc. still stands. The suggestion that it buffs your partner is fine, but then you destroy the point of a 2v2 battle and make it a juggernaut battle. Overall, leaving battles is not something we want to encourage, if you are going to lose, simply allow the other person to achieve the win fairly. At the end of the day, if you leave the battle you pay the price of having to re-login etc, guaranteeing your loss and likely using just the same amount of time anyway without any chance of actually winning somehow anyway. We do not want to actively encourage this and therefore will not be adding this into the game, as was shown with the fact we removed the previous implementation that was similar to this.
