NDB -> Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:31:20)

Recently I had a match with a fellow TM that lasted over 140 rounds until I decided to just give up and do something crazy... and lost. Anyway, the point being is that neither of us could kill the other, no matter what--my opponents defenses were to high for me to kill him in him before he would Battery Backup and Loop Heal, and he was too weak to kill me in time before I used Batter Backup and Loop Healed. It is an endless cycle, and it clearly shows how broken these skills are. Something needs to be done about the way Battery Backup works; in theory, as long as you do not die and keep using this skill, you are immortal. This also applies to TLM, although in a battle between a TM and a TLM, the TM will eventually win because of Assimilation loop. This is not the case when two weak TMs or two weak TLMs fight. Hatchling Rush may or may not solve the issue, depending on case. If both players are just that weak (averaging, say 100 damage per turn), then the affected player will still heal, and still live to use it again. This is actually what happened in my duel, where I used Hatchling Rush and still could not defeat my opponent before he was able to heal again. It results in a complete deadlock that will never end until eventually, one player crits enough times in a row (theoretically, no matter how low the chances of critting, say, 4 times in a row is, if the game lasts forever, probability will strike and it will happen). Even then, it may not end the battle.

With all that being said, any suggestion on fixes to Battery Backup or Field Medic will be helpful.

lol

I have been in this dead lock before, and to be honest it all started when they change reroute for battery backup.

However an idea for battery back up would be this. Instead of it generating all the energy back at once, make it work like energy parasite. Meaning it gives you back a small amount of energy (depending on the level you have it) for 3 turns.

NDB -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:46:49)

I don't know how common these Deadlocks occur, but it is definitely not funny when you end up in one. Mine took nearly and hour, and would have gone on forever had I not gave up and tried Concussive Strike.the problem is out of your control. You shouldn't be forced to have to admit defeat to end it. I am guessing the most common situation in which theses happen are battles between caster mages or tlms that only get defenses. IN my case, however, I was using focus and my opponent was a caster. So, it cold really happen to anyone, not just someone who's extremely weak.

@mother1 Yes, that may solve the problem, but it would also be a nerf for TLMs which aren't doing so great right now...

GearzHeadz -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:52:14)

You mean apply to yourself and it works like the opposite of frost shards? Yeah. That could work.

Mother1 -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:52:58)

@ NDB

Well you can also thank the staff for encouraging tanking as well. I remember sometime back they wanted matches to be longer so they nerfed offensive power while buffing defense. So unless you are really spamming strength you won't get much damage against a caster tank.

The moment the removed reroute and placed in battery backup was the moment casters got a major buff. Before with reroute you could control their energy which helped to keep caster TM in balance but with this new battery back up you lost that control. Combine that with assimilation and caster TM got supercharged which any other TM build (unless offense able) got nerfed.

NDB -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:57:13)

Giving it an extra turn of cooldown could work too (maybe not always), but then you would have to add an extra turn of cooldown to all of the energy drains too, to even things out.

Mother1 -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/25/2013 23:58:38)

@ NDB

For TLM leave it the same as it is now, and give the new skill a name change. This way TM will get a new skill without hurt TLM.

GearzHeadz -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 0:13:54)

I don't think that'd hurt TLM.

kittycat -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 3:36:55)

After reading this, I think Battery Backup for TMs should become Battery Installment, where the EP cannot be drained or used for one round. At the second round after battery installment had been initiated, the energy can be used or drained.

Remorse -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 5:09:43)

If battery backup and assimilation both had a cost this would not be an issue.

EG. my stamina cost idea: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=21537904

This is because further on into the battle after the first few uses of the energy regian/drain skills they will become very constricted on stamina and therefore following batteries may be further stalled due to the fact they need to gain stamina at 5 per turn and therefore looping will become extremely hard because looping infinity energy will become slower and harder as the game progresses.

Their is actually few current balance issues now that can't be helped by the introduction of a new costing system, I hope the devs consider it.

Scyze -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 6:44:59)

Haha, I thought that round 37 was the highest I've seen but it's now 140. The thing is, that sort of thing kind of happens if you are using same builds together unless it's not heal looping. I had battles in Delta which lasted over 30 rounds but the Infernal Android finished the job!

I've suggested that Battey Backup should have HP being used, just like how it is for Blood Shield. However, I don't think it will be much helpful against builds where players have over 1000 HP.
Just out of curiosity, did you copy the build you're currently using? Most players have copied the build because it is very hard to beat.

Steel Slayer -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 9:15:35)

Battery isn't the problem here, assimilation is. Remove gain from assimilation, fixes problem.

@Scyze hard to beat? I beat these guys all the time, you just have to time your drains right. Although I must admit, I learned how to time the drains right by trying the caster tank build.

Scyze -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 9:20:33)

You are a Bounty Hunter, I am a Mercenary. There's a difference in the Class and if you become a Mercenary, you'll find out why it's hard to beat them. Timing is the key to beating them, but I've done as much as I can by timing things. Their Battery Backup gives them more Energy than what I drain = they can heal.

Hybrid Armor isn't very helpful against them. They will just deal Energy damage because they'll be using Malfunction and I cannot just use 230 Energy every time to just get +123 on Defense and Resistance.

Steel Slayer -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 9:34:15)

I'm not merc on Steel right now, but I have been, actually he started as a merc :) But I still have my merc alt, Buster Brown, level 33, never had varium, and believe it or not, has a better win record than my varium character. Hes strong enough I've been thinking about switching Steel back to merc, main reason I haven't is I don't have a decent club, saving credits for one now, trust me, mercs are still good, I'll take on a mage any day. But we may have such differing perspectives because you seem to do more 1v1, while I mostly 2v2.

Mother1 -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 10:06:50)

@ Steel slayer

If they do that then what to replace it with? I hear that suggestion a lot of times, however no one ever suggests something to replace it with.

Steel Slayer -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 10:11:04)

Don't replace it with anything, have assim just do damage and drain.

Welcome to over 35 lvl to yours merc. It is pretty nigthmare now.

Stabilis -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 11:45:28)

The real knife in the back was that you only got 32 credits and 12 XP from that fight.

Lol, exactly the same happened to me. The battle went on to 212 rounds, and I gave up because it was almost power hour.

NDB -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 19:01:12)

^Gosh... well I guess that's the new record.

Teserve -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/26/2013 21:17:51)

@Predator9657 and NBD
How long did your battles take? O.o

@Predator9657
Wow...

Pemberton -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/27/2013 1:05:48)

just shows that the game is broken.

Steel Slayer -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/27/2013 9:28:52)

1 build is a super tank, can last all day AGAINST ANOTHER OF THE SAME BUILD and the whole game is broken?

Predator9657 -> RE: Tech Mage Deadlock Battles (12/27/2013 12:34:47)

@Teserve, I started ~2 hours before Power hour :/
