Ranloth -> Revamping NPCs (1/1/2014 8:36:50)

Gonna try to keep it short but detailed, to get the point across. Typical anecdote, suggestion and reasoning, type of thing. Before Omega, we could abuse something under the name of NPCs. 5 fights per hour, per NPC, and up to 15 fights per hour - even more if you've had Varium and used it for brainwashing. In essence, it was free wins that added to your PvP record, and you could end up with a perfect record - or at least near perfect. With the release of Omega, this was changed. No more Exp is being given out, unless below Level 10, and NPCs only give you Credits - up to 100 wins per day. Furthermore, these fights do not count towards your PvP record, which was the right decision to make, in this instance. Of course, some players didn't like it due to their perfect records being ruined and being forced to PvP - in order to level up - and even quitting! Although, they should've seen it coming because ED is PvP game, not PvE - so adding wins to PvP record was... stupid. Anyway, onto the suggestion part. NPC record: It would be placed just under Juggernaut wins. You could fight NPCs, for all you want, and get it recorded there. Of course, this includes the amount of times you have lost - not just wins - so let's not hope to get 100% ratio for NPCs, because you may get disappointed. - The change is ex post facto, in other words, retroactive. Your past wins vs. NPCs don't count, since you've had them put into PvP and the ones on current system wouldn't be counted either. Everyone would start with a clean record.
- Example of NPC record: [1] [2] [3] (credits to Scyze) - evolving cheevo could be next to the NPC record too!
Return of Exp: Yes, you could get Exp off your beloved NPCs! But don't get so far ahead, because that amount would be 33% of the original. - ED is still a PvP-aimed game, so fighting NPCs for easy level up wouldn't happen. You could do it, but it'd take thrice as long as normal PvP.
- And of course, 100 NPC fights cap remains. Why not wins anymore? You could keep losing, at cost of your record, and still be rewarded for it. After all, your PvP record would be untouched.
Raising the difficulty bar: We're not gonna have easy NPC farming, vs. NPCs whom are five levels below yours. NPC range would get lowered to Your Level -3 or even -2, assuming there are enough NPCs in each level range. - You get awarded for it, and getting easy wins won't be the case. A little bit of challenge won't kill you, now that you may get some Experience. If you don't like it, go back to PvP instead.
Record removal: Who wouldn't want to hide the fact they NPC, in order to level up? Some people would love it! Why not reset it back to 0?! - This would only work on NPC wins, and your count would be resetted to 0 W/L. Of course, this is only aesthetic change - on your character page - whilst the real amount would still remain in the database.
- Of course, this would be a Varium feature - since it doesn't affect anyone's overall gameplay, directly. I'm thinking about a steep cost, such as 2,000 Varium.
No boosting: As it stands, Power Hour affects the Credits gain from NPC fights. I am pretty sure the Credit/Exp Boosters do too. Well, no more, for the Credit/Exp Boosters. - Your beloved Power Hour would still work on NPCs, for both, Exp and Credits, but these boosters would only work on PvP from now on. Some players would still abuse NPCs, despite the lower Exp gain.
Achievements as incentive: (thanks to Depressed Void) Since PvP has ranks (Hero, Emperor, Commander, etc.), there should be an incentive for NPCs too - not just some Exp. - An evolving cheevo, working on the same basis as the Dread War Influence cheevos.
- Low amount of Rating Points, but still something.
Should be detailed enough.
