So here is what i am thinking. since people complain a lot that parasite doest work well enough i think a few tweaks could make it cater a lot more to the players needs. Since it returns a % of their energy, it can be unreliable, if opponent spends their energy while you wait for the return. What i propse is that it not only leaches them but return a % of the energy they spend: thus you get a benefit for thm trying to waste it. if the skill is this weak, then it doesnt necessarily need a counter: you can cast it at 0 energy, and not make enough to cast your lowest cost, lowest level ability. It does render the class useless in the sense that in 2v2, they are reliant on their partner for energy, and on pure strength for 1v1.. a class should not be reliant on others in my opinion. If you make it regain energy at a much slower rate than mercs or bounty hunters, then i feel it should at least return more to you than those other free skills do. Additionally, the % returned could be raised a little, by level. at level 40, i think have a base % return of 20 would be fine, as the class itself does improve more with level than just stats (as also visible in energy cannon versus mercs bunker buster.) perhaps increasing the base percentage return of the skill, at every 8 levels, thus you have the last increment when reaching level 40. additional credits to Envasion for ideas.
