SummerTime -> What kind of game do you want ED to be? (2/5/2014 20:39:50)

(this does not have anything to do with balance or the devs of this game, so don't bring either of them up)

Would you prefer a game where players just messed with stats and tried to be as creative as possible, while having a blast with friends and the ED community in general? Or would you prefer the way this game is now, meaning nearly everyone using 1-2 builds with each class, competitive and not

really that fun pvp, with a community that is bitter and not exactly fun to be around because of their competitive mindsets? I personally would choose game #1 simply because a game is played for fun and amusement, IMO. From my experience with the players in ED, players take this game way

too seriously, they see no problem with the lack of fun they're having or the creativeness of their builds. As long as they win they don't seem to care.

Maybe the competitive aspect of dueling should be erased from epic duel, leaving only the creativeness of players to keep this game strong.(Just an Idea)

Do you forumites feel the same way? Do you agree with my statement or the opposite? Or do you prefer something different than the two I posted above?

Problem I see with removing the competitive part of the game is that this game is a PVP game not a PVE game. since the game revolves around player vs player it is almost impossible to remove the competitive part of the game out.

Plus since you can't remove that part of the game out that means you can't remove the desire to win out either.

Plus as I see it, as long as the game is PVP and competitive once someone finds a winning build it will get copied, and eventually become overused. Heck even if the game became as close to balanced as it could be I doubt build copying would stop.

Why because of the desire to win without too much trouble. As long as this exists players will nine times out of ten copy a build they know gets a good win rate rather than be creative and find their own at the expense of losing.

But to answer your question the type of game I want is a close to balance game without the needs of complexes.

Right now I wouldn't call anything competitive if you win competitive by switching to the classes with the highest win rates. Normally people switch to the class with the best win rate and win speed (doesn't necessarily mean that both are the best compared to the other 5 classes, just means it's the best balance between the 2), but it's kind of obvious right now that a couple classes are easily overshadowed in win rate.
