hi all
i was just wondering if all classes are equally well of with class specific weapon or sword and i was surprised to find out number of class specific skills having a weapon requirement

BH- cheap shot, massacre & poison - requirement wrist blades
CH- cheap shot, massacre & poison - requirement wrist blades
TM - plasma bolt,overload, assimilation & supercharge - requirement staff.
BM - overload, supercharge & may be one more skill - requirement staff.
Merc- maul, static smash - requirement club.
TLM- static smash - requirement club.

obviously it puts all classes at disadvantage as compared to merc and TLM when choosing between sword / class specific weapon.

i think all will agree this balance issue should be looked into and corrected asap.

P:S - why do people swear so much now a days in ED.

Making TMs have less Skills requiring Staffs is like saying: A magician should use a pen, rather than a magic wand.

Scyze: Many mages are known to carry both a staff and a sword at the same time.

Actually right now

even with this TM is still at the top of the food chain and are doing just fine. The same can be said of bounty hunter as well. TLM even with only one skill having a weapon requirement isn't a widely used class right now either due to the lack of simple builds player can exploit.

i think i didnt make myself very clear.
what i'm trying to get across is if i'm being a CH or BH or TM or BM and i want to use certain skills, then i'v to use class specific weapon as i miss out on three skills in case i choose sword.
but incase i'm TLM or merc then choosing sword over class specific weapon still lets me use most of the skills barring one or two.

sword gives around 5 stat points advantage and at certain levels +10 damage advantage as well.

PS- TM being top of chain, well i'l agree they are a common class at present and assimilation along with energy regen makes it a easy class to play with quite a few builds around. But i still find mercs and TLM equally upto the mark., just that these classes are not that common yet.

This may be true, however, you're forgetting one thing. Static Smash is the Mercenary's energy-flow skill, and with the extreme importance of energy, a club is practically REQUIRED for a successful build. If one person can find ONE successful build without utilizing Static Smash, I will declare them the smartest build maker in the world. On the other hand, BH, CH, and BM can easily find successful builds without using Venom Strike, Cheap Shot, Massacre, Overload, or Supercharge. In fact, most BH/CH builds don't even use those skills, and hardly any BM builds use supercharge or overload.

i came across few tactical mercenaries and mercs
and they had sword.
they had there skill tree with all possible things. he could berzerker, double strike , bunker , even poison. none of the skills except maul /static smash needed club.

regarding mercs : no requirement for berzerker , surgical or double strike.

weapon requirement only for mercs : maul & static smash.

TLM: weapon requirement only for static smash.

but all other classes have atleast 3 skills which need class specific weapon.

and as everyone know sword vs class specific weapon gives an advantage of 10 damage and 5 stats.

so i definitely think it puts other classes at a disadv esp CH and BH who have their damage dealing skills strongly linked to wrist blades, namely poison, cheap shot , and massacre.


P:S : i'm not a hunter.

Hm, I wish I was still a Merc. I had 2 very good builds that didn't involve static smash. I even used a sword.

what i mean is difference in weapon requirement for different classes where two classes namely mercs and TLM are at an advantage wrt other classes. as these two classes hardly miss out on any skills as compared to other classes when using sword.

whether these classes are weak or not, whether they can survive or not is a different balance issue.

This build easily works with or without static charge.
