Ranloth -> Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 12:49:16)

The Bot has just been brought up in GD, and it'll be back soon too. We should all be aware of how terrible it is, when it comes to the skill, so I don't really need to justify why it needs a serious buff.

  • [Bot] Buff the duration to 5??? turns and alter the effect.
    • Longer duration makes it a bit more difficult to counter, if timed properly.
      • Had it affected all Melee attacks, 3 turns would be fine, but it doesn't. We have cores, we have Gun + Aux, and we have skills - very easy to avoid the effect completely.
    • Change to the effect would be: you are able to Strike if under the effect + deal damage, and then you take self-damage.
      • This makes it a bit more strategical - you either Strike and hope to gain advantage (or even kill), or it may completely backfire and you'll lose out on it. Perhaps, skipping a turn in that case could've been better choice than Strike.

    At least it wouldn't suck completely, so it's something.

  • Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 16:28:21)

    While this may buff it for higher levels it will over power it for lower levels.

    I had the bot with one of my lower level alts since level 15 and at these levels for the effect it was every potent due to a lot of players either not having full gear. I have won quite a few battles I wouldn't have normally won due to the effect of this bot at the lower levels or brought it really close. Image what a longer duration of the effect would do for lower level players.

    As for the second effect no offense to it but it sound like how the baby yeti was before they made it's effect unblockable which means if this happened it would be leaving tactical decisions up to change which is something that a lot of people are already fed up with.

    Also the bunny bot as it is not even for higher levels doesn't suck. Making your opponent play out of their comfort zone and having them do things they normally wouldn't do to avoid the attack is very tactical and useful.

    Example: Someone uses a debuff (Smoke for example) and they have a phyiscal primary but energy weapons. Players uses bunny bot's special. Boom that person even though they case smoke can't make use of that debuff offensively for more power due to only physical item they have triggering the special.

    If anything out of all the bots this one is the most tactical.

    s0u1ja b0y -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 17:59:01)

    Mother1 said it perfectly. It would be way OP with 5 turns at lower lvls

    Dual Thrusters -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:00:28)

    So make the duration increase with focus.

    5 focus makes it last for 5 turns etc.

    Keep in mind that players should have full gear via the newly implemented tutorial missions

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:01:07)

    Well, maybe I overshot that, so I'll leave it up for debate. How about the effect - since that one needs bigger revision?

    Dual Thrusters -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:08:10)

    I like the effect.

    If that is implemented, more players would be willing to actually trip the effect.

    Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:14:13)

    @ dual

    Even with the tutorial I still see players without full gear at the lower levels. Some being as high as level 27 with only a primary which is really sad to be honest.

    s0u1ja b0y -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:15:35)

    The effect is what makes the not. What about super tanks. They rage hit and take little damage in return. Making turns based off of focus doesn't change much of anything. You can get 3 focus at lvl 15 and it is still overpowered. Its the equivalent of a stun without costing any energy.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:17:46)

    Let's assume it's at 3 turns then. Mother1 made a good point about the Bot being strategical, and the change in effect could let it remain strategical - miss a turn, or Strike to deal some damage and self-damage on top of it.

    Or perhaps Xendran's suggestion for the duration.

    Xendran -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:18:51)

    Duration is level of player it was used on divided by 8 rounding down.

    Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:26:29)

    @ xendran

    how would it round for numbers that aren't whole? only level's 8 16 24 32 and 40 would get whole numbers where as everyone else would get a decimical. This could cause problems with the rounding if not set right for the rest.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:36:56)

    Rounded down. 1 turn for L1-15, 2 turns for L16-23, 3 turns for L24-31, 4 turns for L32-39, and 5 turns for L40. Not that difficult, just use ceiling, and set minimum to 1 turn.

    s0u1ja b0y -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:39:12)

    So basically another lvl 30 plus must have and something op for lvl 20 plus( hatchling rush)?

    Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:39:35)

    @ trans

    For 1-7 round down would make the bot's effect last 0 turns not one.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:40:28)

    quote:

    and set minimum to 1 turn

    Dual Thrusters -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:42:43)

    @soulja

    Having 3 focus at level 15 can't make you an uber tank. In fact, players can still do moderate damage to you without having to invest into strength. Don't forget, players have skills to use. So even at this level, 3 turns isn't all that great as it sounds like

    Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:46:31)

    @ dual thrusters

    I actually used the bot at these lower levels and depending on the situation 3 turns can hurt even fully equipped players there due to their lack of cores plus many of them have no clue what the bot does even with the status bar.

    In the right players hands at these low levels the bot can seal a players fate.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (2/20/2014 18:49:57)

    Balance shouldn't depend on someone else's incompetence. It should be fair for everyone - if you're unexperienced, then you will fall behind & those who are experienced, will know how to avoid it. When balancing something, you mustn't assume player is experienced nor unexperienced, ever. Otherwise, you're - technically - balancing the game for the smart, and for the not-so-smart.

    DeathGuard -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/2/2014 19:39:52)

    Condition for the special attack could be changed too, not only meele attacks would activate but sidearm, bot and aux damages. Only ranged skills and cores attacks would not activate the effect. Pretty much a solution to the avoiding of the effect.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/2/2014 19:53:39)

    That would be slight overkill, because you shouldn't rely on secondary means to avoid the effect - meaning skills and/or cores. You could always make it work with all melee attacks, including skills (but Massacre; Ultimate), and use my suggestion for its effect - so it wouldn't be wasted Energy on a move you can't even use.

    DeathGuard -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/2/2014 20:21:19)

    @Trans: Hm, all received attacks would activate effect, and while in 2 vs 2, how would it work? I had suggest that either if the user or his ally receive damage from the foe with effect, the special attack should activate.

    Ranloth -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/2/2014 20:30:32)

    Still, it'd be a bit too much to have all weapons activate it - but not skills/cores. For the same reason, Thorns (Bio Borg) only work on melee attacks only. You could always make the effect disappear after the activation (so if I get hit with the Colour Blast and use Strike, I get self-damage and the effect disappears). This way, affecting all melee attacks could work well.

    Mother1 -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/2/2014 23:43:51)

    @ Deathguard

    yeah let's overpower this bot because it isn't so easy to abuse like most of the other bots. Why do you think they only made it's effect work with strike in the first place? They wanted a tactical bot and making your opponent avoid it while playing out of their comfort zone is very tactical and useful.

    Making it work the way you want it would overpower it at all levels especially at the lower levels where many players even with the tutorial don't have full gear.

    As it is now at lower levels this bot is strong, and at higher levels it is still useful especially against all those strength builds that love to spam strike due to having a lot of strength.

    martinsen5 -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/3/2014 16:45:17)

    @Mother1, While what you say about Bunny Bot being effective at lower levels might be true, the bot itself is (as I have mentioned before in another thread) too situational. Especially when compared to other bots. Bunny Bot really isn't a first pick to most players, which is why it should recieve a reasonable buff, imo.

    NDB -> RE: Bunny Bot (3/3/2014 21:03:03)

    quote:

    So can a lot of other bots. Simply having a bot at all is already quite an advantage.
