Why aren't the new classes free?.
Maybe once they first come out they should have been buy-able, but now that they're not really considered new, and people see them the same as the other classes, I don't see why they aren't selective as a new character.

So there's an incentive to spend Varium/Credits, to switch to a different class that not everyone may use - i.e. evolved classes are less common at lower level, so you're more unique. No advantage (minus possible imbalance). It's purely for variety and as an incentive.

When a newbie joins the game and has to pick between a Mercenary or a Tactical Mercenary, who do you think he will choose?

I think if he's completely new there's a good chance of either..
If it were too happen I can see epicduel being like 3x popular.

If you return enhancements, I can see the game becoming P2W again too.

The point still stands. It's been done this way for sake of variety and incentive to spend some Credits/Varium, if you need a change of classes to evolved ones (unique, not more powerful).

Obviously they would choose Tactical Mercenary because the name seems to imply that it is a smarter version. Plus, it sounds way more catchy (which is also an influence in character selection).

Epicduel wouldn't become any more popular just from this addition, in the long run. Sure, some players will want to finally have access to these classes and make new characters, but that will last a very short time when they get bored of it's lack of consistency.

To add on, evolved classes do terrible at low levels. Now, we wouldn't want some newbies signing their death contract right away when they start the game, now do we?

Evolved classes as they are now give players incentives to class change, or buy varium. It would be wise to just keep it as it is.
