ambien -> the truth (3/6/2014 16:32:38)

some player on ed who started playing ed after gamma and there is a lot l bet. have never played ed when varium players and free 2 players battled head to head more then, then now, since they have made everyone to have a chance to get varium items, l am not talking about the true varium items.

anyway in reading post here today players are again mad because no updates, weapons prices, luck, 2v2 pairing an so on an so on.

the real question is will ed ever come back to fair battles, right damage given out, to many critz, to much luck,manna stealing, healing, blocking, the right weapon for the skill to work on skill tree
ed was made as a pvp game or a 2v2 we can all agree on that l hope so. when ed started there was a time you had to pay to play when it started. after ed got into beta a lot of players started playing ed
because they could play for free, or pay to play to get some what better items for battles. and some free 2 play players could stand toe 2 toe with ( pay players. )

then the devs of ed made some changes to the game after reading forum post how they could maybe improve the game for non paying players, and they did or tried to.

well somethings went south if l can use that wording. so the devs redid a lot to try to help to do some good and then a hand full of players said the game was not working right. which l mean they said some classes with the new changes are now oped vs other classes. so the devs tried again an again to help with this problem. well we are still having some problems again with some classes.

so what can be done everyone thinks they have the answer to fix the problem. . ( the only way ed can be fixed now listen carefully ) maybe going back to the basic way ed started and rework damage dealt out, rework block% and critz% of hitting target, giving back passive skills , not all but we know which ones classes need. there is a lot more but we all know some day epic duel will do great in time .

any way my thoughts on this on going battle of oped and luck on ed
always the syfy

Ranloth -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 16:42:42)

Passives will not be coming back, ever. Devs have vetoed it already.

Also, blocks, crits, and deflections have been always broken. They weren't "balanced" in Delta, Gamma, or even Beta. They are more broken in Omega due to luck-enhancing cores, nothing else. In fact, they are weaker - the effects - compared to before. Why are they broken? Because ED uses a simple attack system, not on per-hit-basis.

In fact, the only real problem is with blocks. Crits aren't really a threat anymore, after countless nerfs. Deflections are so-so, could use better scaling. And rage still remains broken.

Yeah, there weren't ever fair battles - well, they were if you paid. I don't get the "right damage given out" bit, crits are a lot weaker than in Beta/Gamma/Delta so I don't see why you want to buff them again, and... what does healing have to do with it all? It can't possibly be bad. :|

kosmo -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 17:00:27)

i must to agree whit trans on the luck thing.

whatever the game can t afford a return to pay to win sistem.
what is needed is to find a way to make players buy varium whitout braking the balance between classes evry time.

ambien -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 17:07:22)

if did not play in beta how can you post a remark on this forum post that deals with beta phase, what l am saying is. healing went south when they took support out, for healing points. they are not broken as bad as they are now. more damage is now dealt out then ever before in the history of the game . rage has always been there, blocks before you took no damage, the cores did 2 things made players buy weapons for cores and some cores did some over kill,an for nerfs players asked for them not every one did some players did.

l never said buff l said reworked not the same as a buff. if you never played beta you cannot quote answers to the questions. btw way techs before assimilation came out was a very tough class to beat. l do not get where you get buff again l said reworked not the same thing as a buff.

if you played ed in the old days you can see what has happen , good things have happen an somethings that maybe stood ed still for awhile. l would like to have some of the old players post what they think. ed can be fixed more an more which the new phase will bring a lot of new changes to the game , skills and classes, which l welcome.

btw passive skills still in the game. so to say never well l quess the skill on the tree is wrong then when it is 0 cost.

edwardvulture -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 17:14:38)

You should check out my thread in the suggestions titled something like Skill Tree expansion. It brings passives back in a balanced way and could promote build diversity. Also, it's pretty obvious the devs screwed with stats too much. That is explained in my other suggestion.

Ranloth -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 17:36:02)

Passive skills are always active, not ones that cost 0 Energy. Also, we're talking skills - not cores. And they won't ever come back because Devs have said so already. I'm basing my response off that, not predicting the future. <.<

Mind you, I'm a Founder so I did play in Beta. Instead of trying to go with personal remarks, you could've explained what you meant instead of saying "healing" - no mention whether you meant heal looping TMs, or nerfs to Heal, etc.

Another fact you got wrong - we don't deal more damage than in the past. Weapons got nerfed a little in Omega, stat progression took a massive hit (Str and Support), %-based skills got nerfed, and only Resistance was nerfed down (to match Defense). We're dealing less damage than before, but due to slower HP scaling, it translates to more damage. Had HP scaling stayed the same, damage:HP ratio would be different.

doomkiller98 -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 17:44:33)

Honestly I think the game broke when they added 3 new unbalanced classes (and still are unbalanced) And trying to balance those new classes Made the original 3 classes balance, go out of whack, A solution would be to remove classes, or add more, because trying to "balance" All the classes at once isn't working.

kosmo -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 18:19:12)

syfy@

yes im from beta, i remember you as a non varium tech mage whit 5k wins.

what im sayng is that the game cannot afford pay to win again;
in alpha and beta p2w sistem wasn t that broken, but gamma and delta forced evry one to use varium to survive, and once they removed p2w in omega those players felt ripped off and quitted.
if u introduce p2w sistem again the same thing will happen, and it would probably bring the game to its end.

Ranloth -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 18:27:45)

quote:

I still believe this is the reason why players have quit, not the actual removal of P2W or Omega's (new) features. Most of it was the refund part, whilst minority dislikes the lack of P2W concept. *for the same reason, going back to previous phases won't bring players back, but rather lose even more - those who dislike the P2W concept*

Mother1 -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 18:42:05)

@ trans

It was not only that but other things as well here are some others I can think of.

1 Removal of NPC wins
2 Never fixing all of the original problems they said omega would fix

s0u1ja b0y -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 18:52:08)

They havent put any rares in arcade or redo them like they said Omega is lots of broken promises.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 18:56:25)

@soulja

There are old rares you can win from the arcade. Spectral Reaper. Harvest Reaper. Pink Yeti (basically just another yeti). Skullfire Blasters.

s0u1ja b0y -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 19:08:49)

They still broke promises. An item like bunnyzooka was supposed to be redone and put in arcade or be able to bought.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 19:19:03)

They never said which types of rares. They just said rare items.

Mother1 -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 19:23:25)

@ dual

They said old retired rares in the design notes

quote:

Rare Clarification
In last week's Design Notes, I mentioned that the Arcade would give you a chance to win retired rares. There was a bit of an outcry from those who were concerned that their own rares would be devalued. I'm happy to say, that you need not worry -- your hard-earned rares will remain rares. We've decided on a happy compromise to introduce Arcade exclusives -- items that can only be won in the Arcade. Some of these items will be revamped or reimaged versions of retired items. This preserved the value of the older rares while giving new players a reason to play! However, items like seasonal rares, limited quantity items, or prize-code items are still up for grabs! Also, legacy items like Founder Armor or Alpha Gear will be excluded for obvious reasons. I hope that addresses your concerns about rares in the Arcade!

If you read it right here it will tell you that they were talking about the rares that you could never get again otherwise they wouldn't have used the term retired rares.

l remb in beta ----gamma l was a f2p player to be on altime board with 47k wins in a varium world of players and the odds were not in favor for f2p players but we played it and did not get mad because varium was ruling or they had oped builds, we just played, an they had better weapons an weapons an even bots back there vs us f2p. one thing l did see then a lot better f2p player in the days of beta ----gamma, sorry but it is the truth.

l guess l do not understand now why their is so many players getting mad now at devs or saying they are not listening no more. the f2p players played in those tough times we played vs oped builds, varium players an some of us did fine in what we had to use.

but l guess there has to be a balance soon in the game . they are trying to fix it, either by nerfs, buffs, changing skill stats, weapon types for to use a skill.

hopefully the new phase that is to happen on the 7th will change again the face of the game to the better. the old days in ed you played what you had to play with.

booster may be could help once again they help back then, maybe bring them back again it might help the manna problem.

my thoughts again on this subject

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: the truth (3/6/2014 23:44:16)

Offtopic,
i was a beta non varium player and for me, syfy and jarithemighty were 2 of the players who proved that you doesn't need to have the strongest weapons in-game in order to win. It's just pure skill, strategy and the will to go on.

On topic,

the players including me waited for 3 weeks of no update just to give the devs the time they needed in order to fix the imbalance of the game. I just hope that they made the right move this time because i don't think players can afford 3 more weeks of playing a relatively imbalance pvp especially for level 38 and level 39's fighting all the high rank legendary players.

edwardvulture -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 0:47:08)

Actually they're probably not working on balance at all. I think they are attempting to re-do the war in order to re-vitalize the player base. What they should really be doing IMO Is playing with balance until there are a plethora of diverse builds again. check out my suggestion that could possibly revitalize the game

kaiseryeux21 -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 2:39:42)

@edward, well if they would not touch balance, all their effort to revamp the war will somehow fail since it will only be enjoy by elite few.

Thylek Shran -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 6:18:14)

Charfade said that they wont change ED totally so there is no way in going back to Gamma.
The basics of ED are better now but the BIG problem is that alot balance problems get ignored
since Omega got released !!! Its more than 1 year of huge unbalance that let so many players quit ED.
I just say OPed promo cores, Bludgeon, Strenght builds, OPed energy control skills, and now the
Legendary disaster which adds alot more unfairness.

Instead of PVP BALANCE which is the core of ED, the devs prefer to implement new content, and new
content, and new content, and new content, like a revamped Dread War, which drives alot players mad.
So the priorities are very, very wrong.

Please read my suggestion about Bludgeon and similar skills:
http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=21619803&mpage=1&key=

quote:

there is a lot more but we all know some day epic duel will do great in time .

Players hope for that since 5 years now and when you are realistic you know that this NEVER will happen.

comicalbike -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 8:12:49)

Thylek Shran the only problem with the game is the bad balance since omega they have tried and cant fix it for five years now the strength balance has been bad i like the new war thing but without balance first wont bother much but if the balance comes at the same time i will give it a try if not will wait

Ranloth -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 8:39:01)

Imo, before they attempt balancing classes, stat progression should be fixed first. The base 4 stats + HP/EP. Then they should look at weapons, and finally focus on balancing skills. (classes) After that, it'd be blocks, deflections and criticals. (probability based effects) Lastly, just fix rage - which is already being done, but no deadline given.

If you attempt to balance %-based skills & alter Strength progression, you end up affecting both and just creating a bigger mess. Likewise with lowering/increasing weapon damage & fixed value skills, you end up affecting the balance between the two. And with balancing HP and defense, if you buff one, then you - indirectly - nerf the other.

One of the reasons why I'm not too keen on weekly balance updates that are merely band-aid fixes, unless it's necessary to fix imbalance - such as nerf to Str/Support at the beginning of Omega. Core features first, then the rest.

comicalbike -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 9:10:13)

Trans if i agree with what you say it just means i wont play much till fixed so the war not important now so thank-you the balance is so bad i will wait till fix as is has been a very long time like it now
well the stats now have made the game badly unbalanced so you can have high health and strength and smash your way through good builds all you need is is strength and dex and high heath
and away you go its been like that for some time now so i will just play big tuna till fixed i dont see the point of a war if not fixed sorry.
without some type of fix game no fun and if no fun no reason to play much

Mother1 -> RE: the truth (3/7/2014 9:35:00)

If all the staff did was balance updates constantly with no other content everyone who wants new stuff and content would end up quitting because of this. Plus no offense to the staff with the current track record they have the same players who want balance updates and think the staff should only focus on that would still complain because all the current balance updates have been doing big or small has only shifted the flavor of the week builds/class from one to another.

At least with them doing both the people who like getting content are actually happy instead of just having everyone ticked off and leave.
