@8x, perhaps the patch notes will be done this friday.

the new tanks are great as it brings another fun stuff into this game. No gamebreaking cores, or varium only weapons that brings advantage to pvp. Atleast these bombs would somehow give help to legion. It's no fun fighting a war when one side obviously overpowers the opposition. I just hope the devs can bring some other stuffs that would somehow level the playing field between exile and legion players. It doesn't have to be in a form of varium only weapons or bombs.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 2:59:12)

@ Kaiseryeux21

Actually on the live feed from what was said from the staff legion outnumbers exile by 30%. The thing is that the exiles are just more active then the legion players which results in the legion being slaughtered even though they have the greater numbers.

If legion players got more active and worked together like the exiles they would be winning not exile due to their superior numbers.

Also there is a hanicap feature already in play to keep one side from losing by a landslide but it wasn't up until yesterday.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 3:22:06)

yeah most legion players are low-level and just end up not playing or participating in the war. There are noticeably more level 40 exiles than legions.

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 4:11:27)

Yes, They Said A Handicap Will Help Balance The Numbers So There Are No Excuses From Legion Players Moving Forward.

Side Note ~ The Live Chat Was A Lot Of Fun And The Staff Did A Nice Job Trying To Answer Questions During A Chaotic And Steady Flood Of Messages.

comicalbike -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 6:08:53)

Buffy A. Summers yes they done a very good job and said balance was coming soon as well

kosmo -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 6:57:57)

no one knows how the cannons work.
whitout info, complaining about being in the loosy side has no sence what so ever.

Calogero -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 13:25:59)

Untill things change for the good, I decline entering this war nor loging in the game whatsoever...
Good luck to the Legionairs that are fighting but this isn't worth my time at all in the state we are in now.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 15:31:24)

Apparently they put a handicap system in place to stop the issue with uneven player numbers but it was bugged and only went online recently. I wonder if it will have a noticeable impact on the war

I didn't know you weren't allowed to say anything bad about epicduel.

s0u1ja b0y,

I'm going to start first by giving you the simple answer: That's not accurate in the sense that you're meaning.

Now, the longer and more detailed answer:

If you read the =ED= EpicDuel Discussion Forum Rules you'll see a whole section dedicated to 'Constructive Criticism'. This shows an example of the differences between negative feedback that is actually useful and negative feedback that does nothing but disrupt a thread/post.

All gaming companies need feedback, including negative feedback. Negative feedback tells game developers what can be fixed, improved or dropped. What AE requires on the forums is that players give negative feedback in a way that is actually trying to help and build, rather than tear down. Constructive Criticism also tells game developers what they are doing RIGHT.
This is actually a very simple requirement. To have everyone take the time to construct their words so that they can be seen, useful and respected. It's much better than having your posts/threads edited, deleted or otherwise. I think everyone can agree with that, if they take the time to consider it.

When players actually take the time to explain things without getting themselves sidetracked by tantrums, flaming and other unhelpful behaviors - they are actually a valuable asset to the game!

This is one of the major the goals of AE. Their forums are set up in such a way that they help build a direct developer-to-player community. This kind of relationship will only work, however, if both sides enter into it willingly and without malice.

So, the fact is - it's not that players aren't allowed to say anything negative. Because as I've mentioned above, negative feedback is essential to game development. It's how that feedback that is given that is crucial and required.

s0u1ja b0y -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 16:23:31)

Maybe they've been deleted, but I didn't see anything that wasn't constructive criticism.

Lord Barrius -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 19:05:49)

That's because we tend to delete posts which don't follow the rules.

And as I've said, I'm open to negative opinions, provided you can express that negative opinion in a constructive way. The problem is that people don't seem to understand the difference between "having an opinion", and expressing it like an adult. So they mouth off, they get rude, inconsiderate, and demeaning towards developers who are honestly just trying to do their best to make you all happy....and then they wonder why those devs withdraw from that sort of feedback and don't want to frequent the forums as often. It's not unique to this forum, it's a common trait across all gaming forums. We're just asking you to take those negative opinions and try to express them in a more adult tone.

Don't get me wrong, guys, I'm a gamer too. And I have an opinion about releases, too. Sometimes very strong opinions, at that. But I also have the sense to try and temper those words whenever possible, I don't just go blurting them out where I know I shouldn't, and I try to express them in ways that help those devs improve. That's all we're asking from you.

Calogero -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 19:22:05)

The thing is, If AE is focusing on Younger players, well Have you seen young players make a well thought post about their concerns and problems with the game?
You can't make a game focused on young childeren and then expect adult constructive comments.
And those ' adults ' that are here are pretty fed up about the state of the game that doesn't seem to change for the good at all.

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 19:42:35)

Excellent Point!

I Agree.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 20:01:39)

@ calogero

couldn't have said it better myself. There are quite a few things that has been done that have really gotten under the players skins including my own.

Lord Barrius -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/21/2014 21:26:35)

Except that it's not an "excellent point", it's just an excuse for bad behavior.

You are on a forum designed for people aged 13 and up. That means you are all either adults or are rapidly approaching that age. You no longer have the excuse of acting like you're all too young to understand the difference between adult behavior and childish behavior.

And that's the final word on the subject, as far as I'm concerned. Meaning that this discussion will not continue past this point, for any reason. We are not going to have an argument about the rules here, in another thread, or at all. You will follow them and act like an adult, or find somewhere else on the internet that will permit you to behave as a child. That's the final word.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 4:19:48)

It would be cool if we heard more news regarding this matter,

quote:

Over the years we’ve attracted some amazingly talented and ambitious players. Our player base may be much smaller than AdventureQuest Worlds, but the level of talent is no less. Our intention for EpicDuel Evolution is to allow more input and direct involvement from our players to influence things like content creation and balance. If you were shy about contributing content or ideas to EpicDuel, now is a better time than ever to express because soon we’ll be offering the resources to make them a reality!

Taken from the last months design notes.

8x -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 5:07:44)

They spoke a bit about that in the last livestream.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 9:58:11)

Cool what did they say?

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 10:01:20)

Did you hear of the new Guest Artists who are now working with Charfade? This is the content creation, because they gain skills and are able to create items of their own, or whatever it is they need (baackground, button images, etc.).

There wasn't much said about it, because the release just went live last week (I think; losing the track of time... <.<), and they've focused on the War update for now. There was confirmation given for a balance update sometime soon, which was worked on since January - so we may expect a bigger change, instead of petty band-aid fixes. No deadline given.

8x -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 11:01:18)

quote:

They said that they were developing tools to help them get feedback about balance from players faster and then they can make proper adjustments to balance if they are necessary.
Also as Trans mentioned, they are trying to include players with the content creation.

Remorse -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 12:25:09)

^ This is awesome news!

I think this is a great decision done by the devs.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 12:36:19)

It's something I've posted about not too long time ago, about getting feedback from in-game via polls and "feedback forms" similar to reports. This way, they'd know the player's class, level, and even build, as well as take feedback from there. Balance Tracker already does some of this stuff, but expanded system with the said feedback forms, would improve it further and give more feedback to read through and then make appropriate changes.

Forum will still have an upper hand, in suggestions and even more detailed feedback, but the in-game community will have bigger say too. We won't get perfect balance, ever, for various reasons, but we may get close to it. Not perfect, but playable and not broken.

edwardvulture -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 13:08:59)

I hope we should be able to poll passives to actives and reverse the decisions but most of the current active players probably don't even know what passives were like.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 19th, 2014 - Dread War Chests (3/22/2014 13:13:41)

Devs have vetoed the return of passives into the state they were before. If they decide to return them under your suggestion - which is 2 skill trees - then there will not be a poll, because that'd be a new suggestion, not altering the current balance (buffing/nerfing skills only).
