I was figuring you would answer questions 1 and 4 actually. Though for the first one, it depends on the (social/business) power of her creator and how much of a threat/asset the people that made her consider her to be. Second to that is how successful she has been in her mission so far, and how well known she is to people who would potentially want to hunt her (such as creators/companies she had wronged for starters). I would also like to know why she hates robots so much.

Cyberphile is an alternate timeline directly branching off of another universe (Vitality Underground), so Cyberphile takes place on an alternate Earth. Though there might be some serious altercations due to the abuse and misuse of technology that's more advanced than humanity would of developed if Cyberphile's creator never shared his ideas.

Regarding how the plot would evolve, most of what I would say would be major spoilers. I'll really just share that the nature of artificial life and what humanity (not humans) actually is are two of the main things I want to go for. Other than that, I don't really want this to be a happy story but not a ridiculous attempt at darkness either. Furthermore, I guess I'll share one thing: The hack-killing isn't the beginning & end of the main plot.

If you guys work together or fight is all up to you, though I do hope you guys will be in-character the whole time. Besides that, I'll keep those things in mind. Though regarding advancement, the continents that are overall the most technologically would be North America/Europe/Asia. Specific countries/states/etc would be Indiana and Japan for starters. Everything else' technological advancement is primarily based on the wealth of the average person and how many people/companies are there providing/creating advanced things.

I'll write the first update tomorrow, so you have until I next get on to make any changes to your applications or suggestions on how to start your update. Oh, here's another specific Robotic Unit.

N.I.L.E: Known as a Nanomechnical Intelligent Living Entity, the N.I.L.E is one of Kaiser-Neo's first products after the merger. Though it comes in several varieties, their main feature is that they're a shape-shifting mass of nanomachines. While most N.I.L.Es are little more than a novelty or pet, there is a much more sophisticated version called N.A.B.A (Nanomechnical Artificial Biological Agent) and a greatly more enabled version called N.E.T. (Nanomechnically Enabled Technology).

The main reason Ven doesn't like Robots is because she thinks of them as a cruel way of saying that the beauty of life is no longer necessary, and that humans are no longer useful. Her hate is also fueled by the fact that she sees robots and other mechanical creations as a possible enemy to her and her artificial army.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/16/2014 13:29:53)

Pretty odd thing for an artificial lifeform who's not even human to think. Plus, since humans are the ones making robots entirely of their own will its even more bizarre for her to think that. But I'm most interested in seeing how her robot racism ends up so fine with me. Besides that, I wanted to mention the following: Cyberphile has developed some degree of time travel, which they use to relay information and complete paperwork faster. Their time travel tech can only send things back in time up to five hours (seven at most), and attempting any further causes the object to become irretrievable. They also know trying to actually use it to alter events won't actually change anything at best (changes to the past = new timeline, thus a different universe instead of an altered universe) and at worst cause all kinds of crap to happen. Though they're very careful with their time-travel delivery system, always sending objects to a completely different complex when its going backwards more than a few minutes. In addition, even if one of you decides to interfere that would just cause an alternate universe to happen instead of actually impacting this one.

Secondly, I wanted to mention that Kaiser-Neo create biomechnical suits called Seelie which varies from powered armor like things to something akin to mini-mecha. These biomechnical creations are mainly restricted to their own security and people/groups/etc that they trust. I would probably say that during the Technological War Kaiser Robotics created transforming mini-mecha that were mainly tank-like things. Neo Genesis on the other hand utilized artificial lifeforms they called Fae (because of their occasionally inhuman appearance and seemingly magical abilities). In fact a couple of their Fae became more or less stars.

Besides all that, the very first update will be made soon. I hope you guys will share your opinions and feelings on all your updates instead of silently condemning me for mistakes I don't realize are mistakes. By the way Salene, do you think your character can survive against a cyborg?

Are applications still open? If so I'd like to apply. Also, kkut, I'm sorry for abandoning your last game and promise it won't happen again.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/25/2014 1:04:47)

Yep, still plenty open and to be fair you didn't have many options in that last update. I would be interested in seeing a rather obviously inhuman character or an artificial that serves humans but feel free to do whatever. Though I am kind of interested in writing the updates for a character that works for Cyberphile or Kaiser-Nro.

Disc Lorde -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/25/2014 16:25:50)

Hmm. Well I have a couple ideas for characters and neither of them are artificial. One's a genetically engineered superhuman. Genetically modified but still very much human. The other's a street boy who wandered into the underground one day. I could write the first one to work for Kaiser-Neo or Cyberphile, but I'd have to be careful because I don't want to play a character who's just following orders.

I see why an obvious artificial would be interesting, but I just don't have any ideas for it. In case I do get an idea, they face discrimination right?

I'll get my app up tonight.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/25/2014 19:48:01)

Basically, unless you're a naturally born human you will be treated as something beneath. People don't bat an eye at robots being murdered, artificials that commit crimes will likely be punished worst, and in general it sucks (socially speaking) to be anything other than a natural born human. Furthermore, artificial criminals also leave a bad image for all artificials. In fact, because of the actions of one of the earliest Illegals (called The Midnight Stiticher, basically invulnerable to conventional weapons and heat/light based ones in addition to being a generally unstoppable serial killer of Horror Movie levels) very few legal creations possess true free will because of humans' fear of more psychopath monsters like it.

Though, at least publicly speaking Kaiser-Neo is pretty friendly to artificial life of all kinds. The heads of Cyberphile at the least also respect artificial life. Though I am interested in writing the updates of a character who is actually part of the Underground than just using it like Gideon.

Disc Lorde -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/28/2014 1:52:48)

(I should stop making promises like that. On the plus side, I came up with the idea for this vampire-like character who has two of the things you want to see. WIP, I need to put in his origin story and put on a few finishing touches.)

Forum Name: Disc Lorde
Character Name: Damien
Race: Artificial
Inventory:
Abilities/Skills/Powers: Superstrong muscles (greatly increased strength and speed), improved eyesight (can see in the dark and make out details far away)
Backstory: (origins)

Damien resembles a male in his early twenties, but with unnaturally pale skin and yellow eyes. He also has fangs. He wears either sunglasses or colored contacts to hide his eye color. The contacts shift when he blinks, tend to fall out in water, and are uncomfortable if worn for long periods of time. He needs special nutrients to survive. Blood is the easiest source, but there are also supplements he can take, which he now has a small supply of. He can subsist entirely on blood, but other than that, he can digest meat, fruit, and simple sugars. He cannot digest anything else.

For several months Damien wandered around the city, feeding off junkies and trying to stay unnoticed. His fortunes changed when he happened upon the underground. He got a job there as a builder's assistant. They keep him for his exceptional strength, and don't seem to care much about his abnormalities. He's been working here for about a month now, and it's starting to feel a bit like a home.

kkutwar -> RE: The Junkyard (Cyberphile, Eight Slots Open) (5/31/2014 10:44:07)

Unless the promise is something simple like keeping a secret, I've learned its just better not to mess with it. Granted, I do have an aversion or such for deadlines so that's not very helpful... Speaking, update will be whenever I bother to update. Currenctly playing my Tales games to get ready for Xilla 2, but if the emptiness of words mean anything to you then I aim for an update in a few days. Besides that, character is good so far.
