It would be handy for him to learn about it. I hope he does.

Also, what do you all think of my latest char idea? I was listing to some Zelda music, remembered the old Quadforce Quest in DF, and decided to make a char based on it.

Megadragonknight -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 9:42:15)

@titan
Hope have revive! I trust in Captain Rhubarb's ability to help revive OS even for a week. If he manage to make HS rise again, so can OS although he will need time to learn OS's working style but I am sure he will succeed.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 10:05:57)

@megakyle I like it just needs to be drawn out now :D

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 10:14:44)

Thanks. I'm no good drawing but since Chaosripjaw seems to be taking requests and I liked his work with the Gigerian I'll ask him to draw that and Thrian Onyxheart if he's cool with it.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 21:22:22)

@Gorillo: Hey, can you ask Capt. Rhubarb about the "yet" in his Tweet. So he has plans to learn how it works, and work on it? Or was that just some false hope?
And if he is going to learn how Oversoul works so he can start working on it, when?

Just my opinion -> I don't think this brings back real hope. :P

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 22:53:40)

If he wasn't gonna do anything he would of left out the yet since most AE people tend to be brutally honest or just straight troll you.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 23:16:19)

Brutally honest or straight troll you. . . . Keyword "most." But heheh, if that's what you believe, then okay. xD
Besides, I asked "Or was that just some false hope."

Obviously I acknowledged that he might've not put YET in the message if he wasn't, but things can always change, not to mention nobody in my opinion seems to
want to work on Oversoul. So it's a confusing matter.

In addition to that, the big question, WHEN. For all we know, he'll start working on OS 3 years from now. Lol.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 23:19:57)

I asked Captain cause he worked on HS when it was a zombie to help it get a lot of progress but the problem with OS completely didn't gameplay style from all the other AE games so you have to learn new codes.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 23:42:10)

And what's your point in that reply? I know that, which leads to the question of WHEN.
With "yet" and how he still has to learn, it still keeps us hanging on when OS is going to get some help.

Basically it gives us nothing really. WHEN will he turn his attention to OS and learn how it works?
WHEN will OS get some help?

Understand where I'm getting at Gorillo?

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/21/2014 23:47:53)

Any type of news is better than no news be grateful he could of said I don't work on OS like a lot of other DEVS.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:05:28)

Eh. I would've been more grateful if the news was wrought without having been asked. It might've shown me that they still might have a sliver of care for OS.
As for it being "news." It matters on how you think about it. Some may think that as heaven on Earth, but I think about it as an attempt to try and cool things off a bit, with an answer that would have
convinced some people of "hope" for Oversoul. Again, leaving us hanging, but just re-worded so it'd be sweet to your ears.
And might that be the case, it's obviously working. But I'll try not to dwell too deep in that topic. I'll probably get muted. Haha.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:25:18)

As one of the top AE programmers and the fact he volunteered to work on HS and fix the problems its quite likely he will stay to his word.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:35:32)

And what about Warlic and Rolith? Yeah uhm, I don't think I have to go deeper than that.
Furthermore, true, he volunteered. However, do realize that also it seems like he was allowed to volunteer.
I'm not sure if the same would happen for OS. After all, he might be needed for other projects, just like how Warlic and Rolith were.
So I'm not too excited. Lol. :P

So yeah, keep in mind that he's not a boss of his own. Artix is the boss, so if Artix says work on this, he'll have to work on that.
And with all the stuff going on, Project Omni and stuff, well I don't see a bright future.

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:40:05)

I spent close to $700 on this game gonna keep on believing something good will happen no matter what anyone says. >.>

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:47:33)

Well I now can see why you retain such hope for the game. You spent $700? Wow. It's too bad Nulgath can't use forums. I'm sure he'll mention something to you. :)
Though of course, "donating" cash to online games is risky. After all, to me, it's like running the stock market. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

A question, are you still purchasing SGs? Even in this state that the game is in?

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:52:35)

I buy sgs almost every week.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:53:45)

o_o

What the. . . . . . what do you even spend it on to need that many SGs?!
Oh right, those weekly releases. . . .(edit)

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:54:51)

I run full boost it takes 39 sgs to do it.

DidYouKnowThat -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 0:57:08)

39 SGs. . .1950 ACs then. . .
I think 1SG is supposed to equal 50 ACs.

Dang, dude. . . . Doesn't the game ever get boring to you? Lol.
And I want this from a buyer's perspective such as you.
Do you think these weekly releases are worth it for SGs? Yes or Nah?

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 1:02:02)

Not really but I have a lot of free time as an insomniac who works at night and 2nd job involves me being the CP already.

I mostly just chat since my CP is very slow which is why I run full boost super slow becomes just average slow at the point.

I think a large reason I play this is cause I started playing the week after it went live to people outside of stress testers and I have a good amount of perma rare stuff.

No most of the new characters being released are horrible with terrible animations.

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 2:10:23)

Well, you can always ask the good captain if he is willing to do that.

Also, quick question: What do you mean about the HS stuff? I did not hear any news on that so I'm in the dark.

Kamen no Otoko -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 4:37:00)

I do pray for everything to turn out okay, but firstly, I do hope they fix this freeze thing. I always get this around after 30 minutes of grinding...[:@]

Gorillo Titan -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 7:55:39)

Captain Worked on HS a few months back to help fix a lot of the problems that couldn't be solved do to its small team.

https://twitter.com/Nulgath/status/469437723564990465/photo/1 New post by Nulgath we could get something if AQW is getting something the 5 hit has already been animated so it shouldn't be to hard to put it in OS.

LigerBeard -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 8:25:32)

Above: Good to hear that we won't go without a release!
Also, I thought of making an OS version of Galanoth, and was thinking of using Skyrim as a reference for it aesthetically. What do you guys think?

Skurge -> RE: =OS= Beta Release Thread 146 - Read the first post! (5/22/2014 8:33:02)

Here's my say on some of the things stated here. To start, I'll quote Eukara Vox's comment on a thread regarding the future of AE Games:

quote:

There is a reason some staff seem to be dedicated to certain games. Our styles are all very different. Switching between games is not easy. I work on both DF and AQ, and they are not the same thing. I had to "relearn" script writing for DF because they do things differently, they also work on a different timeline. The personality of games and their staff are pretty consistent. Even though I worked on AQW for a short time to help them out, I don't think I have the personality to work on it week after week after week. Different ways of putting things together, different art, different goals. Short spurts, yes. Long term? Not sure.

Asking people to relearn how things are done is difficult. There is a reason some games have people who only work on that game. They are the perfect fit. I mean, I respect the ED staff, but I would never be able to fit in with their style and vision. As much as OS may be fun, not sure I would fit there either.
- The Future of AE Games

Like Eukara explained above, staff changes aren't as easy as transferring someone to another department. It's a completely separate realm. If you still enjoy the thrill and fun of capturing rare monsters, gearing up your characters, and PvPing, then it's not going to get any better than OverSoul - heck, I'm still looking for Time Gentlemen and I actually have fun while doing it. And if you don't exactly like the game or where it's going, you can't necessarily force other players to stop playing; like I saw earlier happen. The game does get consistent updates, so there's never been a situation where Nulgath has "abandoned" or simply forgotten about the development of the game. As long as you don't abandon the game the developers can't either.
