A percent based damage reduction system would be a big step towards fixing the game in my opinion. Along with some of the other great ideas already posted, like removing weapon requirements on skills and removing the damage and stat difference on swords. Every point invested in Dex or Tech would give 0.5% damage reduction in defense and resistance respctively.

Capping it at 50% would be best so that at 100 dex or tech any further stat placement would yield no benefits to damage reduction. Paired with diminishing returns already implemented could work so that after 55 stats that any more would give 0.4% reduction and at 75 a 0.3% reduction. Capping block and deflect chance at 30% with damage reduction of both block and deflect set at 50%.

I'm not sure if i like all the numbers (but then again: i rarely focus on exact numbers). Still highly supported.

Would fit well with reworking damages, too, along the process.

Supported.

Tanking is meaningless now, it needs a buff to be able to compete with the other builds.

@ Scar

Haven't you noticed all of the dex builds around as well as the power of hybrid armor for mercs? The moment this is done those builds will be all but unstoppable since they will eat damage for breakfast.

SCAR -> RE: Percent based damage reduction (7/5/2014 18:59:54)

Mother1: Dexterity builds do nothing but increase blocking, and increase physical resistance. If someone was to have all Energy weapons,
a build that relied all around Energy damage, they would be defeated easily. Tech Mages have the small advantage of Technician which
improves with dexterity, other classes have other shields that increase with other stats. But when that shield is over, you're probably
already going to be defeated with all the stacked up rage the people are gaining off of your shield. Now, if Passive shields were still in
place, this "Damage Reduction" boost wouldn't be as necessary, Passives can still be optional. If Active shields were to get a boost in
their Damage Resistance, or Physical Resistance, and a small reduction on energy cost, they could still be equivalent to Passives.
