Ashes of Thunderforge

Thunderforge and Rosenburg: It's like speaking Fire and Water. The most hated arch-enemies, furious antagonists, their ruthless relation and brutal past make them dire foes. Nothing would ever sprout friendliness between them, regardless of what has happened ... but is this statement correct? Maybe the greatest nemesis can forgive each other for a good reason. Or maybe they're just faking it so they could backstab each other. Anything is possible.

The Empire is rising from its ashes.
The Principality is enjoying its greatness.
Their hatred is so enormous Lore is not large enough to handle it.
But an action may change everything.

Rosenburg's Rise

Entire Lore knows the Principality of Rosenburg as one of the most prosperous kingdoms in all lands and realms. From its ancient roots, a forgotten and unvarying tribe among several others in the far North West of the continent has augmented to the status of Monarchy perhaps three thousand years ago, against the three-centuries-long Swordhaven Reign and seven-centuries-long Shadowscythe Empire. They know few, though, of its bloodstained and glorious past. The Rosenburg Monarchy has reviewed its statute and morphed into a Principality. Demesnes and castles sympathizing to the autonomy supplied by the Principality to its territories favored to the annexation of several lesser and unprotected reigns to the large and widely respected Principality of Rosenburg. In half century, the Rosenburg’s Reign doubled its territorial possession.

As time flowed, the Rosennes (name for the original occupants of the principality region) watched apprehensively the rise of a valiant race, the Darkblood. The satyr-like beasts were far from approachable, and even farther from scaredy-cats. Instead, their bravery and strategic tactics made its neighbors fear them broadly. Existence rapidly vanquished ascending small monarchies and empires, and Darkblood’s territory swiftly appropriated of them. Naturally, the greatness of both empires led for an irrational feeling of envy, odium and spite on their relation. The everlasting growth was reason for their antagonistic bond, unsurprisingly, they confronted on a military battle not several decades on. The Plapytus agglomeration of villages in the border of Thunderforge’s territory held practically defenseless, and the nations widely esteemed its importance, leading to an enormous combat in the fields only for it; due to the numerical advantage and technological superiority, the Rosennes won.

Several hundreds of years elapsed and Thunderforge suffered from a plague known as Anarchic Revolutionary Feelings. The revolution erupted, supported by the Principality of Rosenburg and speedily the once Monarchy converted into Imperialism. Differences were not seen, but the overall satisfaction increased. Maybe not having to call the monarch King was enough for the peasants to be joyful. Expansionism were politics virtuously defended by the Empire, and their target was the adored Plapytus villages – who developed progressively into an important city. A thunder assault sent Darkblood Warriors and the inferiority of the city defense was no match for them. Plapytus fell under Darkblood control, and the seizure of the city is one of the biggest mistakes performed in history of Lore.

Thunderforge's Fall

Times in Rosenburg were difficult. Harvests in the northeast were desolated to an unidentified bacterium in the. Mythical Dragons, monsters seen once in a millennium, raided the carriages that would bring food for the capital. Left not much pounds to feed the population, the Rosenne relied on Plapytus’ monetary production and mineral extractions to buy and exchange for food. As the city was stolen, all the gains were sent, instead, for the Thunderforge capital – just in the collecting season! Engulfed in a brutal wrath, Don Malcom XXIX unleashed a ruthless blast towards the Thunderforge capital, with almost one hundred thousand men, obliterating everything into their path, excluding the city of Plapytus, for their desires were to maintain it intact. The only safe haven, yet still supervised under a martial law, was the very Plapytus. Any Darkblood village, settlement or city inside the Darkblood territory were viciously crushed to ashes.

Furious ninety thousand men marched in the outskirts of Falguard. A large fortification was built within one month to protect the city, but it was in vain. No matter of the defensive strength implied by the Darkblood, the Rosenne soldiers’ absurd numbers could annihilate the strongest of all. Not even the StormKings, respected and skilled electricity-Shamans, could handle them. Many scholars consider this event, known as the Defense of Falguard, as a war theater. After all, it lasted three long and dire years. Falguard had to nourish itself, obtaining food, money, minerals all without sending a single man outside the gates. Soldiers continuously struggled against the Rosenne soldiers (although the Darkblood were in lower numbers, we are speaking of perhaps 30,000 soldiers). On the counterpart, the Rosenburg forces seemed to be disregarding an invasion inside the city, their objective seemed to be, instead, famish until death the roots of Thunderforge its capital, while they nurtured their dying citizens with the plunders from Darkbloodian territory. Once the Principality of Rosenburg returned to is thriving status, and the difficulties have passed just as the seasons of the year, the Rosenne soldiers returned home.

This entire episode procreated three events: the Great Rosenne Hunger, the Great Thunderforge Hunger and the Greatest Capitol Defense. Over 32% of the Principality residents died of hunger; about 73% of the Thunderforge population either died of hunger or through the raids, and the defense of Falguard is considered the Best Defense Ever.

Eight hundred years have passed, and Chaos wrecked Falguard. After finally reconstructing entirely from Rosenne’s unforgettable attack, allied to The Hero, chaos plague was eradicated from Thunderforge and they could live their lives again. What few they knew is that the hero that helped them defeating Lionfang is actually a Rosenne descendant…

… and fewer they knew how many several other things would happen between their arch-enemy Principality and its very own Empire.
