Rui. -> Shadow arts still a joke (6/14/2014 13:39:38)

As a 5 focus user how do I ever get 240 energy to shadow arts??

Using a sword I get back 60 to 70 energy what am I supposed to do with this ?

Has this been tested or random numbers thrown out ??

Even if shadow arts was free to use it jus useless for a tier 4 skill.

Why make a offensive class soo defensive I cant understand ed logic.

I need energy to smoke.. I need energy to mark .. I need to break their shield I need energy to shadow arts I need energy for everything... where is this energy coming from ?

All I do is strike strike strike strike !!!!

Last time I post something on the forums.. this is just not working!

There is no class that's "offensive" or "defensive" these days. They all have about the same amount of offensive and defensive options thanks to the removal of passives totally destroying any unique attributes the classes had.

I think the skill has potential,

The problem is, is that every defensive skill works the same..

You activate it for a cost, it lasts a duration..

I think certain skill would fit better if it was a free or cheap to activate and infinite lasting skill that costs per turn that it's active (ending if you have insufficient payment)

So basically it's a costs over time shield similar to how poison damages over time or how some energy drain skill drain over time.

However with the current broken energy system this would be hard to implement.

Which is why I will suggest again that they introduce a new cost system such as stamina for cores and certain skills (those skills with currently no energy cost will be given a stamina cost)

I think it has potential also. I used to think Parasite didn't have potential but once I just chgd builds and started testing builds out I figured out that its a really useful skill.

Now with Shadow Arts I feel as if it is an awesome skill however there are three faults to it:

1) Too much MP. Maybe no one has tried raising the mp on their builds yet to make room for shadow arts, however after nerfing BHs EMP to 30% they haven't been able to get back much energy.

2) % are confusing. I feel as if people don't understand the skill because of the confusing %.

3) It's not enough. Shadow Arts has to do more than just damage reduction as a tier 4 skill. It should increase block chance, or chg your side-arm and aux from energy to physical. It just isn't doing enough at the moment. After all, if Shadow Arts is a Tier 4 skill then Hybrid should be too. It's arbitrary to believe that Hybrid isn't just a stronger Shadow Arts at the basic level. There needs to be an extra perk to this skill to distinguish it from being a "shield".

If only everyone would realize this though...

Here's an idea for shadow arts:

Marks the target while dealing damage by firing your auxiliary weapon. This can be used even when your aux is in CD. The shadow arts mark will store damage received by the target for the next 2 turns after the initial aux attack, and on the 3rd turn will activate, healing the user for an amount of HP equal to a % of the damage dealt. While the opponent is marked by shadow arts their ability to block and deflect is greatly reduced. Holds a fairly low energy cost and a somewhat long CD. Each skill point of investment will increase the energy cost, the % reduction on crit/block chance, and the healing % conversion from total damage dealt.

^This would turn shadow arts into a skill more focused on healing, adding a 2nd source of healing for CH and a 3rd source for BH, as well as synergizing very interestingly with BH's mark of blood to promote extreme benefits from focusing a single target in 2v2. The initial attack is also an aux attack to promote less focus on strength always being the trigger for debuffs and similar effects, and to add some interesting factor to possible BH support builds in 2v2 due to the fact that it has a low energy cost and allows you to get a 2nd aux attack off while your aux is still in cooldown.

dfo99 -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/16/2014 1:01:51)

shadows arts and hybrid armor work like a counter to all debuffs on game, imo need be expensive.

GearzHeadz -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/16/2014 1:49:21)

Well if it's gonna be expensive it needs to be worth the cost. The average person (and I'm going by level 40 here) hits in 400 range. Shadow arts maxed will be 28% and will negate 112 damage for 265 energy, where the lowest level shields will often negate 150 damage at level 1 for around 100 energy. I think most players put two and two together and realized how raw of a deal that is. Even if shadow arts doesn't increase enemy rage gain like the shields.

Rui. -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/16/2014 11:02:48)

the cost isnt the only problem.. We need 42 support .. I can invest the points in dex or tech and have the same effect as shadow arts. This skill either needs to be changed to reflect 50% of all damage back to the opponent or make it last 4 turns with lower cost or remove the support requirement and improve % to 50. Its just a waste of skill points.. And adding points to support....

The Wayfarer -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/16/2014 19:06:48)

Improving the damage reduction to 50% would make it overpowered for one build.

This skill sadly works best for a High HP, High Strength build. Just protect yourself from both sides of damage, and continue with the intelligent strategy of pressing "Strike". While I will admit that the skill gets useless due to the support requirement (plus losing a turn to activate it gives you the rage disadvantage), this skill can get overpowered if we don't see the potential abuse of it.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/23/2014 9:02:46)

Shadow arts will only start being useful if it's in the ballpark of hybrid armour, both in effect and duration. Should be slightly weaker than HA though.

Combatoid -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/23/2014 22:45:01)

Agreed. The energy requirement is way too high, and the skill simply isn't as effective as it should be

@Exploding Penguin Hell yes.

xzkamityx -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/29/2014 18:30:43)

exploding penguin that would also make a lot more people change their builds, we would have way more build diversity, it would make support useful, and it would give cyber hunters another healing option besides heal, seeing as all classes have at least 2 forms of heal besides cyber hunter.

Therril Oreb -> RE: Shadow arts still a joke (6/30/2014 4:12:29)

As I have posted in this thread: Discussion of classes and their skills.
All discussion of the classes and their skills have their own place now so I would like to ask everyone to discuss this further in either the Bounty hunter or the Cyber hunter thread.
