One Winged Angel1357 -> Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 13:37:56)

Now I think it is fair to say Overlord Facility was a success in what the war system was supposed to do. Legion and Exile were neck and neck the entire war and aside from a visual bug everything went smoothly. Now that we have seen a proper war, created thanks to the suggestions of the forums, I think it is time we pool our resources and figure out what would improve the next war to make this system even better.

This could be seen as a suggestion thread but I would much rather we discuss all the parts of the war and how they could be modified to improve the war as a whole.

I'll start the ball rolling with disable war rally in the final 500K. Let the war outcome be decided by raw activity not which side can must a war rally lead right at the end.(I'd be complaining even if this was a legion war rally because I still think it's stupid for the war to be decided by a random buff)

Cyber Dream -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 13:51:16)

I'd like to see the war bombs turn into a rare drop and you can gain influence by winning matches.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 13:52:23)

To prevent the buy outs both sides have been doing?

Mother1 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 13:54:51)

Put the drops for war items back to what they were, or make it so you can gain influence in battle during wars. The dcecrese in war drops make it harder for free players to gain influence.

suboto -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:17:26)

not doing next war that last rally was cheap especially knowing exile buy var bombs 10x more then legion

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:19:35)

@Suboto so the next war would be better if they didn't have war rallies at the end or if they didn't have war rallies when the scores are so close?

Which, and both is an option, do you think would better improve your experience in the war?

Mother1 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:25:27)

@ OWA

legion made some mistakes that cost them in this one.

If they weren't so content with completely destroying the health hovercraft first instead of just weakening it and completely destroyed the other two after doing so first then this war rally which was random might not have mattered.

Leaving the finisher for last was a big mistake for the legion as well. If we had the standard one left it might have made some difference as well.

So it isn't just this war rally but mistakes that were made on legion as well.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:27:17)

@Mother I hear you. If we had some way to communicate with the masses about war strats then we could have avoided this but even standing at the health objective telling people to attack the other ones didn't seem to do anything

mr.p -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:47:10)

well truthfully in my opinion theres way to many god dang legit exile fractions. its mostly exile fractions on the leader, and the have all the legit players. Am not even sure how the legion kept up in the first place. but since we managed to keep up, i say that in the next war there should be no war rally, or 1 or 2 max. and make the war drops do more damage or/and give the core and ship less hp.

Daph Duck -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 14:50:42)

This war was pretty good in my opinion, people started to work together more and the new prize tier system got a lot of players (especially legion) back on their feet. The only problem is the war rally. Perhaps it should either be disabled once a certain amount of health is depleted or there could be a certain amount of points behind before the losing side gets a war rally that the system checks whenever it wants to do a war rally.

Leprechaun -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:02:55)

I agree that they should disable war rally at the end of the war because the lead was shifting every minute. Then war rally happens to random side (the side that is loosing by a tiny amount THIS MINUTE but that will easily be winning the next) and decides the outcome of the war. War rally won the war, not Legion or Exile.

EDIT: Congratulations War Rally, you've won!

GearzHeadz -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:06:06)

Honestly, I wished they hadn't locked the war prize to the winning faction. I honestly care about gear more then credits or tokens. I bet a lot of legion players felt the same. Its a shame they locked it. Especially if some legionnaires got 5k influence. Its a shame they can't even buy it with varium.

Ranloth -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:08:24)

Hm. Final push without War Rallies would be interesting - but when would the "final push" activate, and disable any Rallies? When x side reaches n Influence, or when both sides reach n Influence? What if x side reaches it, and the other doesn't + gets a Rally - would it disable once it meets the threshold for "final push"?

Also, it'd be cool if the rewards were upgraded to the level cap. Not only it requires 5K Influence now, to get the War Chest (which makes them more unique), but also would be nice. Actually, the fact it requires 5K Influence now SHOULD be the reason to have them upgraded to level cap - 100 Credit upgrades per level, basically. They do it to promos, and war items are coreless.

Tl;dr - disable War Rallies after meeting n Influence (final push threshold), increase the threshold for the War Rally to activate at all, and upgraded rewards for the above reason.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:08:56)

I really wish I could click on the war objectives and see how much health they have left. Yeah I know we killed two but I want to know how much we did to the last one

Jacobfarrow1 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:24:46)

@OWA
I believe the last hovercraft had 79,000 Health left when Exile won, as I was there when it popped up.

Mother1 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 15:29:16)

@ gearzheadz

if they had done that then there would have been nothing special for the side that wins. The reason they did this was so that while the losing side got something for their hard work the winning side would get something special.

Giving everyone the same thing would have just made it so "I get the max amount of influence I need for the war prize and then just quit not caring whether I won or lost because either way I would get the same thing.

Mysterion. -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 16:37:36)

Next war, there will be some high payers turning to Legion, I can tell you that.
It wont only be Exile anymore.

GearzHeadz -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 18:03:28)

Yeah I know Mother1, but still. If I was a legionnaire, I'd still like to have the option to pay for it, since it is rare gear. I do see why it isn't though.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 18:29:33)

@mysterion

I'm guessing you will be one of them? [8D]

Cyber Dream -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 18:44:20)

I surely will

Mysterion. -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/2/2014 20:01:44)

@Dual

You betcha.
Although I have my doubts now, Joe Jitsu went along with me, and the devs really screwed him by removing him from the warboard on overlord, so I doubt he'll spend alot of money on ED again..

Pemberton -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/4/2014 4:18:01)

You call Overlord War a success? Really??? For me this war is a disaster. Fake and fishy scores. Unexplained war rallies.
There is nothing new in this war. Just PvP with same bomb droppings and repeat over and over. This is the worst war in ED.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Fine tuning the next war (7/7/2014 9:27:36)

Sorry about the delay in response I was waiting to see if the server numbers dropped off. They did so I still call The Overlord War a success it boosted server numbers and boosted player activity which are two things that can very easily exist without each other.
