Xam tried to hold this conversation but he did it in the form of a suggestion so it was met with a nice lock.

So I'm going to try and bring this conversation back because it will be beneficial to the entire community in a way. Even if you guys tell me what kind of mission you hate the most I still have to use everything that the game offers for missions so I do apologies.

Anyway I just want to know your favorite kind of missions and why, your least favorite kind and why, and if you answered the previous two questions and only if you answered the previous two questions what kind of mission type would you like to see and why.

Do you guys like areas locked to mission chains like Seava Lionhart's room? Do you like that missions now seem to give larger rewards including arcade tokens? Do you like free weapons from missions? Do you like mission cheevo's?

These are all questions I want you to put some serious thought into because the entire Guest and Dev team wants to provide you guys with the best possible content and I want to get inside your heads and see how I can make this possible.

For me the missions I hate the most are not challenge one's but missions that force you into a battle mode you don't like. For me that would be 1 vs 1 due to not only balance but the legendary ranks making it worse. If you are going to make PVP missions that is fine with me. However make were the player can choose the mode they want. Otherwise you will get a lot of what you got in the update thread.

My favorite kind of missions? Well those would be the find items missions since it lets me explore the map something I rarely do anymore thanks to the new feature that makes it so I can jump to NPC. Those missions are easy, fun and actually fair to every. As for the ones I hate the most as I mentioned PVP missions that force you into a battle mode you don't like. Those would be bareable if balance wasn't in the crappier but sadly that isn't the cause so for me avoid PVP missions that lock you into a specific mode. Open ones are more acceptable to me since you get to pick the mode you want.

I personally don't mind these missions in the least. I remember this being done during the dragonoid saga and in a sense it make me feel some accomplishment knowing I worked hard to get to an area along with others. As for mission cheevos since I love rating points I am more than happy with as long as the amount given is worth the mission chain and differculty as well.

Digital X -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/21/2014 13:12:49)

I'm definitely all for large rewards from missions. Just like the previous lot gave around 1000 credits per mission which to me was pretty bloody good. I can't stand to be poor on credits even though I have nothing I want to purchase at the moment, it's just nice seeing a hefty lump of credits there.

Regarding favourite mission types, is the fetch quests. They're fairly easy to complete and most can be done at one enemy and completed in a short amount of time if luck is on your side. Like the recent "fetch these 3 ammo crates" took me all of 10 minutes to do, and got a nice amount of credits awareded, job done. Not too fond of 2v2 since I'm pretty bad at team battles but 1v1 I am OK doing and not fussed too much if I fail it.

I don't mind being locked into an area, you can get most of the missions done and sorted without trapsing through the entire map to complete them (Maybe I'm just lazy?)

The missions I hate most are the ones that force you into a battle mode you dislike, just like Mother1... I prefer 1v1, as I don't have to have a chance of a bad partner. Although, I dislike the Challenge ones as well, since my friends usually aren't online to help me with them.

(1) I haven't done any missions that unlock areas except the Old Fortune City one, and I liked it.
(2) I love it, as I'm pretty much always broke, and the Tokens are awesome. I got the Golden Dragon Spear recently, and it's one step closer to the Pink Yeti. If possible, I'd like more. :P
(3)Yeah, although I usually sell them if they have a nice value and/or I don't like the art.
(4) Yeah, but they're usually annoying to get. Keep 'em coming.

Favorite? I guess the ones where you find items, as I like exploring. Anything that gives a decent reward is good for me. I'd like to see one where you are given a special Token when you accept, and the goal is to just win something from the Arcade. If you abandon, the Token is gone/useless.

My favorite missions are the fight boss missions and find x item missions (makes my bike useful). I don't really care about arcade token or free weapons (unless weapon looks genuinely amazing or with a core). My favorite rewards are cheevo and good credits.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/21/2014 22:16:49)

Glad so many of you came out to answer this question in the first day. Don't worry I am actually taking notes on your answers but the reward question was really a wash because that is out of my control but still a nice thought

I would say my favorite missions (based on existing types) are the fetching missions, followed by boss missions that have a reasonable rather than excessively high or low level of difficulty. My least favorite missions, unfortunately, are those that require winning PvP battles and challenges. I'd like to see more missions that involve exploration and finding items (and, as has been mentioned by several posters, special NPCs that cannot be jumped to and appear temporarily to players in progress in order to conserve bandwidth); PvP missions can be improved by limiting the number of wins needed for 1v1 to 10, 2v2 to 5, or any combination of the three battle modes to 15, but I don't think those forcing 1v1 or 2v2 should be removed per se.

I cannot opine on locked areas yet but the idea appeals to me, though with the current world map it is somewhat pointless. I love larger rewards; however, I personally would like to see less missions granting tokens and more missions rewarding at least a moderate amount of credits. I don't care for free weapons unless they are both in a set (energy and physical) with appropriately similar names and have better artwork, though of course I am repulsively picky in that regard. [;)] Achievements are always nice, though somewhat of a disappointment after completing a large and/or strenuous mission chain.

Pemberton -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/21/2014 22:59:24)

Missions are repetitive...Game needs something new and fun...Some ideas like epicduel dating, epicduel vehicle racing, epicduel casino, epicduel 1vs1 tournaments, epicduel free for all death match royal rumble style (100 players).

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/21/2014 23:22:49)

@pemberton

You had me lost at dating [8|]

@owa

I REALLY like the missions where you hunt for items. It gives vehicles more of a purpose to own.

My least favorite missions are 2v2 wins, because you need to rely on your partner. At least 1v1 is short and dependent on you.

kosmo -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/22/2014 4:02:09)

I like pvp mission that give good credits, because I can earn extra money doing what I usually do, also I like boss fights with drops, but not if these are too hard, knowing that another class can beat them 5 levels and several ranks behind you and you need 4 stat booster and 2 hours definetly discourages you from challenging strong bosses.

uria9 -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/24/2014 0:02:39)

Mission that give cash from doing random task besides pvp. This whole game is already about pvp 99% of the time. Missions are the only thing to do other than pvp. I'd prefer if there were more missions that are less about pvp since we have enough of that.

SupportadGuy -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/29/2014 3:50:40)

I really enjoyed the latest lionheart 3 mission chain but it wasnt perfect...
I liked that it gave really big credit rewards...
I also liked the new boos and that he was challenging but not too difficult (TM)
It had a lot of types in the mission chain
e.g. finding missions

But that is not to say that the mission chain couldnt have had some improvements such as
Making it possible for lower levels.(maybe)
Grinding lionheart soldiers wasn't too exciting as well because if I remember correctly that you had to kill 20 npcs.
And mainly because killing them was boring... they just trashtalked

Maybe if they(npcs) would give more information about the place and how it got created... how they came to delta V or what missfortunes they have had in the past or are facing now... Also I would like some sound when they trash talk just for entertainment...

Or more specific tips and tricks aimed at the one class only e.g. If you are a blood mage the npc could say in a battle "Ya know if you would have MAXED MoB you would have gotten more health back!"

just a quick mention that mostly I like the finding missions but I HATE the challange missions because noone ever accepts :(

And now for the rewards!

Missions in general should have a lot of rewards but in one big mission chain it should reward
A core or a new ability or better yet you would have to choose your reward e.g. you can

Get an not upgraded armor with a class specific weapon a sidearm and an aux
OR
A core
OR
Credits

But make the rewards balanced so the core WOULDN'T be a must have.

ffeeeee -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (7/29/2014 8:33:48)

My favorite type of mission are ones with finding items because it forces me to explore the world, and gives it the beta or early gamma feel.

My least favorite missions are ones that force you to buy weapons to continue the mission chain then give you something that isn't worth the credits spent. When ending the mission chain buying the weapon still sets you at a loss of credits. EX: The ultra loop chain and more specifically the mission 3D printing

I'd like to see a mission where you battle a boss and you get something that is related to them or is in their shop as a reward. The reward will be chosen at random.

1 I enjoy these types of missions areas.
2 I like mission that give me a large reward and arcade tokens ,but i think the difficulty of the mission should give more or less tokens depending on how hard it is.
3 I like free weapons as long as i can sell them. Getting weapons has potential.
4 I like the achievements.

Ranloth -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 13:52:18)

Gonna bump the topic + a question for you guys:

How do you feel about the Bosses? Should they be as difficult Saeva was (minus possible balance issues for some classes), medicore, or maybe provide an easy mode like the Chairman (but optional, not a must).

Also, 2v1 bosses or 1v1? Do you prefer having a NPC to help you or an ally of your choice? In terms of 1v1 Bosses, how difficult should they be? (since it may also tie in with the story at the time)

Scyze -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 14:50:24)

I am really happy that there are Missions that are long and have a true meaning to them. I mean, 1000 Credits for doing one simple task is too much but I guess that's change Omega brought. I still remember doing the first Mission and the feeling I got. I came to EpicDuel after AQW and I never cared about how long Missions were. Now we get Missions chains that are long - not ridiculously long - and I like it.[:D]

quote:

Missions are repetitive...Game needs something new and fun...
So you're implying every game is not fun? Every game I've played has the same feel regardless of how long you play. Yeah, after a few updates there may be new things, but then it's all there is. Welcome to AE. Welcome to the world of gaming.

lionblades -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 21:03:33)

@Trans
I like difficult 2vs1 bosses (like Saeva). But make sure that when its 2vs1 in hard boss that we have option to pick partner. Its good for balance too if we can. Saeva wouldnt be that bad for CH if they could pick partner (Rev was too weak). Less issues with class difficulties too.

Also, if bosses drop rare items (1-5% drop rate) it is very good incentive to fight boss (for me at least)

Bionic Bear -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 21:09:37)

2v1 bosses are probably one of the most fun things in the game for me. I remember the first time I fought Dravax with Slayer, I was so excited, especially when I died and Slayer almost killed Dravax. Fighting the dragonoid brain with Charfade was also much fun. Though as lionblades said, having an option to pick who your partner is would be good.

Pemberton -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 21:14:07)

Saeva is supposed to be hardest boss so stop complaining. It should be hard to beat him. You need to be 40 with nice ranks, you need some lucks, you need to buy stat cores
or you can also class change to tech mage. If you can choose your partner you think Saeva will be the hardest boss? NO.

lionblades -> RE: Real Talk: EpicDuel Missions Content and Rewards (8/1/2014 21:54:41)

@Pemberton
It's not complaining and tell me this. How come a single CH has not beat Saeva? Ask comicalbiker, hes maxed out ranks. Hard boss and impossible boss are 2 different things. Your solution is to class change. Why force a class to have to change class just to beat a boss? Also, for your information, compared to other bosses Saeva will still be the hardest boss atm even if picking partner is allowed.
