Even if they brought back agility the way you suggested it still won't bring back variety. Why? Because balance is in the crapper. Even with this change the many balance problems won't be fixed and even with this you aren't giving the stitches that this gaping wound of a problem needs but rather putting a band-aid over it. In this case the real problem is that some stats are just far too rewarding than others and that is a fact. Seeing as defenses even with weaker dimishing returns < Strength with higher diminshing returns. If lower HP builds are going to be usable again and be able to stand up to high HP builds with strength the stats themselves need to be rewritten and balanced so strength and HP aren't so rewarding while the other stats (Support for example) are more rewarding. Now lets face it no matter what they do HP will always be the most rewarding stat because without it you lose. However, they can still balance out the other stats so that strength isn't so rewarding while Dex, Tech, and Support are. If this is done than there will be more variety because builds that normally would go into battle with a base stat and could normally do well won't have that same luck seeing as they will be hurting else where while builds that invest in stats would get the short and of the stick for doing so.
