martinsen5 -> An advantage to going second? (9/28/2014 13:17:26)

I've been playing a lot of Hearthstone, a CCG that involves a decent amount of luck regardless of who goes first.
But in order to balance the game further, there are a few benefits to going second.
(Although the win rate is supposedly still 0,5 % higher when going first, according to Blizzard)

These benefits are "The Coin", an extra card given to the player going second, in addition to starting with one more card in your hand.
So overall there are two advantages to not going first, making it easier for that player to keep up.

Should there be something similar in Epic Duel? If so, what would it be?
I'm aware the Support stat increases your chance to strike first, so that probably wouldn't be as useful anymore. In Hearthstone however, it is completely random.

This would require balance changes especially to strenght, strike
and support as it is essential to have first turn to counter a strenght
build as they can do massive damage with every turn at low or
zero energy cost. Usually strenght builds have low support and go
second so an advantage to go second would make them even more
powerfull.

@Thylek Shran

Right, so in that sense it's already fairly balanced. But when two equally strong players with the exact same build are dueling, whoever strikes first will have the upper hand.
Then again it's impossible to not have any elements of luck whatsoever.

Not Supported.

This will nerf the already seemingly useless stat known as Support.

People sometimes add that extra little bit of support simply to go first since most players don't use over 45 support (Level 38+).

So to make going first almost a disadvantage makes Support even more useless.

I agree they should definitely do this,

But they should probabaly do something that involves taking into consideration of support and level difference.

A possible example could be if your chance of starting was higher yet you didn't start then you receive bonus rage according to the difference between your chance of starting and your opponents, if you start when you are meant to or if you go second when you are meant to then no bonus is given.

Essentially this would be a support buff, since it gives those with higher support but don't start extra rage.

It would also help with level balancing as those lower in level that go second, will also get bonus rage, so long as their chance to start was higher.

For 2v2, it would work by using the combined staring chance and give split bonus rage if they don't start with a higher starting chance.

@Above don't be so quick at disregarding ideas when they can easily have issues worked around.

Maybe add in 1 less warm up for the one who goes 2nd?

I really don't think this is necessary. Is my opponent supposed to gain an advantage from getting critted? First turn strike isn't game-breakingly useful, now that the era of stun-zerker is over.
