ambien -> what do you say (11/23/2014 19:49:42)

during the years l have played ED, game talk has had its ups an downs. so if any one has a nice answer for question l am going to ask please feel to give a answer,

what do you do when the commends are hurtful, mean, an cut you down. you can take off chat log. but like mother1 said in a post you have to read the bubble chat for a moment.

maybe they will add a battle talk mute button to stop this. so what do you all think about what to do.

if you post please be nice when you answer this question,

always the syfy

Mother1 -> RE: what do you say (11/23/2014 19:57:20)

Depends on how I am feeling myself.

If I am in a calm mood I either

1) Ignore them
2) Comment with "Huh did you say something?"

If I am just annoyed already due to whatever reasons I just do #1 on my list.

But to be honest this game could really and I mean really benefit from a nice mute button so those who can't ignore those immature players can have peace without leaving the battle mode.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: what do you say (11/23/2014 20:39:03)

normally what happens is I just ignore them. If they're being really illogical I point out what they're saying is stupid and why it is. If they try and argue back more I know they're a lost cause and will probably just be a failure in society until they learn how to be respectful towards others.

Of course though, letting rude comments get to you should be something everyone works on. Being able to brush it off is really important and applies to a lot of things, not just ED.

Gold Shock -> RE: what do you say (11/23/2014 21:05:41)

It's really a shame SyFy, isn't it? A old school player of your caliber that has done nothing but be highly respected & always been a positive influence in the ED community gets treated like that. I hate that 90% of current users don't know how it was in alpha/beta. You had those players such as: Flath, Moesha, Sir Lazarus, Sparticus that would always help you with your build during battle. The turning point for me was the "BR" mumbo jumbo. Seasoned players like you SyFy just know how to ignore it and move on. Your next best bet is too just report.

I try to enforce more intelligent conversations by asking such things as "why did you use that move in that situation?" " That was a nice counter move to my skill!"

Exploding Penguin -> RE: what do you say (11/23/2014 23:11:52)

^Unfortunately, you'll either get no response or people will just throw rude comments at you when you ask why they used a certain move. The good old days of lively chat have passed :(

But yeah, people have literally no respect. I don't doubt some players these days would call Angels Holocaust or goldslayer1 a noob or something even though both these players frequently had a 95%-ish win rate consistently.

RageSoul -> RE: what do you say (11/23/2014 23:31:08)

^Let them steam their anger over their jealousy ( most of them are rude due to jealousy ) . Although it is sad that they became numerous , at least you know who's new and who's old.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 0:07:28)

Well they aren't exactly hurtful comments if I'm not getting hurt, lol.

dfo99 -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 4:30:15)

i am the only one here who don't care about what other players write in the chat? in other game that i've played was very common some retarded people write things like, Snip. Please keep it appropriate for these forums. Scakk and i really don't see any problem and usually ignore or answer: just try kiddo :D

Inkwolf -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 9:04:50)

Well, just from seeing this thread and some of the others on the same subject, it seems like some people get offended by things people only say as conversation, anyway.

For example, I have seen people describing it as jealousy if someone says "Putting up that shield saved your life" or "Lucky for you that you blocked that." To me those simply seem like comments on the game as it is being played.

I think remarks like that are totally different from the comments by people who keep fuming through the fight and accusing you of winning on nothing but luck and 'stat abuse.' XD

ambien -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 9:39:59)

l can live with lucky ,your are lucky, blocks all you do is block. even noob. l draw the line when word come in when they are banned by the ed rules. l know there is a small% of players who and will always be rude to gamers ,but some go a little to far. for those players it gives you a bitter taste in your mouth.

l still think a chat mute battle mode button should be thought about for battles. the problems comes when they talk like that sometimes you can be drawen into that kind of talk during battles which makes you just like them.
older players did not come to the battle to read rude chat. most of the time the most words said are hru, hi , sup, hows its going .etc, etc,. which is fine but when the chat becomes very rude towards you that is when the problem starts. or you can call it ( hate talk ) speech.

my
thoughts on this

Digital X -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 11:48:00)

I just ignore it, If you retaliate you give them what they want. It's like fighting back against a bully. Don't feed them. If they have nothing to feed from, they will get fed up and bored and hopefully just pack it in.

I Underlord I -> RE: what do you say (11/24/2014 19:09:53)

I tend to exercising kindness politesse towards everyone, so I generally respond in such spirit to (or altogether ignore, if the offense is particularly egregious) such individuals. [:D]

King Bling -> RE: what do you say (11/25/2014 8:45:39)

Idk this happens always with me

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: what do you say (11/25/2014 12:59:24)

There are many reasonings behind this rude behavior. What I suggest for players whom deal with this is to try to understand the demographics of this game at this current state. It is mainly young males. Expression tends to mimic older or alpha type peers. These people can be found with other online/real friends, TV/Radio/Online, and lastly, family/community environment. Normally, if a person whom has a positive frame of mind, it is very unlikely they will express negativity.

There are situations, sadly, that puts people in a negative or bitter state which can result in this poor abusive language/behavior. When one competes with/against a person whom is in a bitter state, just do understand, it could be a reflection within their reality. There are also people whom are negative that try to instigate annoyance for joy. Same issue, if they are feeling hurt or sad within, this behavior is a poor way to feel valued by hurting another.

A mute button would be great, and definitely will be effective for many situations, but there is not one available in EpicDuel now.

My suggestion is to question the player. If a player called you any name or a fowl remark, ask them the reason why. Sometimes the indirect courtesy can lead to a resolvement if the person states the reason.

There is no full solution because of the nature of humanity with so many scenarios, but the best one can do is having strength of self and not let your personal focus be altered to make another feel better by negative means.

Additionally, children rarely take responsibility for their own action(s), and tend to make excuses or blame others. In a family role, elders and parents are the ones whom support the child in this awareness of responsibility and to improve certain behaviors. And sometimes, these elders are not there or in position to deal with behavioral issues of the child, and the child can easily put this energy online where they "think" they do not have to take account of their actions.

If any player has any specific questions or an issue with a player(s), feel free to pm me.

The berserker killer -> RE: what do you say (11/25/2014 13:26:26)

I wish there were a mute button. I just don't like talking a lot in ED simply because most people are rude. Sure, one aspect of the game is community but I shouldn't have to put up with that especially since 1) I am contributing to the player base and 2) I pay to play
