Lord Machaar -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/24/2014 20:06:38)

Conclusion: The moderators that are been hired don't do their job. As simple as that. You are hired to patrol the full rooms. Not bragging with your green name.

Inkwolf -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/25/2014 7:20:58)

I doubt the rudeness appears when a mod is watching....

Lord Machaar -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/25/2014 8:04:27)

It happened yesterday at a gifting place, and all what the mod did is saying; Please watch your language.

some ED players need to be muted to get the rules.

king altoen -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/25/2014 19:54:51)

oh trust me, i've seen people cussing each others moms while mods were there.

Mother1 -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/25/2014 20:02:10)

@ Lord machaar and King Altoen

I can agree with you both. I was also at several giftings with mods there and just because the mod was there didn't stop them from cussing each other out or swearing. I seen mods give warnings but that was about it.

InFlamed Fury -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/25/2014 22:25:23)

Was anyone at the gifting at World 5 Heavy Mechachilliid earlier today? There were people screaming out Websites that contained Explicit content and then there were even more people Calling out other things, not one person was stopped or warned for it. It's kinda pathetic really that people have gone from begging to being completely rude. Someone needs to shape up the community IMO. I do my part by telling people just to be happy and thankful for the gifts but there are people who will just keep on begging/ being rude. I hope that this ends with the ending of this event (As awesome as it is)

dfo99 -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/26/2014 5:14:13)

i am not american but in the USA movies the people usually are not respectful with each other, many pharases that is inapropriate for these forums for example is said frequently in almost all movies and is censored here in Brazil, however there in brazil, the people in work, playing soccer etc.. use an very strong language, in other games even for 12 years old kids the players also use a very strong language, i really don't understand why the epic duel staff turns epic duel in a extreme censored game that is not even possible maintain any conversation without have you texts blocked and giving "you message have inapropriate language" in texts without inapropriate language, and this guy inflamed fury wants the chat even more censored? the epic duel people live in some kind of bubble?

InFlamed Fury -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/26/2014 9:55:41)

@dfo99

Ok 1st off, Christmas is meant to be a time of giving, receiving and happiness, not Begging and Disrespect which is how some of the ED community currently treats it like. You wouldn't be rude to your own family or friends so why do it online?

Secondly, This post was not made to give the game more censorship as censorship has nothing to do with how people are being rude. Artix Entertainment Games are well known for being attractive to both young and old audiences due to the simplicity of the games and how they are all G-PG rated. We are not talking about a movie here so why compare the two? What these games are is a virtual world where people come to compete, chat and interact with others. Once again, you wouldn't go out in the middle of public and start swearing at random people so why do it online?
If you have a problem with your chat and not being able to say certain things then report it as a bug and the Developers will find a solution.

Lastly, who are you to tell the ED Staff how to run their game? This game is meant to be a fun, simple PvP game without any use of profanity. If you want to play a game with little kids swearing go play some Call Of Duty, There are plenty of them playing that. Also there are plenty of people who use abbreviations for what they are trying to say (I've done it before i'm not gonna lie) but it's usually just done out of anger or frustration not to target people, so completely uncensoring the game will allow other players to use whatever kind of language they want to and possibly use it to make fun of others (Of course the targeted people can always use the "Block" button) but i think that if the game's chat filters get turned off then that might possibly ruin the atmosphere of the game which no one wants, at least not right now.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/26/2014 12:23:55)

It's funny/cutie how everyone playing ED thinks others as "Kids!" But the truth is completely opposite!

king altoen -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/26/2014 22:49:00)

@SouL Many are kids, but there are also big kids who don't grow up.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/26/2014 23:45:03)

Mute then relax. Problem solved.

Lord Machaar -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 7:42:40)

@Dfo99

Mah man, if your country people are impolite in their everyday meetings with each other, I have no problem with that.
The thing is, Epicduel has players from all over the world, probably in my country, we are polite to each other.
So coming over and trying to make the game obey a certain country's ethics isn't right.

@DualThrusters:

If everyone of us started using this feature, then what's the purpose of community?
Let's make a no-chat server like AQW then. But, what? There is only 1 server in ED that's why.

odsey -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 8:49:09)

@Above

Dude, I get your point. But there is no such thing as no chat server in aqw. Are you referring to the canned chat? People can chat but only by using the available chat options. When people have verify their email,they can chat.

Inkwolf -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 9:38:14)

I'm pretty sure he means the canned-chat servers, where you can only select pre-programmed chat. And verifying your e-mail won't get you off them if you are under 13 years old.

Turning on mute in 2v2 is not a good option.

The only real option to try to change things is to report people who are breaking the chat rules and ruining the game for others. The problem is that the abuse is so wide-spread that it's hard to know what to even bother reporting, or if anything will be done about it anyway. Some variation of the f-word pops up in pretty much every conversation you have in the game. It is also hard to find and click on someone to report them in a crowded room (like a gifting situation.) And generally, when one person starts up, before you can report them everyone else is responding the same way. And if these people somehow ARE stopped from their filter-evading swearing and taunting, they might actually develop enough vocabulary to be just as offensive without swearing.

It's totally out of control.

Dual Thrusters -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 10:06:31)

Kids can always make a new account with a higher age if they wanted to talk in a "canned" server.

I honestly don't see how you can solve this problem directly. Be able to spectate matches or something?

Tatparjya -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 12:54:37)

The problem of immature players cannot be solved easily. If the staff makes chat extremly strict so no offensive words can be saved players will complain about the restrictions and if they do not players will complain about other childish players saying rude things. you see this is a PVP game and this sub community of players who have no sense of being responsible and well tactfull exists in every game, this mainly stems from the fact that the child like player just cant handle loosing well enough and things screaming will solve it.

as for a solution from how i see it this can be done-

add reporting options in both chat log and in battle like AQW. the players will be playing a roll in finding and reporting someone who is being rude or swearing. every players chat in someway will be recorded in a simple way so that not alot of storage is used when a player is reported for being offensive a mod/dev who ever handles these checks the time of the report and tries to check the chat informetion of the player in that time frame and when the mod/dev sees the players chat being rude and stuff the mod/dev can punish the player accordingly

this can be done or an option to send screen shots of the player swearing and being rude should be added in this case alittle more job is given to the player so the player is more responsible for what or how the community is functioning to a certain point but also the devs have a lot less work to do.

what do you guys think ? please feel free to tell me your opinion in this solution :)

Inkwolf -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (12/27/2014 13:42:42)

There already is a report function in battle mode. (Of course, you have to be willing to take the time out of your fight to use it.) Not sure how to report outside of it.

I know AQW does not accept screenshots as proof of anything, since they can be edited.

MrBones -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (1/2/2015 8:15:24)

Why are people so cruel ?

Why is life so unfair ?

Why don't I win the lottery ?

Why why why..

The answer is that we cannot control everything. In fact, we control almost nothing at all. Let it go, move on, have fun and be happy.
Never blame anybody or anything besides yourself for not being happy or not reaching your goals.

Best of luck to all of you.

Inkwolf -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (1/2/2015 11:30:49)

...and yet, there are still people willing to make an effort to try to improve things.

Lord Machaar -> RE: Why are people so cruel? (1/2/2015 21:14:45)

Players are cruel = They don't obey the rules = They can't feel the presence of mods. No mods = Cruel players

Mods = Game monitoring.

It has been ages now since I saw a mod in battle.

All they do is chillaxing in-game getting followed and stalked by fans.

A GREEN NAME MEANS RESPONSABILITY NOT BRAGGING RIGHTS. PERIOD.

I miss Wiseman, DAX, Donna Matrix... etc, those were real mods, actually PLAYING the game and caring for it. And players look out to them as idols. They feel their presence, but now, heck, mods are chilling with players, throwing warnings. I'm really confused how mods are picked nowadays.

I admit there are still some real mods like the lovely Elf Priest Jzaanu. Doing competitions, trying to help the game to get better, and then there is the lazy group.

See my post ~Battle Elf

Hi everyone,

This thread has gotten completely out of hand. The Forums are a place to discuss EpicDuel with your fellow players, not an area to attack the development team. Because of this, direct accusations are never allowed on the forums. Secondly, remember that your access to the forums is a privilege, not a right. Similar discussions will lead to harsher repercussions.

Please refresh yourself on some key points from the ED GD Rules.

Complaint Threads:
quote:

Please do not post in a thread unless you have something to add to the topic at hand. Do not post off-topic chatter, do not role play, and please make your post simple and easy to read by avoiding things like oversized font, unnecessary colors or all caps. In addition to refraining from spam, please refrain from creating threads with the sole purpose of complaining about things in the game, such as lag. Well-reasoned discussions will be permitted, as always, but threads that exist purely to complain and whine will not be allowed, as these threads are prime targets for flaming and trolling.

Constructive Criticism:
quote:

  • What is it?
    Constructive criticism is being able to process and offer your own thoughts and opinions in order to give courteous and friendly feedback. This is done by explaining what you like and dislike, while at the same time providing feedback that is useful. This is what separates constructive feedback from ranting/complaining and flaming.

  • Does it help? How?
    Yes! Constructive criticism helps because not only are you giving feedback about what you don't like about a quest/event, but you're also giving feedback about what you DID like in the quest. Feedback could include on such topics as statistics, more dialogue, more explanatory cutscenes, more fights - everything that quests or events would normally include. This gives the game staff a better idea on future improvements.

  • Example of Constructive Criticism:
    "I didn't partularly like this war because it felt too empty. To have made it better, I think the staff could have had a 50% cutscene to unlock rather than just a shop to progress the storyline. As it was, I personally was a little dissapointed that this war felt more rushed than previous wars, however I do understand that the staff had a lot on their plate when making this release.
    That said, I greatly enjoyed the boss fight, the animations and art fit perfectly with the song that was playing in the background. So while not one of the best wars DF have done, I still enjoyed it. Thank you, DF staff!"

  • Example of Unconstructive Criticism:
    "I didn't like this war at all. What were the staff thinking? The items in the shop were ugly, overpriced and were bugged!! No cutscene? That was never done before and it is not how it should be done ever. Seriously, doesn't the staff ever listen to us?! The boss fight was too hard and took forever to beat :( And there was no sound. I dont think the staff even care anymore. Best war ever /sarcasm I hate this game D:<!"

  • I've been watching this thread for a while now and it seems to be at the point of no return, as such I am going to lock this thread. I will be cleaning up posts that violate any of the =AE= Comprehensive Forum Rules

    Locked.

    Thanks,
