Lord Machaar -> Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 9:17:06)

Discussion:

Hello,

Icy Chill for example, a passive core in all frost weapons.
This core is locked, grants you 250+ damage when you you use it against George Lowe.
We understand that, but George Lowe's Era is gone, and so is those weapons?
I persoanlly like the look of some Frost Weapons, I would like to use them, but also I would like to use a passive core that will help me in PVPs and NPCs.
Make those cores unlocked (Changeable) but on the other hand un-sellable, un-usable in other weapons.
Or atleast make those locked "Useless" cores deal more damage to other NPCs.

Do you think that Locked Special Cores in weapons should be locked and remain locked or they should be change-able, but un-sellabe and un-usable in other weapons?

Discuss.

Their are so many weapons that has useless cores or at least the cores many people wish they could remove it.

I hope they let us remove cores from weapons/armors. So many weapons that i wanna use but cannot because of the cores! It's just like the old weapon stats problem! :/

Lord Machaar -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 10:32:18)

Yes, I know there are many of them.
I gave Icy Chill as an example.

Back then, before Omega was released, Practel said, in a video that has been posted in the ED youtube channel, saying the locked cores will be unlocked after a while. "They will remain locked for a certain time only, not permanent, this to prevent players from changing that "Ultra Rare" core with a non-rare core." Quoted from Practel's video in ED official youtube channel.

Minute 3:47 for the statement.

Yaaa... ik. guess they "forgot" about it! :/

Mother1 -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 11:04:10)

In the old Design notes, they also mentioned that

"Some cores won't be unlocked from certain weapons, so that said items can keep their identities."

So with this being said some items (not sure which ones) won't have there cores ever unlocked.

The three cores that were unlocked all had no more use in the game so it made sense for those to be unlocked and changable.

However Icy Chill no matter how useless people are saying it is does still have an in game use which is to do extra damage on george lowe. So I believe for that one reason they haven't unlocked the core.

^ It would be great to link us to the DNS in which they stated that.

Once again, I'm not saying those should be removed, they should be just unlocked to be: Changeable, Not Sellabe & Not Usable in other weapons.

The berserker killer -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 13:23:19)

All cores, ESPECIALY the omega primary passive core need to be unlocked. I would love to mix some cores together and this would further diversity by a ton I don't see a reason to lock these cores

Remorse -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 13:27:22)

The obvious solution: (quote from myself)

quote:

They need to make cores unequipable.

Yes it would be hard long process, but definitely worth it, they already have the inventory system and the mechanic of equiping cores, so surely being able to un-equip them can't be too hard to make.

Then this Locked core problem is 100% solved.

Because the player can simply unequip the core into the inventory which remains unsellable (Because apparently it's "hard coded") and can only be re-equiped to the weapon it originated from.

Honestly this is the system that makes so much sense and should of been made when first introducing cores, or at least when they created the core inventory.

Mother1 -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/18/2014 13:35:33)

@ the berserker Killer

Their reason IIRC was "So certain items don't lose their identities" To you it might seem like a poor reason but to the staff it is anything but.

Lord Machaar -> RE: Locked Special Cores (12/28/2014 11:22:32)

^ Remose's suggestion is pretty good, all weapons will maintain their identity, yet, they can be used in PVPs.

Cores now are an important factor, weapons without their cores are just like any other weapon.

I don't know why devs can't get this but, Weapons = Cores. Builds can be copied, Weapons can be copied, but cores sometimes decide who wins in a battle between 2 players with same build/weapons.

I hope this will be taken in conisderation, or atleast an AK/Mod/Dev clear this point.
