This 'daily gift' idea is not that new actually. Many browser games have the same thing, under another name or format. This is part of the new trend in the 'free' web browser gaming world.
I am pleased that they are rewarding players. I am also pleased that this feature it is completely free, and requires a very small time window. (Less than 5 seconds to claim the price)
