Is it just me or everyone are using swords because of the extra stats

I feel that weapons(staff,club,blades) should have something else to it other than one or two more skill moves on the skill tree

idk.. Seems fair and balanced to me. Plus if you get mutating weapon, you don't have buy different weapons for every class.

^Ya, but you cannot use certain skills. And that is why i mentioned that point as an advantage!

I mean, there are only 2 classes (TM, Merc) that need those class specific weapons just to use 1 measly energy draining skill. and they get penalized for it by other classes that could use them, but with swords.

So you basically just said, every class should be the same?
I find swords to be perfectly fine. Tech mages and blood mages need a staf to use firebal/plasma bolt, overload, and assimilation, and supercharge. Cybers and bountys need claws for massacre, cheap shot, and poison. Mercs and tlms need them for atom/static smash and maul. Really if you think mercs should be able to use those skills without a club, then that means they would be the only class does have a skill with their CLASS SPECIFIED ITEM, which is what the class is designed to use.

^ I meant that if you are gonna have it that way ( swords = more stats and dmg) then have that case for all classes, so the 2 forgotten classes (TM, Mercs) don't get penalized for choosing to use anything rather than a sword (because they have to use their class specific weapons.)

I think swords are perfectly fine except for on BMs and TLMs. TLM only has atom smasher as the sole skill that requires a club on the tree, and skills on the BM tree that require a staff suck anyways.

^Exactly. I mean for mercs and TM, unless I actually wanna use a build that requires these class specific weps (Str for mercs, Dex or tech for TM) I shouldnt have to use these weps.

but the fact of the matter is, regardless of what build I wanna use, Ill have to use class specific weps, unless I risk not having a drainer.

Swords are one of the reasons for the big unbalance as they make strenght/hp builds even stronger.
Those builds mostly dont need the skills that require a class only weapon.

^Strength CHs and BHs also benefit quite nicely from having access to massacre. Strength mercs have arguably the best stun in the game, and an energy drain that scales with strength, but both skills require a club. The problem is the skill trees, not strength + sword builds.

Who uses massacre with this balance? Adding points to massacre is more useless than adding points to shadow arts...

Every single class has a strong drainer. Swords have drain cores, Armors have drain cores, Guns have drain cores. anything other than str and focus is completely useless with this balance. Non can be used because of the constant drains.

Except I ran a max massacre CH build and was shredding people with a very fair win rate. There is the problem of energy drains, but +250 energy generator and giving yourself a large max energy pool is very effective and overcomes almost any energy drain problems. Throw out that max massacre and you remove almost 80% of your opponent's max health in most cases.

I might also note that max massacre build had like level 7 shadow arts or something.

ch max massacre builds are not effective at L.40 (idk if there good at lower levels) simply because of the static change to being blockable and other str builds more effective. The massacre build relied on unblockable strikes because defense was so low. Now CH's best way for good win ratio is 5 focus with extra build stats put toward support since static favors 5 focus builds instead of str.
