Micosil -> Monster RP - yay or nay? (1/15/2015 17:19:30)

So I've got this RP idea about playing a bunch of monsters establishing an empire - think of it as the monsters of a dungeon rebelling against the guy that put'em there, and then deciding that since they're there why not take over the area around them. If I were to ever do it, it'd have a bit of a more thought out plot, but this is a random RPGD post after all.

So, with that in mind, I've two questions - first off, the obvious one: Anyone interested in this idea? And, this one more generic, what kinds of monsters (if any) have you played in other RPs?

I like this idea, it could be a pretty fun RP and there's a lot of potential for poking fun at dungeon-RPG tropes and a lot of directions this type of story can go as well as a chance to use some character ideas that might not work in other RPs. So I'm interested!

In other RPs, I haven't used that many straight-up monster characters, but I have used a fair share of inhuman characters. The Skull Knight, who's basically a walking undead with meat on him, has been used quite a bit in different incarnations. I've used a lion-man lightning character once or twice. One time I tried to use a talking penguin with mecha arms, but that didn't really go anywhere and since then I've been having an idea for a new penguin character. There was one RP where I had a giant talking sickly wolf, so that definitely counts.... Probably the most monstrous character I've made is one where I somehow was able to make a character who had unrestricted shapeshifting, so he basically was able to form dragon heads out of his body and turn into giant monsters and stuff and, I'm not going to lie, it was insanely broken. One time that character managed to turn into a giant snake, eat someone else's character who was wearing armor, and basically turned his insides into a drill and just kept drilling away until they couldn't justify their character surviving. *tries to think back for a moment* Yeah, unless you count characters who transform like werewolves as monsters or vampires, I think that's just about it for actual monster characters I've made for RPs............

I'm interested!

As for monsters.. ehrm..
...
none.

@dethhollow

Referring to the snake-drill part, that's a pretty cool way to kill someone.

Alright, since two is enough interest for me, I'll start writing up stuff and see if I can get it approved.

And since I think it's only fair that I answer my own question: personally, I enjoy a lot playing chars who don't have to fit with a "human" mindset or morality, and can have a wide array of skills that wouldn't fit on a person. My first char was all of that and more, being broken even for the absurdly high power-level of Ruins of Paxia; but since then I've played inhuman shapeshifters, monsters from a variety of mythologies, several invented species and... yeah, I like monsters! :D

If this RP does get approval and stuff, I feel like I might want to use Maggot, the greatest character in ALL of Oversoul, no questions asked, don't apply logic it's just the best.... It just IS........ That, or maybe one of the giant cats the Gattans ride. I always kind-of feel like the Gattans are the most under-used forgotten race in all of AQ.

Hmmm... perhaps. Would need to see more.

Micosil -> RE: Monster RP - yay or nay? (1/24/2015 21:30:31)

I've written things. Then I posted them as an OOC.

@dethhollow: I have no idea what Maggot is, but feel free to throw a bio at me!

@TJByrum: The post I just made may or may not give you more information. Feel free to ask anything you want to know, of course.

The Great Maggot, destroyer of worlds!
