Rabbits Return Next Week!
[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/Epic_Duel_Easter-Rabbits-Return-DN.jpg[/image]
The snow is melting, the trees are blooming, the grass is green...but on Delta V all of those could mean very bad things are coming! In this case, there are no mutant spores to speak of or subterranean cyber-bugs, but adventure is still very, very near, arriving just in time for Easter!
This latest event Rabbits Return, the brainchild of Ranloth and One Winged Angel, will focus on the trials of the interstellar lagomorphs (sentient aliens that really, REALLY look like rabbits from Earth) that have been trapped on Delta V for years.

[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/EpicDuel-Browser-PvP-MMO-bloodthirsty-bunny-achievement-DN.png[/image]
Aid Myxoma, Brachylagus, Mr. Cottontail, Lepus, and Capensis and they attempt another escape. Will they uncover the secrets of the field preventing disgruntled colonists from fleeing Delta V. Will they resign themselves to their fate and become a part of their adopted homeworld? Will Electrohazard finally have that jumbo order of rabbit stew he's always dreamed about?
Find out next week during part 1 of this epic new saga!

Ye Olde Hardecore!
Ranloth has something very nasty in mind for this event. Because some players find our standard missions far too easy, he's planned several hardcore missions geared toward the most dedicated players. Phenomenal rewards await those brave enough to undertake these hardest of the hardcore missions! Be warned, undertaking these missions will require some time

In the Meantime...
There's no new release today, but there's still plenty to see and do on Delta V. For those not paying attention, the Biological Preserve shops are fully stocked with NEW seasonal goodies!
[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/EpicDuel-Browser-PvP-MMO-Botanical-gear-DN.jpg[/image]
Grab the awesome Botanical Weapons from Xraal in the Biological preserve! Warning: NOT safe for allergy sufferers (jk it's all digital. BREATH all you want!)
[image]http://cms.battleon.com/ed/images/EpicDuel-Browser-PvP-MMO-Bunny-gear-DN.jpg[/image]
Hop next door (pun intended) to check out the returning Bunny gear! The Ballistic Bunny Bot is one of my all-time favorites!
More lagomorphic and lethal weapons are coming your way next week, along with new missions and achievements! Stay tuned to the Twittervers for more WIPs and the latest information on the Rabbits Return event as it unfolds!

Think of the Future...
We've got a BIG announcement soon. I know it's really, really mean to make a post like this without immediate follow-up information, but we can't formally make this announcement until we're absolutely, 100% ready.

Better be for the better of the game whatever it is.

The berserker killer -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/20/2015 18:22:44)

Hard core missions with rewarding rewards? I like the sound of that. First of many steps taken that will bring back a few hardcore players. However do keep in mind that these missions will be permanent (from the sounds of it), so even if the mission requires 1k PVP wins it wont necessarily be special since theres no challenge. Daily hardcore missions would have been exceedingly better and extremely special to mist players. Also keep in mind the fact that even though hardcore missions are nice its still going to be too easy if its permanent. There should be more hard-core features for players, just as much as there are mission stuff (actually there should be more in a pvp based game). A ton of players are eager to see tiered Kill Streak Cheevos released in game (5 wins, 10 wins, 25 wins, 50 wins, 100 wins, and 200 wins). Now that is something that people can and would brag over since 1) itd be unique since not alot of people would have these cheevos and 2) itd be special because they worked so hard for it.

On another note the returning seasonal rares are good and all but don't forget that people still support this game no matter what with real life money. Honoring them by making new Perma-Rare promos would be a great idea. Not all promos have to have op weapons or New cores in them. It could be as simple as the Tank Promo introduced in dread war which awarded a Tank and 10 bombs or it could be permanent versions of limited cores such as Titans Bacon Breath or the +6 cores.

Overall, I'm looking forward to some actual PVP being implemented in this release and great job on inching more towards the PVP side of the game (which is what brought most of the players to play this game in the first place). Looking forward to it

Concerning the long wait for this spring event, I hope it does worth it, because 1 month is frankly a lot, I hope after the long awaited update occurs, it will make us busy for more than 5 or 10 minutes.

Could it be the end of 'Omuga? A new phase?
Hmm... Who knows.

Seems fun, just hope it doesn't follow the pattern of boring missions, e.g: Do Quadzillion 1vs1 or 2vs2 battles, because frankly, for low rankers, it's a knightmare, I probably stop at 10 - 20 battles whenever I log in, otherwise I will have more losses than wins by next month. I hope that @Ranloth thinks about more complex and less boring missions despite the engine limitations. Because hard doesn't mean always boring and long... e.g puzzles...

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/20/2015 19:02:07)

Can't please everyone with the Hardcore Missions. After all, they aren't everyone's cup of tea - not even mine, due to the lack of time to play the game for an extended period of time; full-time job, on top of writing stuff for ED. Since they are permanent, there won't be a rush to finish them for some, albeit they will have to sacrifice not being able to play new Missions in order to finish them. At least we're trying to please both, casual and hardcore players with the Event - especially with the Spring break starting around now, for many. (and no, multiple Missions support won't be happening)

For the Legendary Mode, I'll just repeat what I said before - there are plans for it, and we are aware of the balance issues around it, but can't share anything beyond that. However, we're not ignoring it. If we want a good solution for them, instead of a quick fix, it will have to wait just a little bit longer.

I'm open for ideas. My current project is the Summer Event, so I'm open for possible suggestions in terms of Mission objectives (or how it should be conveyed to the player, in the dialogue) - since the story is pretty much set in stone.

Edit:
quote:

Yes but please keep in mind that missions solely about the story line or simple missions aren't everyone's cup of tea either.

Missions were created for sake of the storyline - that is their main purpose. Storyline cannot be restricted with difficult-to-complete Missions, because that just defeats the whole point of it. If players aren't interested in it, that isn't something we can do anything about - without throwing the entire purpose of Missions out the window. There are exceptions, e.g. the upcoming chain and the Endless Shop, but they are exceptions for a reason, too. We write Missions with story in mind, not something completely random for the sake of it - there are players who do want to see some of the story; and those saying there isn't one whilst ignoring the dialogue, is also not something we can do anything about.

Sadly, 90% of answers to suggestions related to missions: Engine limitations, so I see that not a lot of players are bothering wasting time to think about any new type of tasks to make missions more appealing.

Yes but please keep in mind that missions solely about the story line or simple missions aren't everyone's cup of tea either. I won't even log on to do the easy missions simply because they're easy.

As far as ranks go....do whatever you guys want. Unless you bring back levels and give us no cap then I wont be playing anyway. I reached the cap so I'm done giving my input on the issue about a feature thats accessible to each and every player.

Ooh! Rabbit Stew! I prefer some hassenfifer myself... [:)]

Maybe I'll go for the badge, if it doesn't require too much... I'll have nothing to do next weekend anyway... :P

Squrwogrona -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 5:22:26)

Nice! Finally some cliffhanger to hang on to;) Could be a little less vague, but I'll manage. As for engine limitations, well how about returning the old removed features (f.e. one at the time) like battle drops, boosters, flags, whatever else comes to mind? Overall, I am once again hyped for the next week.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 5:55:28)

Promises, promises... but where is the bunny seasonals restock? Bunny Borg is out of stock, as it has been the whole week.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 10:19:29)

^ There was a restock of literally everything, yesterday. Roughly 23 hours ago.

Lord Machaar -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 12:52:08)

Managed to get Space Warrior armor after what? 2 - 3 years of waiting [8D]

This certainly enlivens me; any update is nice, naturally, but it seems like this might be one addressing balance -- which would be sublime. [:)]

Exploding Penguin -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 17:19:44)

I think the hardcore missions is a good idea. It'll give some of the most active players something they can really work towards between fluff releases with not much in them, and will hopefully be very satisfying when completed.

Darkwing -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 17:20:37)

Wonder what the big annoucement is about: Hope they don't bring passive skills back lol. I expect it to be related to legendary ranks. Either they weaken legendary ranks or remove them and change with levels instead, as it was before.

Also, thank you for the restocks, was able to get the necronaut armor.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 17:45:28)

@Exploding Penguin
Pretty much, yeah. If players do enjoy them, and after we get some feedback on what rewards they like / want to see from these hardcore missions, we can continue with the trend long-term, and add these hardcore chains every now and again; obviously wouldn't be often if the rewards were to be cool looking items (+ exclusive to the Missions?), which would require some work in-between weekly content, etc.

Lord Machaar -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 19:45:14)

Just make sure you don' listen to forum members only, because there are some players here that represent a small minority of players. Do a poll on twitter or even here to get a general idea of what players think.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 19:57:11)

That's actually the plan, Machaar. A while back, I did a couple of Strawpolls for Mission rewards, and if weapons then what type, etc. I think by the time the last votes were in (and then the poll was forgotten), around 200 people have voted. Forums will be used for more detailed feedback instead, since Twitter makes it a bit more difficult - unless you use Twitlonger.

Mother1 -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/21/2015 22:14:33)

Hardcore missions? How hard will they be? Will they be anything like the old yeti trainer missions that went rare?

dfo99 -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/22/2015 9:20:33)

in my case, i open some threads about harder bosses only, missions like kill 300 frost reapers or search for a hidden object like is not hard, it is annoying.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/22/2015 9:49:26)

quote:

300 frost reapers or search for a hidden object like is not hard

Neither of them fall under hardcore - especially when L40 would just 1 hit KO the lowest level Frost Reaper, and search Missions are amongst one of the easiest ones too. The chain is aimed at L30-35+ for a reason.

@Mother1
Probably worse than that. I made sure it won't be easy to complete in a day or two, even for the most active players. Right now, it's aimed at L30-35+ to see how they enjoy it (and for difficulty's sake). Once we get some feedback on them, I will try a generic hardcore chain next time, which can be completed by everyone, i.e. not restricted to a specific level range.

The berserker killer -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/22/2015 10:33:35)

If its PVP based its not technically hardcore if its permanent. A daily hardcore chain over at OZ would've been fantastic. Something tiered like 100 PVP wins for x credits, then 200 PVP wins for x weapon then 300 pvp wins for x weapon. Thats truly hardcore and braggable especially since once the clock runs out you have to start over

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/22/2015 10:41:07)

And we won't be removing content which takes quite a while to create, without good enough reason - in the past, it was done due to how Missions were coded and this was fixed when the Missions Log has received a major overhaul. Also, you're thinking of limited time, and not hardcore (difficulty).

Going by your definition, the chain you're suggesting would be just as permanent and not hardcore either. You don't have to play through them, if you choose not to, but we won't be removing content (Missions) for sake of minority, because it only limits the playable content for everyone else. It's already restricted to higher levels, which is good enough for now in terms of exclusivity.

Darkwing -> RE: =ED= March 20th, 2015 - Rabbits Return Next Week! (3/22/2015 10:54:45)

The problem is with the game, that can't do more then 1 misson at a time. At least if you would keep progress if you quit it to do some daily mission, then get back to it.
