Azan -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:18:38)

Ovya IS the first SoulSmith, and child of Roirr.

Solargeo -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:19:54)

rayen I honestly have to agree . I myself am more of good character, well more of a part good part evil, I try and do what is good, but sometimes stuff has to get done or be done.
So yeah I would rather use Soul Smith, than FW , I use DmK because in my mind, it offers me one of the best ways to keep the peace and balance.

Christophoses -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:21:24)

So that does make Vaal Roirr's really great grandson. Wow, this just got a whole lot weirder.

#FamilyFeud

So to clarify, Pandora, Baltael and Ovya are Roirr's children?

Solargeo -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:22:38)

Christ I agree. Really really werid

megakyle777 -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:25:55)

Still wondering why we'd have to eat Ageis to make Fleshweaver work when presumably it's a matter of "merely" pulling from a different source.

Also, yeah, that is weird. I can just imagine the family reunion now... it would not be pretty.

Tomix -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:27:22)

I can't reveal that Megakyle, without spoiling a very important future plot point.
Sorry.

Azan -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 13:29:47)

I find myself wondering how exactly this whole "eating Aegis" business can be cannon.

The DF Hero is fundamentally good, selfless and heroic, we can all agree on that. That's something the team can't just change unless something major happens. In this context, I have difficulties figuring out how could the hero just decide to eat one of his best friends in order to gain gruesome powers. That seems so out of character. Every time we had the choice to do something evil - mostly in the older storylines, it always led somehow to the end of the world.

I wonder how can this be cannon without breaking the whole character. Of course, something could happen in the Vaaloirr saga that makes the Hero's decision to eat Aegis - if, as a player, you choose to do so - logical and not out of character.

If you can find a way not to break the character by eating Aegis, I don't see any issue with implementing FleshWeaver - except the "extra load for the team" part. With AoT, we can see how long and hard it is to create a new armor.

Go on, we won 't tell. Honest.[:)]

But seriously, it's cool.

Christophoses -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 14:23:23)

Imagine if the souls of all 3 of Roirr's children return at the end of this saga. That would be the ultimate weaving showdown.

Hmm, a future story you say! Interesting... Hopefully the entire crew from the Tomix Saga will come back for the party. I hope this new story somehow coincides with what's going on with Vaaloirr. I think it will since Roirr is trying to get back to Mortem where weaving originated, and I don't think he's there to hand out presents so that's a pretty big deal. Who knows, maybe we'll find out who that kid from the finale was.

Wait... aren't we passed the 10 page lock?

monstervet -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 15:20:07)

Megakyle its the price you have to pay, its fair although a bit creepy i agree, but you cant have your cake and eat it too.
So Aegis will be important later on, or something involving him will happen? I knew it was right all along High Five Neuron Synapses

So this whole arguments continues because i wasnt here! no more eating with my family.....

It probably would have continued regardless though.

Let them eat there cake, really at this point its quite clear they want cake, myself and others wont partake of course, however if someone gets a stomach ache from eating to much cake....... yeah i'd rather not hear that, i told you so would come to mind.

however it is a choice an informed choice, so no matter how much you want to sugar coat it, or how the event plays out, you made the choice of devouring aegis.

Soulsmith ....we've talked about it dabbled mostly, we cant decide if it is a continuation of blacksmith but much more advanced or an actual class that will have you powering up and such.
Technomancer comes to mind for some reason, seems like Soulsmith would be like a fusion of technomancer and soulweaver (in my mind thats how i picture it)
i dont know i guess we will have to create our opinions as the info is released

GreenGuy23 -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 15:49:28)

@Tomix if SoulSmithing was to be a thing, how would you implement it? I honestly can't see it being a fighting class, only an Upgrade to BlackSmithing.

Tomix -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 15:54:09)

It will be an upgrade to blacksmithing.

W.A.R.Z. -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 15:58:43)

I'm taking this as conformation that SoulSmithing will be a thing.
By the way are we going to learn from Lanrete? And will we get an ally for SoulSmithing too?

GreenGuy23 -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:04:08)

WILL? Does that confirm it? If so, I think that a cool idea for it would be if maybe maxing out your SoulSmithing allowed to complete a few quests that had drops that you could use to merge to upgrade your SoulClaws on SoulWeaver.

Also, @Tomix I know SoulWeavers have SoulClaws, so do FleshWeavers have Flesh Claws?

Christophoses -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:20:23)

@GreenGuy 23

I'm pretty sure WILL means that it will be an upgrade of blacksmith.

What primary element do you guys think FW will be? I originally thought it would be Evil until it was stated that Good and Evil aren't actually elements. If I recall correctly they are considered states of mind that can somehow be used in combat. Void/??? seems appropriate since Fleshweaver doesn't seem like something that would lean to any of the 8 primary elements or Bacon.

monstervet -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:22:38)

Now im glad i maxed out my blacksmithing, high five me from many years ago!

Well im guessing elmental weapons, possiby upgrading some older weapons? imbue them with power maybe....hmm its interesting, very interesting.

So do soulsmiths use anvils? or is there like a "soul" equivalent to that?

Daimyo Daimyo -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:24:50)

Actually, Bacon would be a fitting element considering you weave with hunks of pork--I mean flesh. [&:]

Lanrette said there is a SoulForge and that either elemental spirits are binded to weapons or made from them. Also, he's apparently the brother of Izaac. What a small world.

Aura Knight -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:25:38)

Will soulsmith's default weapon be a soulhammer? I expect each skill to be some variation of us making a weapon and then attacking enemy with it. Maybe the class will have it's own portable forge or anvil or something where we can make weapons.

GreenGuy23 -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:27:09)

@Aura Knight Tomix stated above that
quote:

It will be an upgrade to blacksmithing.

Aura Knight -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:29:42)

So it won't be a class? Aww that's a bit upsetting. I like the idea of making weapons really fast and hitting stuff with them.

god of chaos -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:35:24)

^ If that ever happens, I'll rename my character to Archer, and make his hair white.

W.A.R.Z. -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 16:44:20)

Would it possible to have the Weaver classes (other than FleshWeaver) get an effect like the DeathKnight skill that gets gets more powerful if you use a SoulSmithed weapon? Not that it would be necessary, but it would be a nice touch.

lightriftwalker122 -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 17:52:05)

a Upgrade to Blacksmithing yay! @ Tomix How do people know who are SoulSmiths? How are they recognized? by their weapons?

ThereisnoSyntaxhere -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 18:01:18)

Even if Fleshweaver were somehow implemented as the best class ever, I don't think it'd be worth the cost of Aegis.

Aegis is our friend, and he clearly cares a lot about us, and aside from that I'd prefer to keep the game's now running bodycount to a minimum. Plus, that we're currently debating the fate of Aegis, who's done nothing but help us and try to be there for us, really feels distasteful considering the recent loss of Serenity, who'd done nothing but help us and try to be there for us.

And I know that this has probably been brought up before, but even if our actions after obtaining the class aren't specifically evil, devouring a friend certainly is. And the Hero isn't evil. Devouring Aegis would be grossly out of character for them, regardless of if you the player want them to be evil or not. The hero canonically expresses regret over the people they haven't been able to save—I highly doubt that they'd then choose to effectively kill one of their friends just for greater power.

I'm really starting to wish that Fleshweaver hadn't been offered. The story is dark enough already, we don't need to make it even darker by killing off Aegis.

Christophoses -> RE: FleshWeaver and Soul Smith Class II (5/3/2015 18:31:40)

I feel that people keep mentioning this point because they wish they could have the best of both worlds. When I first proposed the idea almost no one had anything against it. When it was confirmed that the class would be cannon and that you have to make a choice, a wall was built dividing the public right down the center. If you dont like the FW class you can simply ignore it and participate in the Soulsmith discussion. That's why I proposed 2 points instead of one.

Also, the "Hero" isn't as good as everyone claims. Anyone remember the cloak scrap incident?
