Arthur -> Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/22/2015 13:25:37)

Hello everyone.

When I first started off in the Artix Entertainment Forums, never had I though that I'll be opening a gallery dedicated to Photography. But that was 5 years ago and today I am a Design student. Strangely(and amazingly) enough, Photography is a part of our course and I love it. So here goes all the photos that I've clicked in the past 2 months.

Do note that special emphasis has been put on some photography principles such as Depth of Field and Rule of Thirds. Also, I've taken special care while composing these photos.

The camera I have is a Nikon D3300 complete with a standard 18-55 mm lens and a 55-200 mm Zoom lens.

Let me know if you would like to have the Shutter Speed, Aperture or ISO settings for any of the photos.

Critique is hugely appreciated. I do hope you like what I've captured.

Wyrm -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/22/2015 14:50:13)

Not gonna lie there are some really nice snaps in this gallery! I adore the bubble picture and the last one as of this post really speaks to the steampunk nerd in my heart. Is that a turbine?

Art On!

Arthur -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/22/2015 14:59:35)

@Wyrm, Glad you like the photos.

The last one is in fact a... part(sorry, not well-versed in jet parts) that belongs to a MiG-23 that's kept in our college campus. All it's parts have been extracted and kept aside for study by students.

Legendium -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/22/2015 17:20:51)

Nice! I've never been into photography as my artistic skills lie mainly in music, and a bit in dance, but these look pretty darn good. I especially like the leaf floating on the water. It looks almost like some kind of flying creature, which is cool.

Arthur -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/23/2015 3:48:06)

@Legendium, thank you.

That floating leaf just happened to fall into the stream. It's like it was begging to be captured so I took it.

And now for some more of my photos.

Wyrm -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/26/2015 11:57:52)

I like the feel for this latest snap but I kind of wish you had framed it a little differently. The far left "leaf" is touching the edge of the snap and that tangent really bothers me for whatever reason. I like the blurred white in the background, don't know if that's snow or not but it looks great with the subject. It feels like cold winter photo to me.

Arthur -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/26/2015 12:06:12)

I wish it was snow but this year it didn't snow at my college campus. That's the building at the back.

I see what you mean with the border. I'll keep that in mind here on out.

Oh my! I like photography but I don't have the skills to capture beautiful photos.
Okay first of all, this observation and criticism is based on my own eye and what I feel about the piece. I don't have sufficient knowledge about photography. So my opinions might not have any basis.

•I like the effect on your second photo, it gives that meaningful aura and the seriousness. I think it would be better if you emphasized the childrens that are walking on the side and captures it a little closer. It would give off a different vibe.

•I love the perspective of the 3rd pic. (Really, are you a bag endorser?)

•The 8th picture is what I like the most. Simplicity at it's finest. Simple yet meaningful.

•The 9th piece, gives the "gung ho" feeling as the bubbles sore freely in the sky never worrying that it might vanish any moment. Represents freewill, freedom and life.

•The newest piece, the backgrouns fits with the subject. It flows, following the contour of the subject.

What I was suggesting might be realistically impossible, since capturing photos of the moment is as hard as drawing without guidelines.

Arthur -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/27/2015 13:11:33)

@bruextian,

Hey. Thanks for commenting. I myself am just an amateur but I love Photography so here I am.

For the pic with the children, I actually wanted just the children and the empty road next to them but as luck would have it, the biker rode in and spoiled the whole shot. :( Oh well.

Thanks for checking out the photos and conveying your thoughts. I get a new perspective on them. :)

Now for some more photos.

Arthur -> RE: Life Through my Lens(Photography) (5/27/2015 13:12:35)

One of my favourites.

I like taking structures in monochrome. I feel it gives them that still old world feel, plus monochrome has that strange appeal.
